One of the best Roku devices in their line up
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I upgraded from the Roku Express to this Roku Premiere+ and it was well worth the upgrade. This device has faster responses when flipping through the menu and has dual-band 802.11ac wireless which gives faster wifi connection resulting in faster streaming. The other big difference is the remote. It has an RF wireless remote (point anywhere) which means you don't have to have a line of sight to the unit to control it like IR remotes. This means you can hide the unit behind the TV or in the cabinet and it will work just the same. The remote also allows you to connect headphones for private listening which means the sound get routed to the remote itself instead of the TV and you can listen through the included headphones, which is a really nice feature. All this plus it supports 4K HDR content. Excellent device

Great unit
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is our second one of theses. It’s very fast and responsive and just keep working. The remote is great and the headphone jack in the remote is also excellent. They sell a newer one, but this was on sale making it a great deal.

Great viewing entertainment device
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Price: The average price is about $100. Try to purchase this item when it is on sale or with coupons if you can. (I purchased it during the Thanksgiving Black Friday sale and it was worth it.) Battery Life: It comes with two name brand batteries. The batteries lasted four days in the remote and then died. I suggest purchasing recharging ‘AA’ batteries. If you are using the earpiece in the remote, it uses the battery life a lot faster then normal remote control use. So be prepared. The Roku will let you know in the upper right corner of your tv screen the battery life for the remote when it depreciates and when you first turn the Roku/tv on. When the battery dies if you are watching tv with the earpiece it will automatically stop and revert back to your television speakers, so I suggest always having the TV volume on low if you are watching TV late at night or when members of the house may be sleeping. Set up: It didn’t take that long to set up the Roku and was quite easy. Be prepared to have a smartphone, tablet, or PC nearby to register with the different codes, downloads and registration that is needed. Remote/Ear piece: The best invention since sliced bread. I literally stayed up all night and binged watched with the ear piece plugged into the remote. The fact that no one in the household could hear what I was watching, was a comforting feeling. The clarity was great and the adjusting of the volume was easy and never to loud. This was the major selling point for me and that is why I purchased two. FYI-If you can not find your remote, or the battery dies and you are in need of changing the channels. Download the Roku app and there is a feature to use it as a remote control to download apps and change channels, which is so helpful. There’s a lot of free trials for certain apps. I suggest signing up one by one to enjoy keeping money temporarily in your pocket and finding out if the app is worth keeping. Registering the Roku you will get emails for free/super cheap offers (for Direct Now, Sling TV, HBO and Showtime). There are so many apps and channels to download it will literally take you at least an hour to view all of them and see what they are all about. The only app/channel that you will have issues with (glitching, freezing, delays) is Direct Now. I hope this review helps those deciding on if this is a good investment or not. I say “yes”, I hope you do to (for a good price).

Best Streaming Device (IMHO)
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Our household has been through quite a few streaming devices: Xbox360, Blu-ray players, Chromecast, FireTV, Roku 2, but after purchasing a Roku 4, I was hooked. Fast streaming, great options, and a bonus of a HEADPHONE JACK! Yay! Did I ever think I'd be happy to have a headphone jack in a remote control? Absolutely not. Well, we're on to upgrading our dinosaur 'Roku2' and I saw BB had these Roku Premiere+ on sale and saw a headphone jack! Sold. Put it in our living room and now Hulu and Netflix allow us to switch between account users, just like the Roku 4. And - my daughter was using the headphone jack last night! Aaahhh.... quite TV.... May want to consider rechargeable batteries if you're going to use the headphone since it'll chip away at your battery life a little.

Roku or Apple TV from the novis' view
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When it comes down to it, finding what you want to watch is the most important part of having a streaming device. I had an Apple TV before getting the Roku and I was almost always frustrated. It is either so much easier to find content with the Roku or it has much more content available. I still can't believe how hard it was to find, if you could, the thing on the Apple TV. I found the only benefit with the Apple TV was the voice search. I'd much rather peck at the remote of the Roku and actually get results. If I had spent the extra money to get the Roku with the voice remote, I'm sure I'd be giving it five starts. Either way, it is easy to connect and use. It brings up much more content than the Apple TV and unlike the Apple TV, usually includes the content you want. I think Apple is more interested in using there device to market to consumers than being the best streaming device it probable could be. Of the two Roku is my choice and some unlucky friend or relative of mine is going to be getting a really nice Apple TV as a gift shortly. I hope this helped.

Faat Roku
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I upgraded from an old Roku 2, so I knew what to expect from the Roku platform. What I love about Roku is that they offer just about every app and you can customize the home screen to your liking. Unlike the Fire TV, where Amazon is trying to shove their content down your throat, Roku doesn't do that. The Premier+ itself has been a great upgrade for me. It is very fast, and I have it hardwired to my internet, so no lag time for me. I love the headphone jack, and the wife is happy now when I watch TV in bed and she can sleep. The PS Vue (updated) app is great, and the newer Netflix app (new for me, at least) is nice with the previews. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this.

