Great value for the price!
PostedI bought this TV to replace a 40" 2013-vintage 8000 series Samsung 1080p Smart TV that was once my primary TV and had become my master bedroom TV. That TV will become my guest room TV as it still works perfectly fine. I just wanted a newer TV with 4k capability at a good price. I don't watch much TV in the bedroom but still wanted something a little larger. This turned out to be the perfect size for the bedroom. The next size up (55") would have been a bit of overkill and the next model level up (the 7100 series) didn't have enough additional kit to justify the additional expense. The TV was easy to unbox and set up. Having read the reviews and considered the recommendations of the TV mavens I set the picture mode to 'Movie' and found it to be the most realistic for my viewing (a mix of cable and streaming content). Reducing the brightness also helped. I have a 65" 8000 series in my living room and do not expect this TV to compare but for the purposes intended it is excellent. Cons? Sure. You've probably read some of the criticisms elsewhere. The remote is as basic as they come and is not back-lit. It does what it does. I use a Harmony remote to control the TV, cable box and Blu-Ray player so that isn't an issue for me. It only has 2 HDMI inputs and one USB. But that isn't a problem for me either. All that's plugged in to this TV is the aforementioned cable box and Blu-Ray player so I'm good to go. The Smart Hub interface is a little klutzy but is actually an improvement over the more expensive TV in my living room -- THAT interface is just awful and I don't understand why Samsung can't do this better but then I think of my experience with their Galaxy and Note smartphones with their bloatware and fiddly interfaces and I'm not surprised... The sound actually isn't bad. If this is the centerpiece of your home theater experience you will have to do something to improve it, though. It's more than adequate to watch the news or other programs where you're not too focused on sound quality. I would mention that, for setups like mine where the TV is mounted on its included legs and not hung on a wall, it would have been wise for Samsung to offer a soundbar that would have fit the gap between the legs. Theirs are too wide for that application so I'm acquiring an ABOX Soundbar with Subwoofer from Amazon. That soundbar is reasonably priced, well reviewed and according to the specs at 33.8" width should just fit between the legs of the TV. In closing, if you're looking for a quality TV at a value price you would do well to consider this TV!

Nice TV but some small hiccups
PostedI bought this TV about two weeks ago during Best Buy Black Friday sale for $327.00, which is a steal. As long as you are not expecting 4k visual quality for 4k tv's in the $700.00 and up range you'll be fine. I purchased this TV after reading the reviews on Best Buy website. There were some reviews that stated they had no picture after purchasing the TV, getting home & hooking everything up and turning the TV on. Some reviews stated because this Samsung model had the old wifi standard of 801. 2c and not the new 5c standard that the streaming of tv shows can be slow. Because you have to wait for the picture to buffer as the tv is trying keep up with the slow wifi streaming. Well unfortunately that is what happened to me when i purchased the TV got home and hooked everything up and turned on the TV. There was no picture!!!, long story short Best Buy took care of my purchase and I received another brand new TV in exchange. Got home hooked up the TV and presto!! I had a beautiful 4k picture and voice greet me to set up my TV. The picture on this 4k tv is beautiful and for only $356.00 total dollars you would be hard pressed to find a better picture on more expensive 4k tv models. The sound on this TV is great and I love the 120 motion refresh rate. I like how the refresh rate give Tv shows and movies that live look, like if you were right there while they are filming. But the reason why I'm giving this TV only 3 stars is because of the slow Wi-Fi streaming. There are times I'm trying to watch TV shows streamed over Wi-Fi and this TV is literally buffering almost every 5 minutes to the point where watching streamed shows over wifi is unbearable. I'm hoping that Samsung comes out with an update to improve the Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi streaming on this TV.

