I like the slim design, I put this on a mount underneath the tv and it is very streamlined. The sound is great for such a small device and the sound fills the room. Integration with Symphony was seamless. Be sure to download the soundbar app if you mount it as you can’t get to the buttons easily. This has worked well and allows you to adjust the sound as you find appropriate for what you are listening to.

I know nothing about the latest and greatest sound products. I went into Best Buy to purchase a $150 Samsung soundbar & somehow ended up leaving with this one a good $800 later. I love the sleek design which was a huge selling point for me. It sounds great (average untrained ear). I keep the sound level around 17.. it’s rare that I go above 25. I’m happy with my purchase, no regrets.

Samsung Ultra Slim Soundbar. In a way, glad I didn't find this sooner as Samsung recently updated to the HW-S800D to include eARC (only ARC on the old "B" model). While obviously not a match to a good sound system, and while there may be better soundbars, none are as aesthetically pleasing as the HW-S800D

A súper speaker of very good quality with excellent sound and powerfull

Samsung's new HW-S800D 3.1.2 sound bar system does a great job for smaller areas that don't need complete audio immersion. The box includes the sound bar, subwoofer, power cords, HDMI/mini-HDMI cable, remote control, mounting hardware + brackets, and quick user guide/paperwork. The monitor comes with a manufacturer's 1-year warranty. PROS: ----------- * The sound bar can be placed in tight areas that are both vertically and depth-challenged measuring about an inch in both directions. * Like most Samsung sound bar systems, the remote control buttons have a similar layout. The remote is extremely light yet does not feel cheap. Buttons are very responsive. * Sub and sound bar pair up without any work. Power up, and boom, done. * Bluetooth (BT) pairing was easy - hit the BT button on the remote, and my Samsung TV paired up instantly. The only wire connected to my sound bar is the power. Anything going thru the TV goes wirelessly to the sound bar (both my cable box and smart TV functions). The need for multiple inputs/wires is eliminated. If you need to wire the TV to the sound bar (eARC), the one mini-HDMI port on the sound bar can handle that. * The compact nature of the sound bar is just that - there are no major bells and whistles with this unit. It just works and creates good surround/DTS:X sound in smaller areas. * Directional speakers on the top ends of the bar help create spacial sound pretty well. * The 2 rubber feet on the bottom keep the sound bar securely in place. * Touch controls on top of the sound bar can be useful depending on placement of the sound bar itself. CONS: ----------- * The remote is rechargeable via USB-C cable (not included). Over time, batteries can eventually die; however, Samsung is betting on the system breaking before the remote battery dies. I would still like a normal battery (2032 or the like). * I'm not utilizing the mounting hardware, but in looking at it, it doesn't look very user friendly or self-explanatory. Instructions are provided; however, I think a simpler bracket system might have worked better. * Due to its simplistic nature, I understand why there is no display, but I find the blinking multi-colored dots and motions of multiple dot displays doesn't give you all the information you want other than something is moving up/down (like volume). You don't really know the treble/bass/volume settings - you just have to set it how you like it until the lights display that it can't go any higher or lower. The light sequences are not difficult to read, but you just don't know what your levels are at any given time. OTHER OBSERVATIONS: ----------- * As shown in the pics, the subwoofer has a larger driver on one side and a smaller driver on the other. It's rather small; however, it does pack a small punch for smaller rooms. CONCLUSION: ===================== For what it is, it's perfect for an office or bedroom setting and also apartments where too much sound could disrupt neighbors. If you have a home theater room, you likely will want something louder and bigger with more bass. Technically, this would also work well with a PC, however, you'll need a wide enough space to fit the long bar. It's a simple product though. Plug it in, pair it up, and it just works. Learn the light sequences during setup to find that sweet spot, and you should be good to go. With the slim nature, it will fit it more places than bigger sound bars yet still packs enough punch to enjoy movies in a small room or apartment. Good job, Samsung.

