Great TV Mount! Love being able to adjust position

We purchased this to mount a 65" TV in a corner of our living room. It was easy to put together and mount to the wall - the hardest part was making sure the height & measurement between holes was correct, but the included template made it much easier! There is also flexibility to adjust once mounted. It is sturdy and the TV feels very secure. Even with this size TV tucked into a corner, it can swivel left and right a few inches to adjust the angle for sitting positions or adjust for any glare coming in through the windows. Overall this is a great mount and I'm happy we spent a little more for the full motion option. There is built in cable management along the arms of the mount, but we also plan to put the cord behind the wall due to the position of our nearest outlet.

Ended up hiring someone to hang this for us, but the professionals said this was one of the better brands. It’s hanging our 65” tv and seems plenty sturdy. Not sure how I love the ease of it being tilted every time you pull it forward because why would you need it tilted from side to side? Says full motion on the box but the tilting perplexes me. We won’t be adjusting it because it sits on over our fireplace but that would bother me if I had to move it often.

Give Your TV the Strong Arm

I usually preface my reviews with a quick bit of background for a product and a brief history or context for the product segment, but I’ll admit I have little to say about TV mounts; it’s a product category I never thought much of. A couple pieces of shapely metal and the appropriate screws, and you’re off and running, right? Well, turns out there’s a lot more to it if you want your TV to move on said mount. Sanus’ new line of “4D Shift” articulating TV mounts advertise a full range of adjustability for getting your TV to the perfect position, with an unusual twist - height adjustment without removing the TV from the mount. In previous home theater setups I had used adapter plates to move a TV up and down relative to the VESA holes on the TV and mount, but this solution would require a full dismount and reassembly to adjust the height…if it could adjust at all. The Sanus Elite 4D Shift TV mount has this built in, and though it didn’t elevate my expectations at first, I came away quite impressed. As with any wall mount, be very cautious with installation as the TV and arm need deep, strong, and secure anchor points into a stud or concrete. Failure to do so can result in the entire mount and TV falling off your wall, causing significant damage to your home or even severe injury to people and pets. If you aren’t comfortable installing a TV mount yourself, speak to a Geek Squad or Magnolia Home Theater associate for recommended services prior to purchase. - Setup and Installation As with most TV mounts, the Sanus Elite consists of two major components: the arm that attaches to your wall, and a mounting bracket that attaches to the TV. The TV is then hung on the arm and secured. The most important part of setup will be securely mounting the arm to the wall, as two 3” lag bolts are responsible for holding the weight of the entire assembly which can be upwards of 100 pounds between the arm and the TV. Sanus warns that these bolts must go either directly into the center of a stud, or into a solid concrete wall using the included mollies. A template cutout provided in the packaging makes aligning these holes easier. The most difficult part of installation was holding the mount against the wall while screwing in the lag bolts. The Sanus Elite wall mount and arm ships as one pre-assembled piece, which means holding a heavy assembly in position while at least the first bolt is screwed into the studs or concrete. This is unwieldy for one person to do alone - I would recommend having an assistant for this step. Once the wall mount is installed, the remaining steps are to install the TV bracket (which can adapt to virtually any VESA mounting pattern) and hang it on the end of the arm. Sanus includes a wide range of M4 through M8 screws, washers, spacers, and related small hardware, and should work with pretty much any TV up to 65 inches. Once the TV is hung, a hex ball screw locks the bracket to the arm. The arm includes cable management channels that make it easy to run and hide a couple wires behind the TV, but after running just the HDMI and power cables the channels were pretty much full. If you run multiple devices to your TV, you will need to plan a bit ahead. - Adjustability The Sanus Elite’s main arm extends horizontally out from the wall, up to 22 inches, and folds back on itself when laid flat against the wall. It does not articulate in additional directions, leaving the TV bracket and ball joint at the end of the arm for all further adjustments. The TV can swivel left to right as far as the arm will allow, tilt forward or backward a few degrees, and rotate slightly for leveling out the screen. I found it easy to swing the TV left or right to angle it within a space. The biggest feature advertised here is a vertical adjustment mechanism that allows the TV to move up or down relative to the arm. From a centrally-mounted position, the TV bracket has a 6-inch movement range that adjusts using a long dowel with a hex cap, which Sanus advertises as useful for adjusting to give clearance to changing soundbars or seasonal decor. Adjusting this using a power tool was much easier than turning by hand, with low enough resistance that a cordless screwdriver worked fine for the job rather than the cordless drill I used for installation. I found all adjustments easy to use to get my TV into an exact position, resting right against a dormered ceiling in a loft. Combined with a few degrees of forward tilt, I have an elevated, downward-facing TV that makes for a great viewing experience when sitting on a cozy beanbag. The vertical “Shift” proved itself to be a handy feature for positioning the TV perfectly without needing a beefier arm to accommodate more articulation and a wider range of arm movement, which would have increased price and complexity significantly. - Build Quality, Stability One area that the Sanus feels a little less than stellar is when you move and adjust the TV. Even with everything tightened up per the instructions, there’s still an occasional, unsettling pop or click from the TV end of the arm as it starts moving. This was most noticeable when trying to adjust tilt or leveling, but the overall effect is more noise than anything else. Machining quality and finish is excellent. All components and hardware feel sturdy, robust, and premium. I also appreciated the fitted plastic covers for the wall mount that cover the entire area around both ends of the mount to cover the lag bolts, as these cover quite a bit of space and hid the shame of my botched first attempts at drilling into the stud (hey, everyone makes mistakes)! Once the TV’s position is set, the Sanus Elite holds the TV stably. I noticed no sag, droop, or drift after setting the position and stepping back, and no thuds or vibrations through the house and into the walls seemed to move my 55”, 40 pound TV one bit. I feel like the stand could handle a significantly heavier TV without too much difficulty, but more weight will put more torque on the arm and possibly exacerbate the movement concerns. - Bottom Line Despite a few small concerns, the Sanus Elite 4D Shift TV mount is a solid solution that looks quite elegant in any space. The relatively simple two-bolt installation and quick vertical adjustment solution make this a great choice for a strong and stable TV arm. Though perhaps a little pricey compared to similar mounts, the larger adjustment range and strength of Sanus’ solution are a worthwhile investment to ensure your TV doesn’t fall if you expect to adjust its position regularly. Recommended!