An honest review
PostedI just recently bought this TV for my parent this Black Friday 2018 at a fair price. Picture quality is very good as expected from this price range. However, viewing angle are not great. For example, if you moved to the right or left of the TV the color or picture will start fading into a whitish color. So in my view this TV is only good if you are viewing it straight at it but to those who is looking at it from a different angle will be disappointed. Audio in this TV is good. Another bad thing about this TV is that FPS (or whatever you want to call it) is not great but good. When watching a scene with fast movement you can tell that the TV is trying it best. I can't complain too much about FPS since it is a budget TV. Another thing that I notice is that it doesn't have an ON or OFF switch or button for the power or other source on the TV itself. So if you loose the controller, good luck. This TV also doesn't have RCA connector ( I don't know what those are called) but just only two HDMI port. So if you are planning to connect your old DVD player or other device you will have to buy an adapter which will probably cost you another $50 or so then you have already add another amount the TV. So I suggest that if this is important to you then you should look at other 4K HD TV with those features. Sorry if this review is bad or hard to understand but it is just something that I would like others to know about this TV before their purchase. I wouldn't recommend this TV to other. I bought this TV because I thought that since it is SAMSUNG it will be good but my mistake.

Non 4K picture isnt very good
PostedFirst off I know this is a very cheap 4k tv so wasn't expecting a "great" picture from it on non 4k video but good lord how can this TV have so many 4 star reviews let alone 5 stars. I have been using my 42" 720p Panasonic plasma as my main tv ( small living room) for 7 years and love it just kept getting the "itch" to try a new 4k tv and I have a 4 year old 40" Samsung 1080p led tv in my bedroom that's has a good picture (not as good as my 42" plasma) but good enough I thought I would give this TV a shot and after watching it and messing with every setting (I mainly used rtings.com calibration settings and made some tweaks) I have to say that the picture quailty on non 4k is bad..it's not very sharp and as another reviewer had mentioned it looks little fuzzy; and I knew this going in but man the viewing angle is bad so plan on sitting directly in front of it .. My 7 year old 42" 720p Panasonic Plasma was noticably better at everything as far as picture quality. Even my gf who knows nothing nor cares about hdtv said "your old tv looked way better". it just isn't a tv to buy for any kind of upgrade to 4k (unless your going to use it for 4k way more that non 4k) Again I know this is Samsung's lowest end model for a 50" with 4k but no way would I ever consider living with it's below average picture. I did borrow friends 4k DVD and watch Avengers and it was pretty nice but it didn't blow my mind with the picture quality. If you was to mainly only watch 4k I could see liking it and for the price it's a very good deal for that. But if your thinking of "upgrading" to a 4 k tv to mainly watch non 4k video (which is what most people watch with so limited 4k material) dont waste your time on this model unless your upgrading from a cheap 1080p tv that doesn't have a good picture. For me it's a 1 star tv but with the cost being so low and the decent but not "wow look at that" image I bumped it up to 2 stars.

Great Budget 4K TV
PostedFor my usage I almost would rank this a 5 star TV, but the reasons why I’m docking it a star is for the following reasons. 1. Only 2 HDMI inputs. I cut the cable years ago and only needed a TV for streaming purposes. Someone wishing to hook up multiple devices will need to go to a higher end model. One note about this, it was the Black Friday model which had one less HDMI input. The regular version that costs about $100 more had 3. I only needed the 2 inputs for my need so this was not an issue. 2. Apps freezing. Netflix has worked flawlessly, but Hulu, Vudu and Prime all glitched. Looked online and this apparently can be a problem with this model. I hard reset the TV and then disabled the TV from opening last used app. So far that has resolved this issue. Will update the review if it continues to persist. If you’re like me and wanting this TV for simply using the apps then this could be a dealbreaker. Luckily I already have fire sticks if this continues to be an issue. 3. Sound. Surprisingly decent for a tv this size, but subpar if you’re used to a decent sound setup. I added a Sony sound bar to it which worked great, yet the TV has pretty short legs so the sound bar blocks the IR signal. The sound bar I have is very small. I created my own TV riser with an Ikea hack and fixed this issue. Those are my main concerns or complaints with this model. For the price and it’s use though I’m very pleased with the purchase thus far. If this was the centerpiece of my home theater I would be disappointed. Just keep that in mind when purchasing. Bottom line, great bedroom TV, but more for a true living room home theater setup. For that I would at least jump up to the $600-$1000 range for budget 4K TVs.