Best sound for gaming and sports I am glad I bought it

​I've had a B*** soundbar and sub in my living room (not my main listening room) for almost 4 years. I got it when ATMOS was just starting to gain ground. Most movies were still being released with DTS:X vs Dolby ATMOS, but ATMOS was making headway. If you don't know much about these surround formats, they both fool the mind into believing it's hearing 3D sound. If you just listen to a "normal" broadcast TV it really does not matter, as you will only find these surround formats from movies (Blu-Ray and Blu-Ray 4K quality, as DVD quality does not support ATMOS or DTS:X). Or from 4K UHD, DTS is supported from HDX format. Both ATMOS and DTS require your television to support eARC (enhanced Audio Return Channel). Well ATMOS has now convinced most studios that it is the superior format. And from doing some A:B listening ATMOS clearly works better especially with only a sub and soundbar. With a full 5.1 or 7.2.x speaker setup (like in my main listening room) the two are quite similar. But with a soundbar that has upward firing drivers ATMOS is the clear winner. This is why I decided to "upgrade" to this Samsung HW-S800D. I tried to do in store comparisons, and found it nearly impossible to decide. When I set up my new S800 I set it up with a HDMI switch so I could easily compare the two soundbar systems (both with a wireless sub (very simple to pair)). Both systems support WiFi and bluetooth for streaming, my B*** supports onscreen display the Samsung does not. The B*** supports Alexa voice control and AirPlay, this Samsung supports Alexa, Google and AirPlay; AirPlay is the only WiFi feature I've used in the last 4 years. Both also support Chromecast. The S800 is about 46" long and 1.5" tall and deep. It comes with all necessary mounting hardware if you want to mount it to the wall under your TV and a HDMI cable. The sub is about 9 1/2" in all directions. If you have a recent Samsung TV, it also supports Q-symphony which will utilize your TV's speakers with the soundbar. My (2019) Samsung TV did not support this, but if you have a 2020 or newer Samsung, this is a nice combination/feature. Samsung also sells matching wireless rear speakers (SWA9500S), so the system can become 7.1.4. When I first compared my new S800D to my B***, I compared the voices on a baseball broadcast. The two soundbars were similar, the mid range of the Samsung sounded a bit louder, and a bit cleaner. The highs and bass were nearly identical. Now for the real test, the new Top Gun. I was anxious to hear/see and compare the carrier launch scenes, as well as passing mach 10 (and things not going so well). Cut to the chase, there was no comparison. Samsung's surround sound blew the B*** away. Not only louder but much more immersive, sound seeming to come from above and behind me and a pretty good tight base. You ​could feel the plane tearing apart as Maverick foolishly passed mach 10.2. It was not as deep as my 12" and 10" subs in my main listening room, but given the size and cost (my 12" sub ​alone costs twice what the S800 system costs). The music throughtout the movie was most excellent. After the movie I quickly listened to Boston's first album via AirPlay. The highs were very airy and the mids were quite clear and rich. The bass was just acceptable, good but it didn't have the kick I really wanted to hear/feel. ​But, it had a good balance to it, all and all very well done. But I know what to listen for, and for its size the S800 more than pulls its own weight, color me impressed.

I needed a compact soundbar solution due to limited space on my stand and this package was really the only choice. That included sub packs quite a punch - more deeper than I expected, considering the size/price. The bar itself, when using the Surround or Adaptive modes, is surprisingly immersive, with decent height extension and wide soundstage for Atmos. I don’t recommend the Standard Preset, as it sounds very flat, weak, and too localized. Dialogue is almost always perfectly intelligible, but my one complaint would be that mid-range is lacking nuance/detail, but that is expected from such a compact unit. Overall, fits my needs better than expected.

