The microwave is very nice looking but cheap
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The inside of the microwave paint cracked and lifted shortly after i purchased it. This has NEVER happened to me Microwaves usually burn down before they fall apart. Apparently I can't return it because its been more than 10 days. I just bought it a little over a month ago. If something is going to go wrong-it isn't going to happen in the first 10 days.

Poor quality
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Received my first microwave followed instructions and it didn’t work. Returned it and got another one same thing. It appears the package is minimal and breaks when miss handled. See mashed buttons below. Returned and ordered a GE.

If you can catch a sale and have points, grab one!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I doubt I would pay full price for this but with the points I had and the sale they were running at the time, my final price was about $110. I added the 4 year geek squad protection because some reviews complained about a door latch issue. So we've have this microwave now for about 2 months and that is long enough for me to write a honest review. As far as looks go this thing is gorgeous. If you have other stainless steel appliances then all the more reason to buy it. It really is nice on the eyes. I like the blue display because it reminds me of a more modern, digital color. The LED interior light is nice too. Both are such a step up from the old Sharp this replaced. I recently used the Sensor cooking setting on some cold, prepared meals from the local Wegmans. Meatloaf, mixed roasted vegies, and mac & cheese. It was two plates of each. We use microwave covers (real common, the hard plastic types, acrylic, with the hole in the top) and I had to switch them after the first cycle. So two cycles total. It was perfect. I have used the defrost cycle too and set the weight to what I thought it would be, guessed, as I was pre-heating frozen meatballs (2 oz angus) to add to spaghetti sauce. It did a really nice job and didn't overcook them at all. I had to run a couple cycles, rotating my balls in between. It was a huge success. Mostly we use it like 99% of people that have a microwave and that is to heat things up that aren't hot enough. It works perfectly for that. I'm sure any self respecting chef would not admit to using a microwave to cook an entire meal but it seems to have enough bells and whistles to do it. We have a convection oven for those tasks so..... I do like it, as I said, it is nice to look at and matches our other appliances, it is quiet, and produces the results I would expect from a device that costs as much as it does, full price. I would never pay that much, so look for sales. But that is just me. Oh, some people write negative reviews about the knob and how it is harder to operate. I'm not sure what to say about that but for my wife and I, it is not an issue. I actually like it now more than touching all the buttons I had to on the old one. I do use the power level in addition to timed heating and for me, it is perfect in every way. Sure, it will take some time to adjust to the new power if you have a lesser power version, and yes, the knob will be different but all in all, it's not a rocket your putting on the moon, it's a room temp cup of coco you are reheating to make hot again......

Best Unit for size vs price + 1 MustDo to Protect
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have two of these 2.2 Panasonic models. For the size and price we've found that at the $200 price range, this oven from Panasonic lasts the longest. With kids the easy to access keep warm button is a necessity for us since at their age its a hen picking dinner where they come and go on their time. (Know THAT age I'm referring to?Yep.) We DID try two LG models. That will NEVER happen again. My parents have the prior gen model of this Microwave and their Panasonic is almost 15 years old now. It has rust,on the inside, the plastic floor where Mom slides plates in is actually discolored from use, doesn't look safe to use, and is worn out, but it still works flawlessly to heat food, cook 6 full sized baked potatoes etc.. The one and only complaint I have while the parts quality for one internal component has decreased and has caused an issue for one of the two units which our Geek Squad protection plan replaced for $0 after 20 months of use and a relative with the same model having the same issue, I diagnosed both as I am en engineer and the nerd in me forced me to. The one quality issue is specifically with the voltage reg module, the transformer dc side winding size. While adequate, the current gauge can have a thermal break on the high side and both char the plastic lower base where the outer wire connected (lower). This seems to have happened because of young kid door slamming while the winding was still hot after being used and the Microwave being on a slick (tile) or marble countertop where any amount of sliding movement could occur if the door is closed to hard or slammed. If this occurs frequently the transformer winding are a small enough ga that separation could occur at the solder points on the thinner gauge. The problem being the replacement cost of this board is almost 80% the cost of the Microwave. this is my opinion after looking at two of the same model units both of which presented the H98 error. That being said, I was online today because I am buying a new Microwave. I am again, purchasing this model and it is still due to it being a higher quality than any other unit that's above 2.0 cu ft at its price point. I would have to go to a unit costing a min of $100 MORE to potentially gain any increased quality and thus it is not worth the added cost being this unit is better well made with more features than the majority of units of its size and price. In fact if you are a HEAVY HEAVY user? It makes more financial sense to get this unit with the 4 year geek squad replacement protection at $50 where as you are then guaranteed to have a very large, very nice powerful and feature rich Microwave that is guaranteeing to last no less than 4 years via the protection plan. for appx $250 when on sale, plan included. Normally these units as far as Microwaves in general with heavy use seem to die between 12 and 18 months or after 36 months, IF they are going to die prematurely. I have thankfully been able to replace two at no cost with the Geek Squad protection, so I personally see the value AS LONG as it is the replacement plan. I would not get a Microwave with a repair plan only being that I would have to wait for it to be sent off and returned and w/ co vid I could be without a unit 30 days or longer. So I DO recommend the geek squad protection, the larger the better if you can afford it. The record stores in your BestBuy acct as long as you use your rewards # and the plan info is always there. Just ensure it is a REPLACEMENT plan and read the plan to ensure it is. Even at just 2 yrs. that's a big piece of mind for only $25 to protect a $225 investment .. but that's just my opinion. In the end, this is the large full power unit to get for less than $250 as far as feature tich units that have the potential to last the longest.

