I was in a market for a new 2 in 1 for some time. This is a beautiful laptop which is small and very light weight. Has a fast CPU, fast SSD, and great build quality. The laptop has a touchscreen with an integrated pen. This is a refreshed model of the 2017 Samsung Notebook 9 Pro. It includes the 8th Generation processor. It has plenty of ports: 1 USB C port, 2 USB 3 ports, a full-sized HDMI port, a headphone jack and a micro SD card slot. I don't have to carry around a lot of dongles to hook up any extra devices. The screen is outstanding, it's bright, colorful, and the touch works great. The laptop startup time is fast due to the SSD and the MS Hello camera login, which works great. I like the feel of the keyboard and having back-lit keys is great. Battery life has been outstanding. Has lasted over 8 hours for me, but of course will vary depending on what you are doing. I also have a myCharge - RazorMax Portable Charger with USB C that I also purchased from Best Buy that charges the laptop, without the laptop being plugged into a wall outlet. The included pen works fine, and I like that it is hidden within a storage space in the front of the laptop which means it is always easy to find and hard to lose. Tablet mode is great for watching movies and web browsing when on the couch. Hinges are perfect, not too loose like the last laptop I had. I have even done some light gaming on it while traveling, played some WOW and it was ok. I have had no overheating issues and no loud fan noises. After having the laptop for a while, I upgraded the SSD drive to this: Samsung - 970 EVO 500GB Internal PCI Express 3.0 x4 (NVMe) that I also purchased from Best Buy. Installing it was easy, migrating the OS was a bit tricky. I found a video online that showed upgrading the SSD in the Samsung laptop that was helpful. The new SSD is blazing fast with no issues. See attached screenshot for speed comparison between the stock drive and the upgraded one. Note: the stock SSD will be fine for most people. I need a bigger/faster drive for work that I do. Two slight negatives: 1. I wish the speakers were better quality. The sound is a bit low. It hasn't really been a problem though, as I normally use a wireless Bluetooth headset or desk speakers anyways. 2. I wish the power button was on the top of the laptop instead of the side. A couple times I accidentally hit it while holding the laptop in tablet mode. I am used to it now, so not a problem any more. I would highly recommend the Samsung Notebook Pro 9 13.3 computer.

I like this laptop. It is solid, responsive, and has some nice features. I bought it because it looked like a less expensive, yet more powerful alternative to the Core i5 powered Surface Pro 6 I recently purchased and still have time to return. Having 2 USB type A ports, a full-size HDMI port, and a USB type C port that supports changing is much better than what the Surface offers. Although the S-Pen is smaller and lighter than the Surface Pen, it is pleasurable to write with on the Notebook's larger screen. It is also very nice to have a dedicated storage location for the pen. While Samsung is known for its excellent displays, this one is just OK. The Surface Pro's screen is much brighter and crisper, with an aspect ratio that is better suited for tablet and inking use. When at home, I usually use my laptop on my desk connected to a Dell D3100 docking station that drives 3 monitors, giving me a total of 4 screens including the laptop's. This computer handles this configuration just fine, and is nice and responsive when used this way. After getting all of my stuff copied onto the Samsung, and before factory resetting the Surface Pro to return it, I did some performance testing on both to see just how much faster the fan-cooled i7 would be compared to the Surface's passively-cooled i5. The first comparison I did was using the test software available at userbenchmark.com. The Surface Pro's results were Gaming: 16%, Desktop: 49%, and Workstation: 34%. The Samsung scored Gaming: 18%, Desktop: 66%, and Workstation 37%. Given that the amount of RAM and the video processor are the same on both machines, these numbers seem reasonable to me. However, the userbenchmark test is rather quick, and I wanted to see just how much the Surface Pro would throttle down its CPU due to heat under a longer-term continuous load such as when I do video conversions. This is where things got interesting. I began by installing Handbrake onto both machines, and then copying the same drone video from last summer onto both. After verifying that all relevant settings were the same between the 2 PCs, I rebooted them and waited about 10 minutes to ensure that all startup processes had been completed. I set Handbrake on both PCs to convert the 3.7 GB 4K video to 1080p, set the cursors over the "Start Encode" button, and tapped both track pads simultaneously. Almost immediately, the Samsung's fan turned on so I closely watched the Surface Pro's stats to see when the Frames Per Second indicator would start dropping off. It never did. In fact, after 16 minutes, the Pro's average FPS was 11.7, with 76% of the conversion complete, while the average FPS of the Samsung was 11.1, with only 72% completion! Ultimately, the Surface Pro finished the job in 21 minutes and 41 seconds with an average FPS of 11.6, while it took the Samsung 22:34 with an average 11.2 FPS. I later repeated this test while running another program called HWiNFO64 that monitors the CPU's performance, including each core's temperature. Quite surprisingly to me, the Samsung's CPU was being throttled due to high temperature most of the time, much more than the Surface Pro's was. Overall, the Samsung Notebook 9 Pro is a nice convertible laptop. Under moderate use, the Core i7 processor keeps relatively cool and is fast. Ask it to do some prolonged heavy lifting, however, and it just can't keep its cool. Looks like I'll be sticking with the Surface Pro.

