I bought this unit for the wireless carplay and sleek look, but the experience has been less than stellar. Saying that, when it works, it's brilliant. I haven't really bothered with any of the features outside of Carplay as the UI is extremely cumbersome and the hotspot setup is a pain. Carplay is where the trouble starts however, nine times out of ten it will not start automatically on boot-up, which leads to a trip through several clicks of the base system. I'd rather have saved my money and spent the time it takes getting to Carplay by just plugging into a non-wireless sytem. I also don't understand why these new NEX systems don't offer the ability to customize the splash screen, but that's not too much of a concern. Probably the biggest issue with this system are its touch buttons. In the event that you actually manage to hit the small touch window that activates any of the switches, there is substantial lag in any operation. Adjusting volume is an absolute nightmare and best left to the remote that comes bundled with the device (or steering wheel controls should you be so equipped). Otherwise the system is decent and gets the job done, the screen is bright and even in my convertible in direct sunlight is legible. If you can do without wireless carplay, I'd save the money and get another unit. This simply isn't worth the premium for an otherwise lackluster device. Once they sort out the software bugs that may change though.

I purchased my Pioneer DMH-W4660NEX at Best Buy a couple of months ago from their Westminster, CA, store where it was also professionally installed by their team via an appointment. So far, it works flawlessly, and exactly as advertised. The install process took about 1 1/2 hours for my 2005 Toyota Camry, roughly as anticipated. I had purchased, separately, from another source, the steering wheel control harness, and a USB port that replaces the never-used dashboard cigarette lighter. They did not complain about installing those separate items, and did a great job. I strongly recommend the steering wheel control harness be installed, since it avoids having to reach over to the touch screen when adjusting volume, changing mode, and advancing to the next selection. Also, the USB port is a very nice touch, and now I keep a USB stick plugged into it that contains my favorite tunes, music videos, and other audio/visual files. I have an Android phone, and it reliably and quickly connects with the unit's Bluetooth-enabled Android Auto with my phone in my pocket. All of the phone's Android Auto-enabled functions work flawlessly on the Pioneer unit. This includes GPS navigation, Apps such as Spotify, iHeartRadio, phone, Pandora, weather, texts, Audacy, Messenger, etc., etc. The built-in Siri works great. Phone conversations come through loud and clear to the car's speakers, and the mic that they installed is unobtrusively located just below the speedometer, so as to be as close as possible to the driver's mouth. There are no exposed wires for that or anything else. I did not opt for a backup camera, but you can have them install one if you choose to have one. Videos on the Pioneer are sharp and clear thanks to the more than adequate 720P resolution and bright LED screen. The installers also complied with the law by wiring the unit so that video on the dashboard screen cannot be watched unless the parking brake is on, for driver safety. But if you choose to add a screen for the back seat passengers, they can continue to watch video while the car is moving. Either way, the audio portion continues to play, even in the front, while driving. It's okay with me, and what is fun is playing a music video, and at a red light, engaging the emergency brake to watch the video while awaiting a green light. As a result, sometimes I almost wish that the red light would last a bit longer. My only criticism, and a minor one, is that the upper left on-screen selector icon can be a bit difficult to activate, so I end up sometimes having to press it multiple times before it works. The icon's very small size makes it a somewhat difficult target for your finger, especially while driving. But again, it's really just a minor annoyance.

This headunit is pretty good and has pretty much every function you could want. I have always been a Pioneer fan. Overall it works great. The software is what i have a problem with. The wireless apple carplay cut out sometimes but not to often. My only other complaint its the software is a little laggy. When you hit an icon there is a lag of 1-2 seconds before the unit responds. Which isnt a huge deal but is a little annoying.

Radio portion doesn’t play am stations. Apple carplay works great. Had to do a update ios but once I did it fixed connection issues. May be more radio then you will need but I always go for the bells and whistles instead of regretting it later with a lesser model. Installation was great. They said 2 hrs but ended up being 3 total.

I recently purchased this Digital Media Receiver to replace my inoperable Ford F150 radio/CD player and I am very pleased with it. Plus, the installer was very helpful on how to operate along with some video's on Best Buy that were also very helpful. The features include Phone access, music on my iphone, navitation display and sound, message notifications, and so much more that I'm discovering. This was a gift from my spouse for our 10 year anniversary and I am very I'm very happy with this product.

This headunit has been amazing. The sound quality is far superior to the factory unit. Combined with the idatalink Maestro i have all the original features such as heated seats and steering wheel. My only complaint is that it only has one usb port on the back. Overall this unit is amazing and would highly reccommend.

