The Pela case for iPhone 16 Pro is a flexible rubber, slip-on phone case. It includes a Magsafe module pre-installed in the interior making it compatible with magnetic accessories and wireless charging though doesn’t display the MagSafe logo visibly on the back of the case. The case adds some thickness and weight to the phone but not a lot. In the package, you’ll get a code to redeem a second case from Pela for free with over 500 styles to choose from and customizations with text, colors, and personal images. The phone slips into and out of the case with ease, and the case has a matte, soft-touch feel all around that provides a little bit of texture for improved grip. You’ll have a raised border around the screen and rear camera that lifts the phone off surfaces to prevent scratches. The case is also compatible with add-on screen protectors, though Pela has their own liquid glass bonding screen protector, sold separately, as well. I found the mute and volume buttons are a little bit harder to press through the case, however, there are cutouts for the camera slider, charging port, and bottom speaker and microphone. One thing to note is that the black color isn’t uniformly black; it’s got flecks of yellow fibers throughout. That’s because it’s 100% made from plants (flax) and is fully compostable without harmful chemical residues; when you’re done with it, you can simply toss it in your compost bin or return it to Pela for recycling. You’ll also get a 1-year replacement warranty against damage to the case, or free phone repairs if used with their liquid screen protector. The case is waterproof but not recommended for prolonged water exposure. It’ll protect your phone from scratches and drops, and although it doesn’t have an official drop height rating, videos demonstrating the protective capabilities of the case appear impressive. As for the MagSafe performance, the case works fine with accessories like my magnetic car phone mount and wireless charging power bank. The case stuck solidly to the magnet of the accessory and didn’t feel like it would slip off on its own. Wireless charging speeds were not impacted, and the phone charged just as quickly when placed on a charging pad as without the case. Overall, I like the feel of this case in the hand, its durability, and the fact that it’s a compostable alternative to plastic. I prefer the matte surface over hard shiny plastic, as it isn’t as slippery, and I feel confident in the level of protection it provides. I also appreciate that over 50% of its construction includes the use of recycled materials.

Pelo is a cell phone case company that make cases out of plants and naturally occurring microorganisms. They also offer up some accessories with their cases. The box includes the cell phone case and a card that provides a QR code and a redemption code for your free customizable case. The case comes with a manufacturer's 30-day return policy. PROS: ----------- * They have a number of options available for iPhones, Samsung Galaxy, and Google Pixel phones. You can check their official website for exact present and past models to pick from. Other brands of phones do not appear available. * Snug fit, feels solid. Easy installation. * Buttons are not difficult to press * This case includes the magsafe feature which I unfortunately do not utilize. * Color selection is adequate, but the best feature is creating your own case online for FREE. I created my new case the day I received the original case, and it was pretty easy to do via the Pela website. CONS: ----------- * Doesn't offer the drop protection that some other cases offer. Their main focus is sustainability in the "green" market. They do offer to repair your screen if it cracks but only if you have their screen protector being used with their case. OTHER OBSERVATIONS: ----------- * My custom case is being shipped from British Columbia (Canada) via DHL then USPS for final delivery. They have quoted 14 days to receive. If you need your custom case quick, it may depend on where you live (distance from BC, Canada, to you) CONCLUSION: ===================== Good solid case unless you are bad about dropping your phone a lot. If you're really rough with your phone, you may need something more durable. You'll need extra screen protection as with the case for most cases to protect the glass screen itself. If you're into "green" policies, this may be an option for you. The cost kind of justifies getting the free customized case if you need 2 cases (1 for you, 1 for a family member or friend) or simply need a backup or want a change-of-pace look. Even though I have yet to receive my custom case yet, if it's anything like the original, I should be happy with my selection.