I bought this laptop on clearance for $804 and at that price in particular it is an amazing deal. I've been researching laptops seemingly forever and kept going back and forth between the HP Spectre, Dell XPS 13 and the Lenovo C930. I almost pulled the trigger on the Lenovo ... And then rather randomly happened on the Samsung Notebook 9 Pro. Given that this laptop was about $500 less than the other options and had a key differentiator with screen brightness, I'm so glad I did. I'm not sure why this laptop is so hard to find information on in comparison to the others -- Samsung marketing needs to step their game up, I guess -- but after consuming everything I could find find about it, I determined this was a fantastic deal. My requirements were a 2 in 1 with at least an 8th gen i5 and 8gb ram. There are plenty of such options out there, but what really set this machine apart for me was the display. I like to use my computer while sitting outside, and the 500 nits you can get by toggling on outdoor mode was the key in making my final decision. It makes such a huge difference compared to my old laptop that maxes out at about 300 nits. As others have indicated, the inking experience is also amazing. It's at least on par with previous Microsoft surface devices that I've used. The port options on this machine also sold me. I won't detail them all since you can find them in the listing, but it's awesome that they included everything -- they didn't omit USB C (ahem Microsoft) nor the older standard. They included a mini card reader and HDMI for easy hookup. The ability to charge via USB C in addition to the normal charger was also a big plus for me. I haven't used this much yet, but it certainly charges more slowly on USB C than via the regular charger, so it's not quite as ideal. The included Samsung Settings software is surprisingly great. The battery saver mode extends battery life to seemingly ten hours plus without any real impact on most real world performance (I do some Excel number crunching but for the most part surfing the web, streaming video, etc.). There's also a max performance mode that you can get into when the situation calls for it. I only have two complaints: 1) Given my druthers, I would have preferred 16 gb ram and an i5, but basically nobody offers this, so, oh well. It's not as if performance isn't amazing as it is. 2) My only REAL complaint so far is that it gets a little warm on my lap. My previous laptop was a 14 inch Lenovo with a sixth gen i5 and I very, very rarely noticed it warm at all. Granted, this Samsung is a smaller machine with an i7, so it's not as if I didn't expect it to be warmer, but I wish it wasn't. For general use on battery, it's actually barely noticeable. However, when plugged in and streaming video and doing some Excel work, it did get pretty hot -- not to the point of burning, but certainly uncomfortable on the legs. Overall, this is a great laptop that deserves more attention!

    Perfect for Samsung Note Users

I have tried many different computers including the: Surface book Surface Pro Dell XPS Lenovo Yoga Samsung Tab Pro S All of the laptops/tablet that I have tried were fine to awesome, but here is are the reasons this has become my daily driver of a laptop. - I have realized that a tablet is nice sometimes but I really like having the hing and need it most of the time. - I can't stand a normal laptop (Dell XPS) anymore since I take hand notes quite frequently. - This one is thin enough that the keyboard on the back doesn't bother me too much when I am holding like a tablet. - It has USB C that I can use to charge which simplifies my life quite a bit ( why I didn't end up keeping the Surface Book) - Compared to the Surface Book 2 it is quite reasonably priced and has nice specs. -If you have a Note, you'll notice the add on pen features mimic that quite nicely. (I love the smart select and text extraction though it is missing the pin to screen that I find extremely helpful) - It is really nice to have a pen housed in the device (Though I also use the bamboo Ink when I am writing a lot) - It is powerful enough to run the programs I need to for engineering and even play a few games like league of legends - The autobooting is extremely quick and a nice Samsung add on. - Windows Hello face recognition on this is quite a bit faster than on other devices for some reason. Cons: - 1080 P screen (good enough for me but I do wish it was a little better) It gets the job done but isn't anything to write home about. - Battery life is nothing special, not the worst but certainly not the best. - Design is nothing special, it doesn't scream style like a Surface or MacBook but it doesn't look bad either. - Windows home (you can upgrade to Pro like I did for $99 but it is annoying if you want bitlocker) Overall I would recommend this computer all day long to Samsung Note users. I would recommend this to most everybody as well as a nice computer, but if you aren't tied to the Samsung eco system this computer isn't too special, it is still really nice but you might not enjoy the 'extra features' Samsung puts on here and might instead think of them as 'bloatware'. And while this "isn't anything special" it is what I wont be returning and will be my laptop for the next 3 to 5 years.