Super Versatile! Monstrous speakers
PostedThis TV is fantastic for the price. My first ever 4K TV and I'm not the least bit disappointed. The picture is everything you'd expect from Samsung... and more. I haven't even tapped into the display's full potential, but having owned Samsung smartphones in the past and currently, I know what they're capable of. The color is SUPER vibrant and can give you that extra boost of color you might want to make nature scenes truly pop. It definitely looks like you are either standing or sitting right there whether it be a Netflix series or live sports game. The detail is unmatched. I like the fact that there are a plethora of settings to tweak the display JUST to your liking. For those who prefer more color accurate displays without the excessive contrasting and vivid color palettes that Samsung are known for, there is definitely an option for that. Several different eco modes and options for those looking to reduce electric costs. I like the fact that I can also display my phone's screen right up on the TV and just the other day, I even accidentally found out that I could do the same with my 2018 MacBook Pro and mirror everything or even use my TV as a secondary external display. The speakers are insanely loud. I've yet to go over about the level of 37 (per the TV) before it either became to uncomfortably loud for me or I risked disturbing other neighbors. I've used TV's before that looked great but definitely had some lack in their speaker department. NOT this TV! Samsung definitely brought it when it came to the sound on this unit. You also have a couple of different options for surround sound and Dolby, etc. For under $400, you are getting a unit with arguably the best picture quality on the market with a happy addition of smart capabilities that will not only work, but even coexist with other devices even from a different company such as Apple. A truly versatile and adaptable smart device that definitely has my 5 stars.

Decent for the Price
PostedThe Good: The price for this TV on Black Friday was excellent. It’s a perfect for a small/ medium bedroom. Great entry level 4K televisions. The Not So Good: 1. It isn’t True HDR. 4K is great but if you want a TV that takes advantage of HDR content like myself, then the 8 series is worth the upgrade. 2. There are only two HDMI ports. So, perfect for a bedroom where you’re using one or two small 4K devices. Not so great if it’s your only TV and you need more HDMI ports. 3. Very slow processor. This means using smart hub is laggy, slow and frustrating. If your not using smart devices and want to use the built in Apps like Hulu, Netflix, Direct TV Now, then you’ll need to accept the slow loading times and laggy interface. Some of the apps just don’t plain work at all like they’re supposed to. 4. This TV only has two sizes. This means software updates and app updates for this model TV to fix any issues might be close to non existent. Currently I haven’t seen any updates sent out for this model so far, so support might be far and in between. 5. No Bluetooth support. At all. I would recommend this TV to anyone wanting it for their bedroom or guest room, but if it’s the only 4K TV you’re planning on buying, then consider the 8 series in any size. The 8 series has more HDMI ports, better HDR programming with HDR Pro, a faster processor so Smart Hub And navigating through the settings is quick and effortless and there is Bluetooth.

terrible picture
PostedOn my quest to find the right tv purchase I first purchased a 55" Samsung NU7100, picture quality was beautiful but the 55" was a tad too big for my space and the HULU app glitched so I returned it and bought this 50" NU6900 in hopes the app worked. Well the HULU app was fine but the color on this tv was terrible compared to the NU7100. It was very dark and just not a nice pic, I played with the settings for hours and never could get the picture to look nice. Even my teen son, who really does not care anything about tv's, said that this one needed to be returned as it looked awful. I returned this tv and ended up purchasing the Samsung 49" Q6FN as it was on sale which also appears to have a glitch in the HULU app but the picture is very nice other than the stupid auto motion plus feature on these sets. I may return this one and go with a 120 hz panel which means I will have to get a Sony as all of these Samsung 49-50" models have the 60hz panels with the auto motion plus feature that you have to disable unless you like watching tv with a soap opera effect. I can't stand it so had to turn it off. I wish I had known all of this prior to shopping as it is difficult to even figure out that these motion flow 120 specs are misleading as it's actually a 60 hz refresh rate, not 120 hz. It's a fake 120 which doesn't work for me.