Great Microwave.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very intuitive to use. Love the large size. Powerful, lots of easy to use features and looks great in the kitchen. This is our second one. The first lasted six years before the timer knob wore out. Not bad for a $200 appliance that's used several times a day.

Large, attractive with easy control panel
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this 2.2 cu.ft mike to replace my old, large microwave. It is faux stainless, but looks real enough for me and great on the counter next to a couple other small stainless appliances I have. I really like the dial knob. It feels smooth and substantial when you turn it -- not clackety-clack. I also like the "real" buttons. They really class up the control panel and make it look like a gourmet appliance. The microwave heats food up very fast. The door opens and closes easily and smoothly, too. I give it 4 out of 5 because they could have put the display closer to the front panel. It is recessed and I have to stoop down a little to see it. (I'm 6 ft tall.) Short cooks won't mind :-) Also, I've tried the sensor cooking -- where it is supposed to detect the steam/humidity and stop cooking automatically at a certain %RH. However, it doesn't seem to do so...especially if you have the food all or partially covered. I don't care about this, though, because I prefer to control the cook time manually (with a dial). And I like that the dial increments are speed sensitive. This means you don't have to turn it a bunch of times to, say, set 5 minutes -- you just turn it fast and it starts jumping 30 seconds at a time, then 1 minute at a time. I'm pretty happy with this purchase so far. I hope it lasts.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a large and powerful microwave that quickly warms or cooks. It has a Turbo Defrost option which can defrost without "cooking" foods. In addition it offers convenience with pre-programmed cooking options for things such as baked potatoes, popcorn and rice and sensor reheat and cooking. Lots of bang for the bucks!

Panasonic sd987sa microwave cooks well
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great user interface (the dial to quickly set times, power levels, cooking methods). Sensor cooking works well. Pretty quiet compared to my old microwave. Plenty of power. Stainless steel looks nice. But, fingerprints show. (Maybe, Panasonic should consider using the same white epoxy paint as the inside of the microwave is painted with for the front of the oven?)

Now This Is Hot!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had a Panasonic Microwave for 29 years and it still works! But after I read about this one I knew it was time for a change. It was the Inverter technology that got to me. It heats the food up inside as well as the outside (was the claim). First thing I tried was a hot dog. It was actually hotter on the inside. A large serving of mac and cheese was next. When you find out how to use the time you will find that it pretty much heats up equally. Much better than the waves of the past. Large inside does not hurt either. Beautiful on the outside with a simple push button/dial front. And I paid more 29 years ago than I did for this one. This should be your next microwave or don't complain about the cold middle. You're welcome.

Working as it should!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far, there has been no problems with this microwave. Very easy to operate, very quiet, heats food quickly and thoroughly. The end signal is loud enough to hear but not too loud and doesn’t repeat over and over until door is opened. Last microwave I had came with a loud signal and would constantly repeat. I really like this microwave and hope it lasts a really long time.

Excellent microwave
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The micro is quite large and very quiet. Easy to use. Only drawbacks are it does show fingerprints and it would be great to have an easy 30 sec button. Really like the inverter technology. Had one in my last house for 8 years and never gave an ounce of trouble.

Extremely Happy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you check the first image, I purchased this microwave on 1/10/09, yes, 2009, and it just died on March 13, 2024. So 15 years was a pretty good run. I was so happy I could buy the same microwave at Best Buy and it even has same numbers for sensor cooking! If you check the second image, my husband had problems with the first microwave and kept setting it on demo mode. :)

Gets The Job Done Fast
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very nice looking unit. Perfect match with all the other SS appliances we have. The finish shows finger prints and smears just like the rest of the SS finishes...so be ready to do some cleaning if you want to maintain a clean unit. This model replaced a 700 watt Sharp that just quit after 20 years. The dial timer takes some getting used to as it's fairly sensitive. Also, the oven makes short work of anything you cook/defrost in it. That takes some getting used to also. Overall we're pleased with the purchase. Curious to see how long it lasts.

Easy to Use
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was going to buy a smaller unit this time around but found there wasn't a good inbetween size ----- small or large seems to be the choice. This one was so similar to my last Panasonic that lasted 16 years, I immediately chose the large. I read the instructions and it's super easy to use. My only complaint would be the press button that opens the door --- it will stick here and there. I read how to loosen the screws on the under-side but haven't done it yet. That's the only reason I'm giving it a 4 star since I believe that should have been tested before leaving the factory. Hope it lasts 16 years like my last Panasonic.
