Pros: Inexpensive, Easy Set Up, Compact, Fast, Many Apps to Choose From
Cons: No Browser App, No Way to Mirror PC
If only this streaming stick had a Web Browser App and a way to mirror your PC, I would have easily rated this 5 stars. It simply plugs in to one of the HDMI ports (and USB port for power) on your TV and you have streaming access to Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, YouTube and more! Roku even has an app for my cable provider such that I can stream TV without needing to run the coaxial cable. And you can stream all in 1080p! I haven't had any issues with the use of this streaming stick to date.

Just amazingly good! Snappy, tiny, powerful. remote has some kind of coating that makes it feel pleasant to the touch. Please note that because this model is normally hidden behind the tv set while in use, its remote is not IR based. It comunicates with the unit via radio signal, which allows the user not to point the remote towards the tv — very convenient. However, because of this, every time you turn on the tv the remote needs a second after you push a button to initialize. You will see a battery sign on the screen which means the system is ready. Takes about a second and isn't annoying at all. I enjoy operating this unit. Buy with confidence!

The Roku Streaming Stick is easy to setup and easy to use. Just find an unused HDMI port on your TV and plug it in. Plug in the included power pack to the outside of the stick, add the included batteries to the remote control and power it up. It will find your WiFi signal. Just input your WiFi password and you’re up. Netflix is already installed. Search through the Roku store for thousands of other music and video channels and select those you are interested in viewing. Also can be remote controlled from your smartphone. Great little device.

The Roku streaming stick is exactly what is needed to stream different channels without having a smart TV. Great price and super easy set up. Love its small size, portability, and choice of free channels. The remote control is very easy to use and has convenient preset buttons. Overall, a great buy and highly recommend it. Will definitely buy more in the future.

Bought 2 of these sticks about a month ago because I was cutting the cord. I have Netflix and Hulu and that's all I needed. Saved myself $$. The stick is fast and the remote is probably Bluetooth because I can point anywhere and it'll work, and probably because it's hidden behind tv. I use the usb behind the tv so it will turn on only when the tv is on. Comes with a power block if you choose to operate it that way, but it'll be powered on all the time on saving mode. I was worried about how many apps I can download because it doesn't say anything about how much memory it has, but I have about 18. I bought these on sale at $35, great purchase. I would buy another if they go back on sale. I was debating on either the stick or the player 3 which is dual broadband, this roku picks up the 5G Wi-Fi, but I don't know if it's actually 5G capable. it does show "dual band wireless" on the box. The roku player 3 is 5G capable and wired too. And the player 3 was on sale for $50, but all sold out. Though I would have chosen the stick either way, just because it's not visible and it's portable for trips and plugging it in to a hotel tv. It is really fast to load and the remote responses fast without any lag when changing apps and typing when searching for movies, etc. It was a cheap deal so I don't regret buying 2.

The Roku streaming stick is easy to use, fast & has tons of available apps. I like the remote very smooth & simple to operate. The setup is easy to understand & the web page is outlined nicely. Plus I like the fact I can watch Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Youtube & Sling TV as well. This is definitely a must buy for consumers who want to cut the cord & get rid of cable.

The smart features on my TV weren't very smart and slooow to work with. I chose the streaming stick over the other rokus because of its point-anywhere remote. I wasn't missing out on the upgraded remote with private listening that came with the other devices because that feature is available through their smartphone app. I love the streaming stick. It's fast and the interface is easy and pleasing in appearance. All my subscriptions are all in one place. I even bought a second one for our basement. I highly recommend!

As I was already using a Roku 2 on my bedroom TV, selecting the Roku Streaming Stick was an easy decision. I was already familiar with the interface and had my account set up.
I wanted the Streaming Stick for my living room television. As the HDMI ports were on the back of the television, the RF remote was a must.
Setup of both the streaming stick and the remote was both quick and easy. As I already had a Roku account, it was just a matter of linking the new device to the account and waiting a couple of minutes for my channels to download. Pairing the RF remote was very easy and the remote works flawlessly. The wifi connection works flawlessly, it connected to my router and holds the connection easily. My only wish for the unit is that it offered type ac wifi rather than the type N that it offers. That said, I have no difficulty in streaming to the stick, with no buffering or stuttering. That's with the router on the second floor of the house.
I love my Roku Streaming Stick and the ability that it gives me to stream video to my main tv.

The Roku - Streaming Stick (2016 Model) - Black, is great for streaming the online content apps and must-watch programming such as popular tv shows to live sporting events, this powerful device holds its own among the more expensive brands, but you wouldn't know it based on the way it performs, and one of it's best features is that you can travel with it, whether in a hotel room, or dorm room you'll stay connected to the programs you love.