Upgraded to a bigger and better tv
PostedJust wanted to start off by saying that I am not the most knowledgeable about TVs and uhd so this review is from an average viewer watching mainly streaming services. The last tv I had was an 8 year old or so 32" APEX that still has no issues playing content. Got the Samsung 50" at a great price on Black Friday for around $350 after tax. The picture is a major improvement. I have a small living room so the sound and picture quality is really good in my small space. The tv hub is ok. Nothing special. Sometimes the navigation seems slow here. The only problem that I've experienced so far is that hulu wouldn't play anything after a few days of having the tv. It would just say playback error. I unplugged the tv for 10 minutes and plugged it back in and it started to work again. Had the problem one other time. Maybe hulu has a hard time with the ultra HD idk. Hopefully no other issues and this tv can last a few years. Will update if I have further issues, but overall a great upgrade for a reasonable price.

Great video & sound qualities, but limited options
PostedThe Samsung NU6900 is a decent entry-level 4K LCD TV. It has an okay picture quality with a high native contrast ratio but lacks other more advanced features like local dimming to enhance image quality. It can't get very bright and does not have a wide color gamut, so it cannot deliver good HDR performance. It has a low input lag and a fast response time which are good for games, but motion handling is only mediocre. The design of the Samsung NU6900 is excellent and very similar to the higher end model NU7100. The TV casing is made of plastic but this does not look bad. The stand supports the TV well and the TV is very thin. If wall mounted, it will not protrude much. The build quality is decent and should not cause any issues. The Samsung NU6900 has a decent picture quality with excellent contrast ratio and great out of the box color accuracy. It cannot get bright enough to overcome glare and it cannot display the director's intent when displaying HDR content due to the lack of a wide color gamut and the crushing of highlights. Viewing angles are bad, and reflection handling is decent. A small dim room is the best environment for this TVs picture quality. The sound quality of the Samsung NU6900 is decent. This TV gets decently loud, but may not be loud enough for larger and noisier environments. It also has a decent bass, but doesn't produce any thump or rumble in the sub-bass range and lacks a bit of punch and body to the bass as well. However, it produces clear and intelligible dialog and has low distortion. For a better sound, dedicated speakers or soundbars are recommended. The Samsung NU6900 has the same interface as the NU71000. It is smooth, easy to navigate and works well although there is some lag when accessing it from within the accompanying app. Unfortunately, like all Samsung TVs, there are ads that cannot be removed and the Samsung remote app, although simple, is very basic compared to the apps of other TV brands. Overall great entry-level 4K TV!

50" Samsung
PostedPurchased this tv for my downstairs room that I have set up as a little spot to play on the computer, watch the news in the morning while having coffee. I replaced an non-smart Insignia tv that I sold to my ex because she was too cheap to go the store and buy a real tv and I figured, what the heck, I can get a 4K for not much more than I'm selling here my old Insignia for, so I get an upgrade for $150. Overall not a bad tv, does it compare to my Sony 4K Ultra with HDR, heck no, but for $329 not bad at all. All the smart features work well, was not able to locate a 5ghz wifi signal because from what I've read this tv does not have the capability, but all my network traffic is on the 5ghz so it works fine and have not had any issues. Picture is decent, have not watched a Blu-ray or 4K video in it yet, but like stated, purchased for the downstairs room and for the most part watching the news with it. Overall I would rate this tv as four stars and why I would give it four because for the price it does quite well. Would it compete with the higher end tv's, no way, but for the price it does good. I wish it did have the 5ghz connection rate so drops the score a little bit, but if you're looking for a decent tv for the bedroom, kids room, something you don't want to spend over $1000 for than this tv is not bad at all. Like I said, if you're expecting the same quality as the higher end tv's than you probably be disappointed, but perfect fit for the price and could not beat it.

