I don't know too much about subwoofers but the one I had didn't work with my audio system, I was pleasantly surprised with how easy this was to set up and how easy the simple instructions were to get this up and working in a very short time.

Didn't connect to my old plasma TV

They had an existing soundbar which sounded great down to the lower frequencies and this was the perfect addition for them. Added the right amount of low frequency energy to their TV experience without annoying their neighbors.
