This tv is fabulous. Picture is awesome, has a 240 motion rate so it’s sweet with action and has all of the apps you could want. Over all it’s the best tv I have purchased and for the price it’s amazing.

I’ve only had this TV for two days, and I’m already going to return it. It’s either way too dark, or way too bright. Almost everything I’ve watched looks like I’m using a tube TV. Especially the Samsung TV Plus that it comes with- news, weather, other channels. The quality is horrendous. The only thing I like is the refresh rate is great. This TV was almost twice as much as my TCL roku TV, but that one had better looking picture, even older content. I’ve tried to fine tune it, but again, still blurry and too dark, or blurry and too bright.

I've had this 55" RU8000 for about a week and a half now. I think the 4K upscaling is terrific; really improves the look of lower resolution content. Colors are great. I've settled on leaving it set to Movie mode, but changed Movie mode's color profile to "Warm1" (from its default of Warm2, which is a little to "warm" for me.). I've not touch the tint, or RGB settings or whatnot at all. Because it's an edge-lit LED panel, the brightness isn't as high as with a (more expensive) back-lit LED panel. That said, I find the backlight brightness much more than adequate when watching regular (i.e, non-HDR) content. Only time I wish brightness was better is when watching HDR content. For HDR, the TV automatically turns up the backlight setting to max, but I find I have to also turn up both its brightness and contrast to settings to max, too, and also set Contrast Enhancer to "high". Otherwise, the picture is just too dark. With those settings, I find the HDR picture perfectly watchable, but because of the edge-lit LEDs, the extreme brights that some HDR scenes have, this TV is just not capable of doing. Not a deal breaker for me, and I suspected this would likely be an issue with it before I got it. (Note that I don't have to change the settings I mentioned every single time I want to watch HDR content: conveniently, the TV seems to remember what settings I used last time I watched HDR content and restores them the next time it detects HDR content.) The smart tv UI is nice and responsive. I have had a couple of the apps stall out when they're trying to start streaming, etc., and only way to fix them is to turn off the TV and turn it back on. This has only happened a couple times. Bigger annoyance is that it seems if you unplug and plug in any HDMI cable, or move them around, it causes the smart tv settings to reset. i.e., my home screen completely resets such that apps I've put there disapppear, and apps that were there by default that I deleted suddenly re-appear. And it then wants me to go throught the TV's "first time setup" app. The TV seems to detect HDMI changes and does this reset even when its turned off. Sound is actually pretty decent. Because I tend to have trouble hearing dialog in some shows, I did buy a simple 2.0 sound bar (samsung HW-N400), but I found it to be actually worse than the TV's speakers. The sound bar improved the midrange, but this was at the expense of the bass and treble that the TV turned out to be better at. Without decent treble, I found dialog was worse with the soundbar than without it. I ended up returning the sound bar. (well, full disclosure: I actually exchanged it for a different model/brand, but details are better left to a different review.) I was a little leery of the remote, but I quickly learned to really like it. Much nicer than one of those gigantic remotes that have 50-some buttons on them.

The TV is very easy to setup. I do wish there were a few more picture presets to work with. Some sports need to be in dynamic and then regular TV/Movies in normal mode (3 total modes). I also wish the stand was in the middle. The feet off the TV are to the side and can be a problem if you are using a table that is smaller (say out of a corner with the screen going over the edge of the table). I just barely was able to make it work. The picture quality is great overall and the smart TV functions work really well.

This is a good and affordable TV that I helped my mom get and setup for her. We got this TV for around $700 plus tax. The picture quality is 2nd best to QLED 55 inch. The features are good but the remote control is terrible. I do not like the remote control but it's only for controlling the TV for settings and steaming apps. Overall it's a good TV for those who want the 2nd best thing they can afford.