Improvement over Roku 3, good for cord cutters
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Roku Premiere+ is faster than the Roku 3 and Roku 4 models and has more channels. I stream a lot of media from Plex and find that all of these units stop to refill the buffer frequently when streaming at Plex's highest playback quality settings. The Premiere+ handles 4Mbps streaming better than the Roku 3 which is where the Roku 3 hits the buffering issue. The Premiere+ hits the same issue at 9Mbps. The Premiere+ should have no problems streaming 720p and 1080p content but will lag a bit streaming 4K. Roku offers more new channels now and some of those services (including those from HBO, SHOWTIME, etc.) will make it more convenient to become a cord cutter. There are ad-supported channels that stream live TV and older movies so there is plenty of "free" content but the cut to commercial is abrupt and jarring. I can't tell if that is due to Roku or the service itself.

4 Roku Devices
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I replaced my Apple TV systems with Roku and love it. I love that it is constantly evolving from the first one I purchased to the latest. Roku is constantly adding features and services where "Smart TVs" can't or don't. I had apple for a while and while easy to use it just did not feel like a fully functioning system. It felt almost there more concerns about how my iPhone or iPad can connect to it. Why I do not know makes no sense. Anyway Roku is a must device and I take with me when I travel it allows me to log onto the Hotel Wifi and work, none of these others have that feature. Oh and remote head sets the best!!!

Good Streamer 4K
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a smart LG OLED 4K HDR TV. The built in apps work very well, there just aren't enough of them (missing HBO, Showtime and many other apps), so I wanted an all in one that did 4K. This unit fit the bill and the black friday pricing from Best Buy was a no brainer. I had to connect this directly to the TV because of the lame brains who came up with HDCP 2.2 that basically made the pass thru 4K on my, not that old, receiver worthless (when are they going to figure out that these sort of systems just don't work and are just an inconvenience). Anyway overall this is a good unit, does 4K HDR (but not Dolby Vision), it is quick and easy to use. Has a IR blaster so it works great with universal remotes, also can use an app on phone or tablet. Pretty much has every app you could want. So for the right price this is a great deal

Leader of the pack
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Out of all streaming devices on the market this is the one to get if you want to be able to stream Google and Amazon media It does it all, except Apple media, but did you really expect it to!?! Anyways, the product does as advertised and is the best option , unless you want to pony up the additional money to get the Ultra, whose only major difference is a voice remote, usb support, and an optical audio out port. If you have a 4k TV, smart or not, just get this. It's ways better than anything I've seen on a smart TV and the updates are consistent. The picture is sharp and it's overall a solid product.

Love the ease of how the remote and media player w
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have 3 Roku Premier+ and a 4th gen Apple TV. The Roku is simpler to browse and start up and the remote is easier to work than the Apple product. One of my Roku is wired to a Netgear AV500 Powerline kit and works very well. Another Roku is wired to the router via a cat6 cable ran from the basement. It works ok but keeps switching back to wireless(at least that is what the network settings shows) it is located in what has always been a wi if dead spot, however it seems to work well. The Apple TV is wired directly to the router via a 25 ft. Cat 6 cable. It performs perfectly. My third Roku has been returned to Roku because it won't stay connected to my home network by either hard wire or wi fi. I previously had buffering issues with some live streaming on Flomarching so I sent it back for replacement.

Great so far
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my 4th Roku. My original one from maybe 6 years ago still works, too. I have gradually gotten one for every tv in the house. So far I have had no problems. It is easy to set up, especially if you already have a Roku account and other boxes. I bought this model because it had great reviews and was half off. I only use it with a 1080HD tv, though. I love the Hulu and Netflix buttons on the remote, because I use those channels the most. The earphones are a nice option, although that feature stopped working on one of my other boxes after a few years.

Excellent Addition to non-smart TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this for my daughter who just went away for college. I had tried another device but had problems with it. Went to Best Buy and picked up one of these. Got back to her apartment and had it setup in no time. She was able to stream all the popular sites. Also, this thing is fast so no annoying delays between the time you push something on the remote and when the action takes place on the screen. This will display 4K but the TV it's hooked up to is only 1080p, so I can't speak to how that works. For regular HD content, though, this works great!

Roku FTW
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is how Roku is supposed to be. Being a Roku 3 owner for. While now, I love the 3, but the Premiere+ is outstanding. It is faster than the 3 and the video looks so much better. My SlingTV is much quicker and HBO looks so good! I mean really, really good. This makes me so happy to be a non-cable company subscriber.