Picture quality good, smart apps bad
PostedI bought this for Black Friday because it was a good deal and Samsung is a reputable brand. The picture quality is good - the screen brightness is a little subpar, though I admittedly didn't have a chance to play too much with customizing the picture settings. However, I ultimately returned the TV because the Hulu app was defective. I realize that it might seem a bit ridiculous to hinge the decision on one app when we have so many other media streaming devices that I could watch from, but the convenience of a smart TV is that you shouldn't need additional devices. I also realize this likely is an issue with the Hulu app itself - Netflix worked just fine - but I didn't feel like going through hours of troubleshooting between Samsung and Hulu for something that honestly should have been caught in some QC process when the app was submitted to their Hub (which is curated, so it's not like they wouldn't have seen it). I did some basic troubleshooting - re-installing the app a few times, resetting the TV - but that didn't work, so I returned it and picked up a similarly priced deal for a comparable brand/model where all the apps work out-of-the-box and I don't have to contact support to get the basic, advertised functionality.

Awesome vibrant colors
PostedThe Samsung UHDTV 6 Series is the first 4K television we have owned. We have now owned it for approximately 8/9 months. I love the quality of the sound and the beautiful vibrant colors while watching 4K programs. Even the non 4K is absolutely beautiful. I didn’t realize you can only use certain sound bars but that’s not a big issue. My biggest issue with this television is how hard it is to get it to connect to the WiFi. We literally have the router box connected to this television and we still constantly have problems with it connecting. We have to continually turn the television off and try to get it reconnected even though it’s directly plugged into the television. We have 3 other televisions in our home and this is the only one that has problems staying connected to the WiFi. One of our televisions is around 6 years old and never loses connection to the WiFi and it’s not directly connected. It becomes quite irritating having to deal with this issue on a daily basis. Our next 4K will not be a Samsung, sadly.

Best bang for your buck
Postedat least it was on black friday for me lol ended up paying under 300 with all my rebates and for that price you cant complain, I dont have expirence with more high end tv's so seeing this tv I see no flaws with picture quality and it looks amazing. which is what I was expecting I had seen samsung displays before and that's what gravitated me towards this purchase. however. there are some things I dislike about it but its mostly just my opinion. I cant stand the big brand smart tv's, maybe its because I'm paying budget price but they always seems to have the most obnoxious lag on them. was like this on my last tv as well which was an LG. a friend of mine had shown me her roku tv and I fell in love with how much faster and simplistic everything worked and felt on a roku tv for that reason I upgraded to a TCL roku tv and have been more than happy with it. also with the samsung you only get 2 hdmi's, one of which I was using for my roku streaming stick, so basically one.. with my roku tv it came with 3 hdmi ports, which are all available since I wont need the streaming sitck anymore. anyways, nice tv but the smart functionality really needs to be overhauled for someone like me to enjoy using it.

A Great TV And Deal
PostedA couple of small beefs before I get to my review. Like another customer pointed out, you have to make sure you check the model number on the box if you want the model with the faster wifi. I thought I was buying that model but ended up with this one instead. And Samsung uses a larger screw than normal when mounting the TV, M8 with a length of 43-45 and a pitch of 1.25. I needed to make a quick run to the local Ace Hardware store. The review of the TV is as follows. Excellent picture quality and sound. I love the smart hub and how it functions. The TV Onscreen Guide for upcoming programs using an antenna is useful for me and it has a decent amount of apps although I prefer my Roku for that. Some things I disliked on my 4k Hisense TV like feeding the audio through my Sony receiver caused lip synch issues and the HDMI ARC did not work correctly, are not present on my Samsung. Everything is perfect and I can now utilize the HDMI ARC functions. The few negatives are 2 HDMI connections and 1 USB but since the Samsung works so well with my Sony receiver it cancels out the first negative for me. The TV can be slow to carry out remote control commands at time. But all in all an excellent TV.