I had a 52" Sony TV that failed, and after some research this appeared to have all the features I wanted, and it looked like a very suitable replacement. My local Best Buy had the model in stock, and it was also on sale. I purchased it in-store, and the staff was very helpful in getting it loaded into our vehicle. At home, the setup was relatively easy, though I needed to get a different set of bolts to fasten it to our wall mount. Once installed. We powered it up and walked through the setup. The entire process was very easy. The remote is tiny, but has all the necessary features. The home button provides access to the online menu, and navigating is very straight-forward. The remote's up/down controls for volume and channel took a little getting used to, but they work fine. The picture quality is fantastic. The upconvert on DVDs seems significantly improved compared to my prior TV, and even the quality of standard def 480i OTA channels looks superb. The sound is surprisingly good. I found the Optimized Sound Mode works very well for times when I want clear sound at a lower volume without using my external speaker system. One thing I absolutely love about this Samsung TV is the built-in guide. It provides seamless integration between OTA channels I receive and streaming channels provided by the TV. This is something that most other brands either don't seem to provide or don't do as well. The only thing I disliked was the amount of automatic tracking that the TV enables by default. After it was setup, it took a while to locate and disable all of the tracking features that got turned on, some of which I don't recall agreeing to. Overall, this is a great TV and well worth the price I paid.

Replaced my Panasonic Viera Plasma with this 55” Samsung. It was important to me to have the natural 120. Samsung does a great job with their specifications transparency. This tv has the 240 true motion (120 natural). The price was absolutely unbeatable, Best Buy always has the best prices! The unpacking and set up video from Best Buy was fantastic. The tv itself is amazing! Picture is incredible, so life like and so much depth, the smart interface is great and simple and the remote is small, modern and convenient. The TV does a great job recognizing all of our external devices. All in all, no complaints just really happy with this purchase!

This is a great TV. It took me a while to get the picture to where I liked the way action scenes looked but once I got it, happy happy joy joy! The sound is pretty good as well but it does have a hard time with bass with the volume at 25+. I recommend a sound bar if you like to have the volume high. It was easy to set up. Watching 4k movies is awesome. It's so realistic it's like mini actors are stuck in my TV and acting just for my family. Way better than an LG 4k tv that I tried and returned the next day because it was horrible. You can check out reviews on the you tube to see in depth reviews that explain better. For the price you can't get anything better.

My first impression of this TV which we have had for a couple weeks is how clear and easy the setup was. I also love the options it has of different types of lightings, which we adjust depending on what we are watching... for example, bright for sports. it also has an option to auto-adjust the brightness of the screen which we initially thought was great but changed back to manual. The picture is nice. My only "complaint" ( reason for 4 stars instead of 5) is that now we need two remotes. i like the remote that came with the tv but it doesn't have the options that our regular remote has that came from the cable company.

The picture quality is unbelievable! I expected a better picture but not this much....the image is sharp and clear, motion is fast, no blurs or pixels.....and I don't have cable....it is all internet via Samsung Smart TV and Roku....These TV's cost a little more but they are worth the investment....the speed and motion alone is awesome for those action films. Colors is solid and deep.

This TV is great quality! The images on the screen are very clear, and the direct sound output is decent. The TV was also fairly easy to set up ourselves, and the instructions for the setup (for the physical part and the on-screen portion) were easily understandable. I'd recommend getting a sound bar to pair with the TV. We've bene using the TV for more than a month now, and it works great.

Our TV was purchased at Best Buy because of the great sale price for the Samsung TV, accessories, extended warranty, total tech support and setup of TV, sound bar and stand. Also, this was the only store that would take away our old TV. The tech people were very patient and thorough in completely explaining how to use the TV system. Tech support for all our TV’s, iPhones and iPads is just a phone call away. The clarity of the picture and sound of the TV is amazing. The sound bar is the key to true theater experience. The picture is so clear it seems you could reach out and physically touch the actors. The colors are so very vibrant. We found that the Samsung TV is extremely user friendly, which was greatly appreciated.

I purchased this TV to replace a 10 year old LG. I was looking for a better picture with smart TV capabilities. This model caught my eye and after researching it a bit, I decided to buy one. After installation, which I did myself, the TV start up procedure went smoothly. I immediately tested the set with some action Blu-ray videos and was blown away! The colors were vibrant, there was no smearing or lag during periods when lots of action occurred and the depth of field crisp. At times it felt as though I was watching a 3D image on a 2D screen. Truly impressive. I have only had the set for a couple of weeks now and everything is running fine. The differences in performance between this Series 8 TV and the first level of OLED's offered by Samsung seemed imperceptible to me. Unless you are some high power video user, you will not be disappointed in purchasing this TV. Enjoy!