We have to mount out TV in a corner area and it needs to fit and tilt certain angles for best viewing, depending on if you are in the kitchen or dining area. This Sanus meets our needs easily. Installation was easy and took about 20 minutes for the two of us and that included cleaning up the dust from the hole drilling. No one will see the mount with the way our TV is angled but it is very sturdy and will hold the TV. The specs say it will hold up to 70 lbs., no worries there. You can mount on brick, cement or wood. The shift height adjustment makes it easy to move up and down and the full motion provides tilting and smooth movements to find your perfect angle. I move it when cooking. It is also easy to move to limit the afternoon glare from the sun. You can also route your cables along the mount for a cleaner look. I have some temporary devices connect right now so I will try that later. Very nice mount and I highly recommend. A 10 year warranty also gives you confidence in the product.

This is not worth the money. This is basically a $40 v mount, you can get on amazon. Wgiket was relatively easy to install compared to some other mounts i've dealt with, what gives it one star is when it's all the way push to the wall and everything is square and level. It looks fine, but when you pull it out.One side flexes, and the tv is lopsided. who adjust it so that when it's fully extended, it's level, when you push it back in all the way towards the wall, it's totally crooked again. it's too flimsy to stay rigid in both positions. My tv is 12 pounds under the weight limit. ai would return itbut I just spent two hours getting it all set up

      Hi,

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience—we’re sorry to hear the mount didn’t meet expectations. What you're describing sounds like an alignment or tension issue, which can often be resolved with a few adjustments to the arm joints or tilt tension screws. The mount should stay level when extended or retracted, so if it's not, something may need fine-tuning.

If you're open to it, we'd be happy to help you get it dialed in—just shoot us a message at info@sanus.com or call 1-800-359-5520. If it still doesn’t work out, we’ll help make it right.

This mount does not allow the tv to fold against the wall and set evenly spaced (right to left) over the mounting bracket. It’s offset by approximately 4.5 inches with is problem if mounting over a fireplace and the tv needs to aesthetically it need to set evenly.