Had the radio professionally installed at Best Buy in a 2015 Toyota Camry. It replaced the OEM unit (non-JBL). I could not believe my ears! Despite only replacing the head unit and no other components, the sound quality improved 10 fold! There are so many equalizer and specialized sound settings that even the pickiest of audio enthusiasts can be satisfied with the sound quality. It really fills the cabin with deep, rich sound. The screen quality is clear and vivid. The screen responsiveness is good. I really like the narrow bezel which allows for maximum screen real estate. I would advise that you opt to retain steering wheel controls. Switching from a volume knob to push volume on a screen takes a while to adjust to. Pioneer out did themselves with this one! Super satisfied!

Does what it says. Widget customization is great. I have forward and back up camera up on my home screen. Car av app is a pain to use at first but once you get the hang of it youll have your own custom pics up in no time. I will say most of the negative reviews are based either on phone inconsistencies or they need professional installation. Im using a note 20 ultra and have had 0 issues going to firmware 2.0.

So far so good. I have the JP43 amplifier with 2 VXF 12s and needed a better hu than the boss I started with. This thing is awesome. Improved sound through my mids n highs, love the frequency filters. Wireless android auto is also great.

Fits perfectly in my 04 350z! Nice to have Apple CarPlay! Totally recommend!

When I first got the cereal it would have been four stars. But having been using it now for several months, and them coming out with upgrades, I would definitely say this is a five-star purchase. The ease of integration with the Android Auto really makes it 100% worth it. It will. It really brought my 2000 XJ into the 21st century. It looks like it came factory.

I got this for my 2013 Chevy Cruze and I love this thing so far. It has all the features you want including Bluetooth so you don’t have to worry about using the charger cord to play music anymore. At first I got the JVC radio in the same size 6.8” and did not like it because of having to use the charger cord for music and it did not fit my new display very well. If you have the same car as me I 100% recommend splurging in this one instead. I included a picture so you could see the difference and I think it speaks for itself .

Things are mostly good except the Nest Buy install team damaged the AC system during the installation. They did pay for the repair at the dealer but I just noticed my dash lights are not all working. The system is great. I installed these on both my vehicles.

I bought this for my son's first car. Now I want one. It does so many things and way better than my factory one. We had Best Buy to install which is worth it. I usually do not like aftermarket stereos. I feel they look cheap, however, after this one my mind has changed. We did the pioneer backup cam and it was great as well.

I had BB install this radio and the Pioneer ND-BC8 in my 2007 C6 Corvette. Great match up for an upgrade to my OEM 2007 radio. It fits and looks just like it came from the factory. My only complaint that I have is with the backup screen grid view. I don't know if it is the radio's firmware or the Pioneer ND-BC8 that is not allowing the back up grid lines to stay on each time in back up mode. I can manually touch the screen's line icon and make the grid lines come on, but those only stay on until I shift. Once I put it back in reverse, the lines are again missing until I press line icon. It seems that the viewing back up screen by default will not keep my choice to have the parking grid lines showing without me manually choosing them each time I put the car in reverse. Other than this issue, the total install, radio and camera are great.

I am quite pleased with my purchase. Installed in 2012 Chevy Equinox. Wireless Android auto is great! The system overall it's pretty quick and snappy. The preamp in the unit makes the factory system sound non existent. Great unit great price!

I bought two of these to replace the 1330NEX and 1440NEX I had in my vehicles. Both of those models were great and I never had any issues. The main reasons why I changed was because I wanted the better capacitive screen, the smaller chassis and the wireless CarPlay. My initial impressions were good. The screen is definitely better but the new interface takes a while to get used to, in fact it has a lot of stuff that I think makes it unnecessarily complicated. The new operating system also has a lot of glitches, as if they rushed this to market. The wireless CarPlay sometimes doesn’t connect and various systems disappear and reappear. I also don’t see the real need for HDMI since I can play movies from USB, and I’ll probably never use the Alexa. I’m hoping they come out with future upgrades to fix the issues I’m having because I really like the appearance of this unit. Right now if you just want a better screen, don’t need a small chassis and can do without wireless CarPlay, I’d suggest the much cheaper DMH-2660NEX.

This radio is well worth the money its connections are perfect and its sound is amazing. All features work exactly like they need to would definitely recommend.

This sounds excellent. Even with my old speakers the sound is phenomenal. The maps, phone and just everything have exceeded my expectations. A bit expensive, but I’m so happy with my purchase.

Awesome radio, looks good and easy to use. Sounds great with my system and love how the display and adjustments are.