Spent months researching and looking for a 2n1. I had originally decided on a Lenovo, when I read a review about this computer. After reading several more and looking at one in the store, I was sold. I am amazed by the battery life on this. I haven't actually "timed" it but I've been able to use it throughout the day, for a couple days, without a charge. My work laptop won't last more than an hour without being plugged in. And speaking of the work laptop, this Samsung is amazingly fast. I didn't really notice how much until I went back to the work laptop. No issues with hinges so far. Laptop stays in whatever position you put it in. Laptop is very lightweight. Size is great. I usually like larger (17") laptops but this is perfect for the 2n1. I was hesitant that I wouldn't use the features of a 2n1 worth the extra money but I use this more than I've ever used a regular laptop. The screen is a little small for working on some projects and I usually plug into an external monitor. I didn't realize when I ordered this that it was so thin that there is no connection for an external monitor. However, I quickly remedied that by ordering an adapter that connects thru the hdmi. I've had some issues with occasional freezing but I'm blaming that on software issues (Microsoft). Only thing so far I don't like is the screen brightness auto adapts to the ambient light, regardless of where you have the brightness set. I guess this is a Samsung thing. It is very annoying, as I have an issue with light sensitivity. Sometimes, suddenly the screen will get dramatically brighter, virtually blinding me, or it will get so dark, I have trouble seeing things on the screen. I have yet to figure out a solution for this.

Solid Device, but with a few flaws

I am a big fan of Samsung Products, I feel like they make great devices and they are always innovating. This is overall a solid choice, but it falls kind of flat for me. The design itself is alright, nothing to get excited about. It feels light, but the materials used makes this kind of feel plasticky. I would be very nervous if this took a tumble, as I would expect significant damage just based on the overall feel/craftsmanship. The specs are solid, the onboard RAM is kind of a dissapointment, although every manufacturer is going this route. The screen on this device is quite nice. The 2-1 features work as expected, the pen is built in to store it which is nice. The positioning of the pen location is a bit odd and it is a little bit difficult to get the pen out of the laptop. The pen works great and Samsungs software for the pen is fantastic, reminds me a lot of the Note series phones, so that is nice to have. I wish the stylus felt more substancial, as it is a little bit small for my liking, I think it is fine for annotating, but I wouldn't want to do any serious drawing on this. It's just too small for me. Overall, I think it is a solid device. It is a decent performer, and I've never had any reliability issues with Samsung. A little refinement on the design and implementation and Samsung will have a winner.

Want a Chromebook, but need more power?

I'm not going to lie to you, the 8GB of RAM and only 256GB of storage are limiting for a full use computer these days. I bought this to replace a Chromebook for when I'm on the go. I have a desktop computer to handle my day-to-day computing, so the Notebook 9 Pro just needs to connect to the internet and maybe edit a few photos on the go. That's where I was pleasantly surprised. I've installed video editing software and can now perform my full workload on the go. Sure, only one video project at a time with that storage space, and things are certainly a little crippled with a shortage of RAM, but it is performing well beyond my expectations. I chose this machine because of a few very important features: - Power adapter and PD charging via USB-C port - USB-C, USB-A and HDMI ports - microSD card reader - Touchscreen Other features that helped the decision: - S-Pen - Folds all the way around to become a tablet - Slim form-factor so it fits in my day-bag with the camera. The small size/weight and the ability to PD charge, along with a few other tweaks, helped reduce my bag by nearly 15 pounds when I am walking the show floor of an event like CES. After a week of that torture, I was more pleased with this purchase than ever. I can easily recommend this laptop as a second machine for on the go, or for those that do not need tons of storage and use their machines for light-duty tasks.

This Samsung - Notebook 9 Pro 13.3" Touch-Screen Laptop - Intel Core i7 - 8GB Memory - 256GB Solid State Drive - Titan Silver is just plain awesome. The design is well thought out the track pad works smoothly and the backlight keyboard is nice and bright when you need it to Be. Really like the keyboard and touch screen display. The display is beautiful cris clear and sharp. Bought to edit photos and media files, and it works flawlessly for me. The laptop itself feels sturdy and well made it doesn’t feel like you would break it easily it’s also compact making it easy to travel with. Great Machine All Around. If you purchase one I don’t think you would regret it. I’d also like to say that Samsung Makes it easy to update bios and other extensions on the laptop simply by clicking on a pre-installed app that takes you to Samsung and walks you through the update process which when you do an update Samsung installs all your updates to keep your laptop running smooth.