I was really excited to receive the Samsung HW-S800D 3.2.2 Channel Q-Series Slim Soundbar, and when it arrived I tore into it and set it up right away and connected it to our TV in the bedroom. Now, I do have a superb audio 9.2.2 set up in my media room, and a 5.1 set up in my living room, so I am no stranger to great sounding audio, and I wasn't looking for just a 'step up' from TV speakers. And with that said, I have a 3.1.2 Samsung Dolby Atmos soundbar in my garage, and a 9.1.4 Samsung Dolby Atmos soundbar (with additional wireless rear speakers) in my son's playroom, so I was expecting the same wow factor that I've had from Samsung products in the past. Got it all set up out of the box, connected it to the same SmartThings app that all of my other Samsung products are connected to and set it to my familiar settings. Started to watch something with some good dialog and some good bass, something that I am familiar with the sound stage (Ready Player 1 - has an epic Atmos soundtrack to it), and it was all really lacking, very much all in front of me, and lacking any real depth. I had to keep playing around with the settings, I had to keep messing with the balance of the sound to finally get anything that gave any semblance of sounding like it was coming from behind me, or even beside me. And worst of all, was the bass clipping. Anytime the volume was above 50%, the bass would clip and cut out. So annoying. That was most noticeable when connecting a phone via bluetooth and playing music. As I mentioned this is set up in our bedroom, so we like to also listen to music when getting ready in the mornings. This soundbar actually sounded better playing music than it did any kind of TV input at all, but the clipped bass is really a deal breaker for continued use like that. I have the other Samsung soundbars in our house dialed in nicely, especially the one in my son's playroom, and even in an echoing space like my garage that 3.1.2 soundbar has great sound in the there, so I really am at a loss as to why this one just wouldn't project the sound as expected, but moreover, that bass clipping really ruined it for me. The design is incredible! The form and size is superb, so unobtrusive, the sub is nice and compact and sits next to our dresser. I do wish the rubberized woofers had some protection as they could potentially be damaged easily by pets. The connectivity is quick and strong to a phone, and even setting up Alexa is quick and easy too. However, if you are listening to music loud and turn off the soundbar to go to work, then when called, Alexa will sound at that high volume you previously had the soundbar at when you happen to ask a new question of her. That is pretty darned startling I'll tell you! Especially first thing in the morning! She literally shouts the answer back at you when you ask, if you hadn't turned the volume down. Separate volumes for voice assistant and music could be handy. We have it in vehicles for music and our navigation commands, two separate volumes, so it shouldn't be difficult to implement here. The quality of the materials and the ease of use with the app are great, but that's not what you pick up the soundbar for. It's all about the sound quality, and as I mentioned at the beginning, this soundbar wasn't acquired to simply be the 'next step up from TV speakers', with previous Samsung soundbar knowledge, this had a lot to live up to, and it let me down. And another consideration at this price point, is we need an interface that is more than 5 colored dots on the front. A nice LED screen behind the mesh would be perfect, my 3.1.2 Samsung in the garage has that, and it's so incredibly handy. I tells me which mode I'm in, what volume level it's at etc. With this soundbar you have to completely guess. I see lots of great reviews for this product, but it just left me cold compared to other Samsung offerings that I am familiar with, and my experience just wasn't a good one, with lackluster sound and clipped bass.

My original intention was to use the Samsung Ultra Slim HW-S800D soundbar with the TV in my husband’s man cave. Then I would take that soundbar and use it with my monitor that does not have sound. That plan fell apart because while his 7-year-old Samsung TV has an HDMI port, the only audio output is an optical cable. It does not have Bluetooth or HDMI ARC. The soundbar was almost too long for the small space, but I could’ve made it work. While the Ultra Slim soundbar is truly lightweight and slim, it is also quite long at 45 inches. I’m used to soundbars in the 32 - 33-inch range. 45 inches is about 5 inches longer than the cabinet that our 2-year-old 55-inch Samsung TV in the family room sits on. The overhang isn’t as obvious with the soundbar positioned behind the TV, but in that position the top buttons that are needed to connect to Wi-Fi and do other functions are not accessible. If I had taken the time to see how long this soundbar is, I honestly would not have selected it. It’s too long to use at the computer and too long to put in front of the TV. It would be fine on the wall, but that’s not something I want to do. My “old” family room soundbar is also a Samsung brand. I had quite a bit of trouble getting it to keep the Bluetooth connection and ended up using the optical cable. Paring it with the TV remote was a nightmare that took a week to accomplish. I was anticipating the same problems with the Samsung Ultra Slim soundbar. I was very surprised when it paired with the TV as soon as it showed up on the list of audio devices. Volume and mute also worked instantly using the TV remote control. I’m able to change between the 5 sound modes in the TV settings without using the soundbar remote. I found Standard sound to be tinny. Surround and Adaptive sound the best to me. After making some adjustments to the treble and bass, the sound is now fuller and deeper than the sound from my smaller, fatter soundbar. The Ultra Slim soundbar comes with a Q-symphony function to play sound simultaneously through the TV and the soundbar for a “three dimensional sound effect”. It doesn’t appear that my TV model has the ability to connect to that feature. While the soundbar is very light and easy to move around, the subwoofer is heavy. It weighs about 17 pounds. As with all the other components, the subwoofer connected to the soundbar with Bluetooth instantly. The Ultra Slim soundbar only has 2 ways to connect - Bluetooth or micro-HDMI to HDMI. It has a USB port for manual software updates downloaded from the Samsung website. However, the software is automatically updated when the soundbar is connected to the internet. Connecting to the internet was surprisingly easy to do. It required installing the Samsung SmartThing app on a phone. As soon as I installed the app and put the soundbar in Wi-Fi mode, the 2 connected. The app is also where the connection is made to Alexa or Bixby. I can now do most of the functions of the remote on my phone. The soundbar has a few other nice features. One is that it can be wall mounted. It comes with a complete wall mounting kit and instructions. It can also connect to a phone or other mobile device via Bluetooth. I tried it and it was very easy to do. I only wish it was shorter. But on the other hand, the size is probably perfect for TVs larger than mine as it would extend the whole length. I’m very impressed with this versatile soundbar. Not only is the sound great, but the connectivity is the easiest I’ve ever seen. Both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connected on the first try without any frustration. I think that’s a first. And my husband now has an incentive to buy a new TV!