Great TV! No Seriously
PostedA few years ago, I gave my parents my old 32 inch Dynex TV that I bought from Best Buy back in around 2008 to replace an older 27 inch clunky ray tube that was giving them problems. After some years later, the Dynex started showing weird color patterns and I decided that it was time to buy my parents a brand new TV. Now, my parents are in their 80s. They do not need anything THAT special but when I saw this TV on sale on Black Friday, I had to get it. Long story short, this 50 inch TV is bright, colorful and loud for them. I decided to go with Samsung because I have a 32 inch Samsung that is a year old for my bedroom and it has treated me well so I wanted to stay loyal to the brand. My parents do not play video games or stream but they needed a bigger TV and this one fits them perfectly, even if they do not use all of the "smart" features. So to close this review: They are happy and I am happy that I bought this TV for them. No regrets at all.

Great price - terrible features and image quality
PostedI bought it cause it was the only one with 120 hz on image quality so it was supposed to be great. Turns out it is not. I have another Samsung 40” 4K at home and is one year old and I connected them side by side and compared them and the old one was so much better. Besides this tv doesn’t have RCA connectors so I couldn’t connect my sound bar. Also and most importantly, it doesn’t support 5G network which means streaming and content is gonna be played in a lower image quality and also tv works slower. Trying to open an app or launching anything just takes longer than in my older tv. I’m returning it tomorrow and will try to find a better deal on Black Friday. Not recommended at all. If you can and have $100 extra go with the 55” on the 7100 series version. That’s a good one.

So far happy with my purchase
PostedI have a long sorted story about how my last Samsung 1080P TV worked just fine and then 9 months later the addition of a Samsung soundbar revealed an audio dropping issue. I fought with Best Buy and Samsung for 2.5 months, got the TV repaired only to see that the problem persisted. Both San Jose Best Buy stores turned me away but the Mountain View store took care of me. I was able to exchange the 9 month old TV, get store credit and I ended up with this TV. I was a bit worried that the upconverting would be too much as we mostly watch broadcast, or Dish which is at most 720P or 1081i. I'm happy to report that the upconverting works great and the picture is very nice. I also went back and got another sound bar and the combination works as advertised. Thanks to the management staff at the Mountain View store for taking care of a long time customer as I was about to stop buying from BB forever. Now I know I just have to be careful which store I buy from. I would recommend this TV to folks who are used to Samsung and who like the vivid picture Samsung provides.

Good picture quality. Good smart features.
PostedWe recently upgraded TV's due to aging eyes! Upgraded from a 32" to a 50". We are pleased with the image quality and the build quality of the TV. We have an A/V receiver attached and set up so that the receiver turns on with the TV. The TV volume controls the receiver volume. We use the TV Smart features instead of the ROKU premiere that we were previously using. This means that for most things we have true one-remote operation. Most days we operate everything with the TV remote, unless we are doing something special (the Wii and the DVD player go straight to the receiver-using those requires different remotes.) We spent a lot of time comparing this Samsung vs. a similar LG. The LG was cheaper and had similar reviews-the primary differences seemed to be the Smart features and side-viewing. In the end, we have more experience with Samsung and went with what we know. We are pleased with the purchase.

Watch the Model Number, otherwise good TV
PostedI picked up this TV for my bed room. The 4K picture is sharp and the HDR does add richness to the picture. For 2018 Samsung offered the UN55NU6900BXZA and UN55NU6900FXZA. Both are UN6900 TV's with the same picture and quality, except one little thing. The UN55NU6900BXZA only has WiFi N wireless, and the UN55NU6900FXZA has WiFi AC wireless. So same TV, but slower Wifi. If this matters you should insist on the UN55NU6900FXZA. I unfortunately didn't listen to my gut and I didn't know until I got home that there was a difference. The salesman at Best Buy said they were exactly the same but he was wrong.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