Pela offers earth friendly cases, cases that are made of recycled materials and/or plants. But to be honest, if it doesn’t protect your phone from drops, then being made of plants and compostables are of little value. While I haven’t dropped my phone to test it, I can confidently say that’s built with durability in mind. This particular case is a bit thicker, more like an Otterbox, than a slim, minimalist case. It’s cushiony. It’s sturdy but has some flex like it’s made of rubber. But when you put it on the phone, it feels great. Which is great for drop absorption. It has a raised lip, meaning it you place it face down, there’s a gap between the screen and the surface it’s laying on. I found it to be precisely cut, leaving ample gaps for the speakers at the bottom of the iPhone 16 Pro and charging port. And it covers the entire back of the phone except for the camera housing and it fits perfectly. There’s a lip on the camera housing to protect it from drops which I like. But it will not lie perfectly flat on a table - but that’s no big deal. Don’t get me wrong, it will lie down just fine, but it wobbles when pushing down on it. It’s Magsafe and wireless charging compatible. There’s a Magsafe compatible ring on the inside of the case to help extend the magnetic ability of the phone’s Magsafe. We only use a Magsafe charger and had no issues using it. I really like the design of this particular case, it’s black with what looks like little specks of gold. Of course, it’s not really gold, but it looks snazzy to me without being too over the top. Finally, one of the best parts is that you get 2 cases for the price of 1. Whether you want to gift it, or have a second to swap out to change the look of your phone from time to time, there’s a QR code inside the packaging that takes you to a website to purchase a second case. You can even customize the case (the new one) with a photo which is really cool. We don’t have the second case yet, but assuming it’s the same exact size we’ll have no issues or complaints. While I can recommend this case no matter what it’s made of, I do appreciate that companies are out there making a difference and creating quality products of reusable materials.

There’s been a push for case manufacturers to use more environmentally sustainable materials. Pela’s solution is a case that is fully compostable because it’s made with flax shive and a plant-based biopolymer (plastic). With this case you can feel good knowing that when you inevitably buy your next phone and throw out all your old cases and accessories, that this phone case won’t be polluting landfills for eternity. PLUS you get a redemption code for another case that you can either customize, or choose one of their existing designs (I chose an existing design). So really you’re getting two for one on cases with this eco-friendly option. What I like about my Pela case: - It supports Mag Safe! I’m happy to sou can use your favorite chargers and accessories with this case. - The feel of the case is similar in texture to a silicon case in its softness, but it’s not so grippy that it attracts all of your pocket lint. - The color is very unique. It’s black with speckles of tan fleck. In some lights it looks a little less black and more charcoal colored. - The buttons fully cover the iPhone’s buttons, leaving no gap for dirt and debris to get stuck between the case and the phone. The only minor gripes I have are: 1) that the case’s buttons feel a little hard to press, and 2) that the case isn’t the thinnest case on the market. But these are small complaints, and they might even prove to give the case added protection if and when I drop my phone. I genuinely love this case. I appreciate Pela trying to reduce our plastic waste problem with a unique solution. And they’re even including a 2nd personalized phone case when you buy one-- no one else does that!

This Pela - Phone Case with MagSafe Module for Apple iPhone 16 Pro + Bonus Custom Case Activation Code in Black is a sturdy case, and that part is great. In the box comes the case with the MagSafe Module and a card with an activation code to order an additional case that you can customize. The MagSafe Module on the Pela case works on some things, but not others. I have a MagSafe charger that it works on pretty good, but I also have another that is similar that it won’t work with. The same goes with the magnetic holders in my vehicles. I have two different holders, one for each vehicle. It works great on one, and doesn’t hold on the other. The buttons and the holes line up perfectly on the case, but the buttons are extremely difficult to push. I find this annoying and irritating, because I don’t want to have to put a lot of effort or pressure into pushing any of the buttons on my phone. As far as protection goes, this case will protect your phone well on the corners, edges, and back, if dropped. You will still need a screen protector if you are prone to dropping your phone a lot. All in all this case is good, but nothing special stood out to me. The look of the case was okay, and the feel was the same. I recently upgraded to the iPhone 16 Pro phone, so obviously needed to buy a bunch of accessories, charging cables, screen protection and phone cases. Early on I went with a Crytal clear model that touted a special button for the new iPhone 16 Capture button on the lower right side. However, I found that when placed in my holder in my car – it squeezes the button and causes the camera to take pictures of my dash – hundreds of them! Enter in the Pela case. Instead of a protruding Capture button cover, they opted for a recessed area instead – which solves my auto problem! Way to go Pela! So aside from being made from plant and very durable, I like the look of my fleck-black case. It doesn’t feel too slippery in my hands and also isn’t super sticky. It’s a nice combination of grippiness and function. Integrating a MagSafe Module is a great forward-thinking plan that provide us (the customer) with more options! Thanks again Pela! Lastly – this Pela case comes with a Bonus Custom Case Activation code – how can you go wrong with that? Nice job Pela – I like and recommend it! One of my friends already bought one too!