The S800D ultra slim soundbar from Samsung is big step up from your standard TV speakers. Height of the soundbar is only 1.5 inches so it’s short enough to allow it to sit on a table, entertainment center, or dresser well below a TV to allow remote signals to easily pass by. It’s also light weight and easily wall mountable if you would rather mount it to a wall. There are 5 speakers in the soundbar for the left, right, center, upper left, and upper right channels and the bar runs at about 130 watts. The subwoofer has two speakers and runs at 200 watts and connects wirelessly to the soundbar. The soundbar only has one micro-HDMI port that supports eARC, but you can also connect wirelessly via wi-fi (through the Samsung SmartThings app) and Bluetooth to stream music. Both Dolby ATMOS and DTS Virtual:X are supported so it doesn’t matter what a movies sound is mastered in, it will be supported so long as you are using an eARC connection. If your TV doesn’t support ARC or eARC you will not be able to use this soundbar because it does not have an optical or coaxial input. The only other port is a USB port to allow you to update the firmware, which you can do since Samsung put out an update on 4/8/24. Initial setup was quick and easy, and I like the minimalistic look of the system. It’s quite small and doesn’t take up a lot of room. It does support HDMI-CEC, so I was able to control volume directly from my TV and Amazon Fire Cube remotes. I had the soundbar connected to an older 2012 Samsung plasma television and had no problems with the connection or control of the device. Once I had the surround sound mode and subwoofer volume set to my preference, I started watching some movies. For its size, the system packs a punch. It’s not going to give you a true surround sound experience since it doesn’t have the rear channels, but there is a compatible rear speaker that can be added to the setup to give you that experience. The bass isn’t overpowering and the small speakers in the soundbar don’t sound tinny, or tiny. They give you a very nice and sizable upgrade over the stock speakers on a TV. Even without the rear speakers, it does provide some immersion thanks to the upper right and upper left sound channels. The soundbar is also wide enough to give you some separation between the left and right channels. Whether it was movies or music the sound quality was nice and the listening experience was enjoyable. Overall, I’m quite happy with the system, but there is one thing I didn’t like about the subwoofer and that was the lack of a protective cover for each of the speakers. I have several cats, so the lack of any protection on the subwoofer speakers was a bummer. I would have liked to have seen a speaker grill over each speaker to protect them from claws and other mischievous activities. Thankfully I was able to position the subwoofer in such a way as to use furniture to keep the cats at bay.

Love sound is nice and crisp. All while being sleek and well hidden. Not big and bulky. We also like more speakers can be added via Bluetooth . We are looking for a second one.

This is the second time I’ve own this sound system. It’s even better with the two Wireless speakers that can be added. This time I didn’t get the Wireless speakers because I’m in an apartment instead of the house and a surround sound is outstanding. The base kicks in once in a while and basically vibrates my couch and the floor makes me feel like I’m actually in the story. I’m watching on TV. The price for this kind of sounds is excellent. There’s a lot of stuff on the market that’s more expensive than this and it doesn’t even come close to this system. Also, I got the Best Buy plus program and in the first 60 days when the sound system went on sale, I went into my app and they automatically credited me $100 difference instantly. When I move back to a house, I’ll add the two wireless back speakers.

It works flawlessly with my Samsung q60 55" I realized once you pair it with a Samsung tv you can unlock it's full potential(qSymphony and many other settings straight from the tv UI)! Not imperative, this S800d sound bar setup it will shake your room and impress in any situation but something to keep in mind. The design it's great and for my 55" tv it's a perfect match. Setting up this soundbar was as simple as plug and play! I was skeptical about it's size in the beginning but oh boy that blew me of the water after i had it setup and i watched my first movie! I recommend you download the app SmartThings since you'll be able to control this sound bar and all the other samsung products in your house! Once installed you'll be able to use TvSpeaker + soundbar simultaneously but for spacial effects and dtsX you have to stay with just the soundbar thru the HDMI ARC. The soundbar supports few voice assistants built-in(i go with amazonAlexa) and it works great! You will need to power both separate Subwoofer and Soundbar. The wireless connection was done automatically out the box. Didn't need much to get it going, was very easy to set up. Overall: -Very Happy with the quality, performance and design of the S800d

I love this!!! It is super slim and mounted perfectly underneath my 75” tv. It fills the room with movie theater quality sound. Added plus, Samsung TV and soundbar have some extra bonuses with sound quality since they are the same brand. Highly recommend!!!
