best color laser for the budget

This was the best purchase I made because the low price of a laser printer with the ability to print in color. The toner drum is seperate from the ink so the refill is cheaper. The color is in individual cases, so replacing only the one needed is cost effective. There is a collection bin for the excess dust that builds. The machine is loud but not so much that you can't print in the middle of the night. The power button is in the back making it difficult to turn it on and off to save power. Over all it's a great printer. My last laser printer from samsung lasted 8 years so I expect even better from this one.

Ok...if you plan on buying this machine because it's a Samsung...don't as it's pure junk and the software is not good either. Customer service is the worst I have ever dealt with and being a service tech for our plotters were I work this was one of the worst pcs. of junk ever. The customer service rep said to clean it and blah...blah...blah. The typical troubleshooting anyone can do and that was it. We got it at staples and they do not back-up the products they sell and did not take it back as a return. So, we bought one around $300 when we got it, new cartriges $180 and now through the first set of cartirges and the printer has errors out the wazoo and is estimated to only get 2000 prints...that works out to be $0.25 per page and hardly worth it at all. These machines do not function when out of toner and have a page counter built in to stop use of cartriges even if toner is still in them...Junk...Junk...Junk. So, when purchasing these laser deals, shop the replacement toners to compare price because it "WILL BITE YOU" if you don't and I regret every bit time and money spent of this stinking machine. Samsung needs to just stop making printers and focus on tv's. So, after reading this...make a wise decision and buy something else cuz Samsung printers are a literal nightmare...do the research and find out from more reviews on help boards...Samsung will say they have never ever had a problem and that the products are great even when you call them about your nightmare of a problem that always existed. and for all the other good reviewers...out of the box it worked just fine until you get about 4-6 months into using it and the problems appear as though they are built in the software to pop up and make you service the heck out of it and spend more money on thier junk to fix it like the rediculous imaging units and so on. Pen or pencil anyone?

Bought this after considerable hunting, and on customer reviews. Worked fine for 3 months, then started to get the dreaded 'Paper Jam' message.
Ended up talking to Samsung support who gave me a repair number and told me to take it to my local repairer (60 mile drive away).
They couldn't find problem so installed some parts and called me to say it was fixed.
drove back to get it and set it back up at home, it wouldn't work, had the same fault. Drove it back up for another repair! Samsung them authorized a replacement, and sent one. Set it up, and got a different error message unrelated to first problem (Belt problem this time).
forced to drive it back to repairer (Now a total of 360 miles driven and still no working printer.
BUYER BEWARE..........IT IS GARBAGE!!!

Won't work for Mac OS or Linux

Regardless of whether it was networked or directly connected to Mac or Linux computers, this printer would randomly interrupt print-jobs, print whatever pages from a long print job it wanted (not just the first few or last few - just any random pages it wanted), and display errors. Using Terminal, it was apparent that the printer was acknowledging each print-job, but was only printing some of them. Samsung Level I and II tech support couldn't address the issue, even with updated drivers and OS software, and the Samsung Authorized Technician in my area only had a Windows computer, with which it apparently worked correctly, so he was unable to correct the problem. When the printer did print, the quality was quite good, but as it only printed sporadically, it wasn't worth the hassel to try to coax each page and each print job out of the printer through multiple attempts at printing. I returned the Samsung and bought a Brother, which is black-and-white only, but prints faster, has less expensive toner, and costs $100 less.

I love my new printer, I use it for school works. i have print a lot and the cartridges look the same on the fill status. Very easy to set up , less than 5 minutes. Great size and look. It is a very good investment, so far I have not have any problem with it. I can even print my pictures and they come up just fine. It is also very fast.

This printer has vibrant colors!! I printed the back ground picture on my desktop and it was an exact matched of the desktop picture. The fusion of colors is great!! I did have a little trouble setting up the wireless printing feature, but the results are worth it!!

WOW DOA ... Had to go return it to the store and the unfortunate thing is that you can only purchase most laser printers online now and coincidentally this model is unavailable to purchase on most online stores which tells me their mostly all defects..
