A surge protector is such a device. You can't tell if it works properly until a surge hits your device. You never know when a surge will hit your system. You may get small surges and your device will work fine. I have read that you should replace your surge protector every three years. This is why I bought this product from Best Buy. I bought this one for my computer and printers, I will get another one for my TV and modem/Wi-Fi. . I recommend a minimum of 4500 joules for all electronics.

I'm a old school gamer so I love that the outlets are space far apart so you can actually use each one without a power pack getting in the way of another outlet. also having a longer cord makes it very accessible to plug in things that may be far away from a wall outlet.

The spacing on the plugs let you plug anything anywhere. I don't use any of the additional plugs. But it does seem to reduce noise as well
