Great Smart Floodlight

This is the second Ring Smart Floodlight that I own, got the first one 6 months ago and it works great. It provides a ton of light and it was easy enough for me to install without an electrician (watching YouTube videos helped). Utilizing it on my Ring App is convenient and easy. Small complaint, but I wish they would redesign the way the lights are capable of being directed towards, could be better for directional options. My Ring system just keeps getting bigger and bigger.

This sits on the East wall of my house. Lately the light has not been turning off. The Ring app has it off. I go and check every morning to make sure it’s off. I also bought the lil extension. The connection is consistent. It used to have a weak signal. Thinking of replacing this with flood lights and a camera. Plan to reach out to Ring.
As outdoor fixtures, it's likely your solar panels will get covered in dirt and debris from time to time. Additionally, if you live in a climate which gets snow or sea salt spray off the ocean, those can accumulate on the solar panel surface and decrease charging capability. We recommend wiping off your solar panel with a damp cloth at every season change and keeping an eye on your panels after heavy snowfall.

Product appeared to be nice quality, but not sure if it works properly because it didn’t include the bridge which is needed to work properly. The bridge is pictured with the light on the primary picture so I assumed it was included, not so. A slight case of false advertising. Another $49.95 for the bridge. Not pleased....

Brand response from Ring

Hi MrDooped,
The Ring Bridge (sold separately) is the central point for connecting all Ring Smart Lighting products. It enables smart lighting control from anywhere using the Ring app and lets Ring Smart Lighting products interact with other Ring products for enhanced security. We do notify our neighbors about the Bridge on our website (https://shop.ring.com/pages/smart-lighting) as well as on our retailer page in the Features section. I apologize for any miscommunication but we will work on providing even more transparency to our customers as we can in the future. Will you kindly connect with me via email so we can offer you additional options with the hope of turning your Ring experience around? I hope to hear from you soon.

I have been using Ring Products since day one, and I am ecstatic that the new security system & smart lights work so well with their Cameras.
PROS
- Install Anywhere
- Easily Expandable
- Uses Batteries
- Motion Sensor triggers Ring Cameras to start recording early !
- A single Motion Sensor trigger can control all Lights to Turn on
- Very Bright (I have Pathway, Single and Double Battery Motion Lights in my Yard)
- Works with Stand Alone Motion Sensor - great for placement inside a Mailbox
- Price is OK, Ring has lots of Sales, Ring Protect Plus Users can get Double Discounts (used this for Fathers Day Sale)
- Needs only One Dedicated Bridge, this seems to reduce interference with other devices in my home whether they are on Wifi or Bluetooth or RF signals.
- I have many devices installed all over the front, back and side yards of my property, using just one Smart Light Bridge, and one ZWave Extender (from Security System) and every one of the Smart lights can easily communicate with each other (so far) without issues
CONS
- Haven't Used this Long Enough to Test the longevity of the D Batteries
- The Smart Lights/Motion Sensors need to obtain the same audio alerts that sound from the Ring's Base Station their Door & Windows Sensors can generate.
- The Smart Lights need better integration with 3rd Party websites/Apps like IFTTT, so users can create macros
---- EXAMPLE - When a Motion Sensor gets Triggered (I have a sensor in a Mailbox, my Pathway Lights or the Floodlight) the 3rd Party apps should be authorized to communicate with other Devices, such as my Phillips Hue Lights, which will instruct my Hue Light(s) to either Turn On, Flash momentarily, or turn a certain color when Rings Motions Sensors are activated.

I already had a basic Ring system - 2 door bell cameras and a Ring Chime. I had the unit installed by an electrician (he was doing other work, so why not), but it seems relatively easy if you follow the instructions. It's Important to note, that you need to connect it to a Ring Bridge to get all the useful functionality out of the Flood Light. Without the Bridge, it will only work as a 'dumb' motion sensor light. I decided to set up the Flood Light & link to the Bridge first, on a table. This way I know it was working properly before the install. This is not necessary though. Be sure the Bridge (if you're using one) has a strong Signal Strength with the Router or it won't connect to the Light. (Refer to the RSSI Signal Strength - in the Bridge Device Health - the lower the better. Try to find a location where you get a value of 50 or less).

Needed to replace my existing lights since they were on all day long and not linked in to my other ring devices. They were easy to setup on ring but as is typical for ring installations, space is fairly tight. Overall doable installation but need be patient. In the end though they are a big upgrade.

Was horribly annoyed this got pushed back a few months. Only real disappointment was the lack of mobility of the spotlight heads. Other then that, lights are pretty bright, easy to install the actual hardware. It was also pretty easy to add this to my Ring system of cameras. I like that you get a get like an extra area of protection with the sensor and through the bridge link cameras and record when the spotlight picks up motion. Best of all its great to be able to control the spotlight with the app
Great product for a Ring enthusiast as myself, just largely disappointed that i cant move the heads to be position the lights because mine is mounted on the side of the house.

Great motion sensor flood light. You can adjust the angle of the lights. They are very bright and can light up my driveway all the way to the street and beyond.
However, the setting in the app is supposed to tell them to turn off after 30 seconds of no motion. Sometimes it will stay on for hours.

Had an electrician install on my garage - install seemed pretty fast but this was a replacement so had existing hard wire. I bought the bridge which is great because I set this and all of my exterior ring floods on a schedule and this light can stay on all night or activate on sensor

This motion light works great.Just buy it with the bridge and save $ 30.00 because you really need it.The light works without the bridge but you can not control how long the light stays on when activated. Without the bridge it only stays on for 20 seconds. I did not know this even reading about it before I bought. I have had the light for close to 2 months and it is working great.

Light is very bright and installation wasn’t bad. Took some time to get it to connect to my Ring bridge, but working well so far. Lower quality materials (cheap plastic) compared to Ring and the design is much more bulky.

Nice addition to my decking to supplement existing Ring cameras. It would be nice to be able to mute the motion notification similar to other Ring devices. Otherwise, all good!