Verdict. I don’t love the standard color, but it looks better than I expected, and most importantly, I was able to order a custom case with a picture of the whole family on it. Protection is great, it’s MagSafe compatible, and its compostable! First impressions and setup. I was not excited about the off black color with color pigments, but my wife likes it because it gives the black more character. It looks good when installed on the phone, I have to admit. Protection feels very adequate. And the MagSafe magnet is strong. Design. I had never considered buying an ecofriendly case, but now that I have tried one, I wish that more companies went the ecofriendly route to reduce the impact of the millions of cases that end up in landfills. The case is well designed with raised edges to protect the camera and the screen. It also looks like the material would provide very good drop protection. The case feels very nice to the touch. Pro Tip: I highly recommend to always add a tempered glass screen protector on your phone. It’s well worth the small cost to protect from the hassle and deductible of getting a screen repaired. Free case. When I went to claim my free case on the Pela website, I expected the process to be hard… I was so wrong! After entering my claim code, I could pick any case, easily upload a photo, confirm the design, and then checkout. The case was actually free! No shipping cost, or tax, or fees. During Thanksgiving, I took a family photo in portrait mode with a nice background, so that it would fit perfectly on a vertical case. That worked out really well. I just received the shipping notification today (ships from Canada), thank you!! I am very excited to get my custom case. Things I love. - Nice to the touch - Well designed - Drop proof - Ecofriendly - Free custom case!! Overall, I think that Pela is on to something great. The price felt steep initially, but you get a great case, plus a free custom case (I think that’s where the real value is). The case is also compostable, so this helps the environment. I loved my experience with Pela and highly recommend it!

Unboxing was straightforward. I do like that phone case was easy to install. Included was a QR code for a free 2nd case. Once removed I was able to insert my iPhone 16 Pro into left side then right in. The fit is snug but not too tight. Use: I think the feel of the case is smooth but not too smooth. Actually, it is the nicest to hold case I have ever had. I like the feel of the case in hand. The included QR code was easy to use and included a free second case. I uploaded a picture for a custom case. I found the website crashing easily when I was moving the picture around to just the right way. I ended up just ordering the case with the default layout of the picture I had. Still, it is nice that you get a completely free case. I do feel the camera protection is very good and the screen lip covers the phone screen just enough to be able to protect the screen from touching the surface. The color is a black with yellow and white specks in the case. You can feel them but not in a way that makes the case feel off in your hand. This is a Magsafe case so there is a large magnet on the back. The magnets are just ok. I do not feel like they are as strong as others. Accessing the ports is easy with most of my chargers, however since the case is thick your usbc needs to be full size to fit. The Camera Control area is definitely a strong spot. It is smooth and easily accessible. I am a fan of it. In all I feel like this case is excellent and very smooth to hold. It protects the phone and offers good protection from all areas. The added bonus is that it is eco-friendly which was surprising since I would have thought It would have a drawback but besides different color choices, I like this case a lot.

The Pela eco friendly cases are something I had been interested in for a while, but never fully decided to pull the trigger. Thankfully, I was able to try one out and overall was pleasantly surprised with just how nice it feels. That said, it's a bit heavier than I would like from a phone case, and the camera button on my iPhone 16 Pro is just a cutout. The first time you open and feel any Pela case proves to show just how nice an environmentally friendly case can be. The fit and finish, plus quality in general, shows. The case is soft to the touch, with a firm anti-sliding resistance to it as well. It seems to provide ample protection that should last a while. The Magsafe seems to be decently strong, which is always good. Durability is the biggest concern for me, and it's hard to rate that in a short amount of time with my case. That said, there's no signs of wear in the short amount of time I've been using it. The biggest cons for me, though, are simply the weight and camera button cutout. More case manufacturers need to figure out how to implement a camera button cover up. The camera button is hard to use in the Pela case due to how thick the case is overall. This leads me to my second con: weight. This is a big, thick, and heavy case, at least compared to sleeker alternatives. Weight may not be a con for some, but as phones get bigger I'm continually searching for a balance of weight and protection. Overall, it's a good, unique case that provides phone protection at a lesser cost to the environment.

This is my first time using their cases, and I must say I’m impressed. Let’s start with the bill quality This is an area that means a lot because you’ll be holding this case every day. This case is made from recycled grass and trees I believe, and it doesn’t feel like it. It looks really cool, and feels good to the touch. However, I have to start with a con already. And it’s the MagSafe that they use. It’s not very strong and it feels very weak after that the case is actually really solid. I like that there’s several colors you can do and combinations that you can choose of your own. Personalized the case is a cool feature, and I think many people will get excitement out of that. When you buy this case, you have the option to get a free one no matter what you choose. Once my case arrived, I went onto the website with the code included inside the box and customize a case of My own. It’s a very nice touch, I don’t think a lot of people might be A little shook by the price of $65. Yes it’s on the expensive side but basically you’re getting two cases for the price of one. And if you buy more than one case you get even more free cases so it’s kind of a win. I like it