After my trusty mac book pro keyboard decided to stop working I decided to purchase a new laptop. I checked out the new mac book and I was not too happy that apple decided to remove all the ports except for a USB C port. I really was not interested in carrying around dongles or hubs. I decided to make a return to a PC and I am very happy with my choice. Samsung has constructed and beautiful laptop which is very functional. The laptop has a full touchscreen with an integrated pen, full sized HDMI port, 2 USB ports, 1 USB C port, a headphone jack and a micro SD car slot. The laptop startup time is fast due to the ssd and latest Intel core i7 processor. I chose this over a comparable surface device because it is a much better value and not worth paying so much extra for a surface product

I was in a market for a new 2 in 1 for some time. The two must have in a new 2 in 1 was good screen and good battery life.As far as the screen brightness, the Notebook 9 Pro, by far is the best, with the outdoor and night mode to suit your needs. No matter how good the battery life is on competition, the ability to charge from the battery pack(s) can keep your machine running for days without charging the battery directly from the wall outlet. The hinges are firm and sturdy keep the touchscreen from bouncing , unlike one of the competitors (HP), which feels like the good wind gust will put the unit into 180% mode. Micro SD slot , full HDMI, two USB 3 , type C, built in pen, make this PC truly outstanding.

After an extensive search, we settled on this laptop to replace our 6 year old computer. Was drawn to the small form factor, light weight, and good battery life, but what really made it for us was the extras provided from samsung. The s-pen is FANTASTIC and the fact that it fits into the laptop to safe storage is amazing. No more losing your stylus. Also, the samsung notes software and other air command interface programs are really great for notetaking and handwriting. If you are not looking to use your laptop in this way, it is still a good all around laptop, but i suspect you can find similar performance and a lower price point. The real winner for us in this case was the S-pen and handwriting experience which is just so much better than competitors right now.

If you are looking for a nice, versatile, 2 in 1 laptop, check the Samsung Note 9 Pro laptop out! It is a really nice laptop with many quality features. It comes with a stylus that stores nicely in its home, a slot built into the bottom front case. No need to worry about losing as it stays firmly in place and is truly hidden. The screen is gorgeous and the keyboard is nice and crisp. When using as a tablet, it’s a little heavy but definitely workable. I love everything about this laptop with one exception, the sound. That isn’t a big deal to me as I use it with a Bluetooth speaker when sound is important, but this could be important to others.

I've had this laptop for a year now and I have to say its performance has been outstanding. I got this laptop for college because I wanted to have something to rely on when doing my college assignments. The s-pen is great I use it in class to take notes and all my professors are blown away by its capabilities. This laptop has been snappy and quick and I have noticed zero lag throughout my one year of usage. The battery is great it can last all day. And you can also have some fun with it and play some Fortnite. Whenever I play Fortnite the game runs smoothly and no overheating happens. I would recommend this laptop to everyone....

I loved everything about the laptop except how quickly it gets hot! I was simply watching youtube videos an hour after unboxing it and the bottom would get hot within 10 minutes and then the fan starts making loud noises when I am not even heavily using it. I exchanged the laptop assuming it was just a bad one but the exchanged one is having the exact same problem. I wanted to bring this laptop to class but it would be too loud and end up distracting others around me. Very disappointed. Other than that, the display is great, the keyboard is comfortable and it is lightweight. The camera is laggy and grainy though. Not nearly worth the price.

The colors and the graphics are superb, since it is a Samsung. It is a touch screen as well. I´ve tested it for a couple of days and hadn´t experienced any problems with anything. I bought this as an open box laptop expecting to purchase a Yoga when I walked in. Boy was I happy the yoga wasn't available. I needed something for school work and wanted something that could also be used as a tablet. I walked out of the store having paid $520 all inclusive and couldn't imagine a better machine for that price point in this market. I've only had it less than a week, so that opinion may change and if it does, I'll update this but I have nothing but glowing reviews for this right now.

This computer is highly portable, good keyboard and with USB, microSD, HDMI, and USB-C. It can retrofit many of older devices without additional adaptors. In my usage, I does not experience any overheating problem with the I7-8550 processor which was a concern with prior reviewer. I would highly recommend Samsung Notebook pro 9 13.3 computer.

I never thought I would jump to use a samsung laptop computer and I only thought they made tablets and cell phones. I am enjoying my computer do far but I do wish the speakers were better quality. Also, windows 10 looks great but it something to get used to if you are more familiar with older versions of microsoft. The S pen being included was my biggest plus as most other laptops required the user to purchase one for the same exact specifications of the laptop, which I did want to avoid. Overall, I am happy with my purchase. The computer is light and easy to use!

Have had this for almost 2 years now with light use. I never use it in 'tablet' configuration. I love the computer a lot, but the hinges suck. Mine just gave out and I have to spend approx. $75 for a new base, the same for hinge, and labor, totaling $250. Repair guy told me he sees this ALOT on these. Other brands are better hinged, but maybe not as good in performance. But then, what good is performance if the basic build quality sucks. Samsung should spend a little more time on their computers, like their phones.