We have an old HDTV with no app option. We were using an Xbox 360 for viewing needs since we cut the cord and had no other way of using the TV. Well the wifey found it hard to use it moving around through the menus using the Xbox controller. The Roku was the perfect solution! With easy to use menus and simple remote and space saving size she found it easy to dig into her favorite shows and movies. We already had subscriptions through Netflix, Hulu, Amazon and others so it was an easy transition. The price was amazing since we got it $10 cheaper and overall it's been cheaper than cable so far. The only two cons that I have is that I'm not sure if it has an off option or if it shuts off when the tv is off also, you still need a second remote to turn the volume up and down. Non the less it's still a great product at a great price.

Streaming for Time Warner Spectrum

I bought this device for older HD LED 55" TV without smart features. I wanted something practical and not obvious that it wasn't another device running wires up to my TV. The USB stick plugs into HDMI which is great if it is on the side, but the power cord is USB and must be plugged (which is yet another cord from the TV). The device itself connects to Wi-Fi and delivers quality HDMI but again it's streaming off of Wi-Fi so you may get some glitches, hang ups, or other remnants from using wireless. Overall, we use this for Time Warner Spectrum (must have cable subscription and account). This is great since a set-top box costs $10 a month over the life of the subscription and the Roku was just $40. I save money in just 5 months which most contracts are 2 years. But again, buying a bunch of these may not be practical if your wireless isn't great; adding a lot of devices will make wireless performance suck especially with game systems. Anyways, other built-in apps are great and the interface takes some getting use to since for instance Netflix doesn't look the same on mobile vs Apple TV vs Roku vs Microsoft XBOX One or Sony PS4 (etc.). I would recommend anyone who subscribes to a few services (Hulu, Amazon, Netflix, etc.) to get this Roku HDMI portable stick if their TV isn't a smart device (works as intended).

I'm an avid movie/TV show collector, and most everything I own comes with a digital copy, so I (almost) always stream my content. My PS3 (from my college days) is usually used to stream Netflix, Vudu, Amazon Video, Hulu, and YouTube. After getting a projector, I moved my PS3 to it, but I still wanted access for my streaming content on the family TV. Enter Roku Streaming Stick.
This little guy runs on its own, sets up in minutes, and has its own remote control, which is why I favored it over the Chromecast. I didn't want to rely on using my phone to look up what I want to watch. I just log in to my accounts and voila it's like I just replaced my PS3. Additionally, there are thousands upon thousands of apps/channels to choose from. Plus bonus, if I'm in the mood to watch something specific, I can search for it on Roku and it will tell me all the different ways I can watch it and tell me how much it will cost, including free options. Highest recommendation.

The new (2016) Roku Streaming Stick is excellent

This version of the Roku Streaming Stick is excellent. Whereas the first streaming stick was always a good value suffered from being slow to load some channels/apps and stuttering at times on Hulu.
This version (2016) of the streaming stick suffers none of that. This is seemingly just as fast and reliable as the Roku 3 while being tiny, running cool and having the benefit of getting tucked away behind the TV.
On top of that Roku offers the most access to content of any smart TV platform while remaining the easiest to use. It may not be as pretty as an Apple TV, but its way better as you get access to just about every single content provider not named iTunes. By comparison the Apple TV platform doesn't offer access to either Amazon Prime (which is a big one) or Google Play Movies and TV.
In summary Roku is the best smart TV platform today and this streaming stick has all the performance of the more expensive Roku 3 while being a tiny streaming stick.

I have a Roku on pretty much every television I own. I subscribe to Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu. Roku is a great tool for watching shows on these televisions along with TONS of other channels to choose from. The price is very reasonable and this device means I don’t have to invest extra money on a smart TV. Plus the added bonus of being able to take the Roku with me when I travel is a huge bonus.

I love my Roku and use it on a daily basis. Even though they are portable, we bought one for each tv in the house because we use it so much. There are endless apps to offer, and lots of free stuff to watch. We predominately watch Netflix and Hulu, so we don’t even pay for cable!! We have saved so much money and haven’t been deprived of any tv shows. I highly recommend getting a Roku!

I've never tried another third party streaming hardware so can't compare but I already had a Roku stick and it was a no brainer to get this second one.
Roku is responsive and gets all the apps. I used it on my old TV and now on a new LG 4K TV because it is faster and better (I think) then the TV's 'smart' system.
The stick is inexpensive, fully functional, unobtrusive, fast (I already said that I know), and works great with the phone remote app (Android in my case.) (I don't use either factory remote as my phone acts as a remote for the TV too.)
So I had one stick for a year then bought a second for another TV. Do I like it? Heck yes. Would I recommend it? Heck yes.

I was able to get rid of my four secondary cable boxes (cable company forces you to keep one box) and replace them with four Roku sticks. They work flawlessly and are better than the cable boxes I replaced. No more monthly cable box fees. Great picture and huge variety of downloadable apps. Easy to install. Buy one you won't be sorry.