Finding a nice TV Mount can be a daunting task. Sanus brings options to the table for you to consider. Key point.... Make sure you measure 4 times check your measurements again and then begin drilling. So if you have a specific location and center line location you need to install the mount all on the back of your TV first and then determine the truce TV center will be. Also my wall situation was a bit tight.... I had pass through wall cords, AC surge protector, stud location and speakers all fighting to be worked around..... So with that in mind I had to do some modifications to the base support. Warning i probably violated the installation instructions but there was no way for me to get around it. So having said that. I had to remove the beautiful plastic base cover to wedge the mount in-between all of my constraints. It it was not for that I wouldn't have done this. Anyway after all of measuring and finding a stud I was able to mount the TV. Note. I have a dinosaur Plasma 32 inch TV that I still own and love in my bonus room. And it is HEAVY.... Has to be at least 60 lbs. I landed the TV on the mount and the mount didn't flinch or sag... Full adjustable motion is great.... Has a single cable manager feature .. So with all of that in mind this mount did the job with versatile viewing options....

Find your wall stud, use the template to drill two holes, and mount it with the included lag bolts, attach the bracket to the TV and before you know it, you have a TV mounted on your wall. This wall mount is really that simple to set up. Even if you get the mount a little crooked, there are plenty of ways to adjust it to make it perfectly even. I did the entire install on my own for my 65” TV, not recommended to do alone with a TV that big, but I did it and now it is so simple and easy for me to move it to get behind it or whatever. I have a huge wall unit as my entertainment center and for the most part, the TV has always stood on it while I have things behind as well. However, anytime I wanted to do something behind it I had to find a way to prop up the TV or take it all the way out of the way. I had intended to get a wall mount, but most of them were too short as far as extension from the wall, or not adjustable enough to meet the off center studs. Now, it is off center behind the entertainment center, but the TV is perfectly centered and nearly 2 feet of space behind it. Now, when I need to change a cable or do something with the devices behind it, I just slightly push it out of the way then center it right back with ease. On top of the normal tilt and swing function of many mounts, this one also has an option to adjust up or down by +/- 3 inches. It is by an adjustment screw, so it’s not something you can easily do on the fly, like pushing it out of the way. But, in my case of it being in the entertainment stand, I can adjust it so that it has the perfect even space on top and bottom after the fact of it having been installed. Some of the adjustments can be tightened down so that they don’t allow for easy movement later, however the main swinging part of it is really loose. So, if you have the TV within reach of touchy kids or animals, you might be moving your TV back in place more than you want. But, this makes it so much easier to get the perfect angle and access to parts of the TV were previously a balancing act. Overall, this wall mount was super easy to install with my 65” LED TV and allows for the right amount of adjustments to get the perfect position. I feel like it took me longer to gather my tools and clear out the space than it did to install this mount.

I used this mount to replace the one I had in my office because it was way too bulky. I trust the Sanus brand and liked that this was a slim full motion mount that could also be adjusted up and down. I used this to mount a 48" LG OLED that I watch in my office. I need one that turns towards my desk, but could also go flat against the wall when I watch from the couch. I also need it to tilt for a better viewing angle and less glare. This was the easiest install I've had for a TV mount. The bracket for the TV is adjustable for different VESA sizes and the wall mount was simple, just 2 holes that are hidden by plastic lids so it looks great on the wall. I used two of the same holes from the old mount which ended up being a bit too high, but voila, I was able to lower this enough to put it at the perfect height. Let's face it, mounting tv's at the right height is tough, this new features makes it so to make up for mounting miscalculations. Once I popped the TV and locked it into place, I ran the wires from the wall and ran into my only gripe. The cable management needs a little work; the covers pop off easily but are not easy to pop back in once the wires were run and it could not handle a thick HDMI cable. I ended up not using the built in cable management which was a bit of a disappointment. That said, I love the mount and might by another one for my living room.

THIS…Is Sanus Elite wall mount with 4D motion with ‘motion shift’. The sum of this elite wall mount is that Sanus’s engineers sat down and listed out every reason they hate wall mounting a tv and fixed it. Need to move the tv a few inches up or down post-installation? DONE! 3” up and 3” down. Hate having to screw the TV brackets to the mount? SOLVED. The TV brackets click into the wall mount, and with a pull tab can easily be removed. Hate having to rope your cables around the mount? GONE! With cable management built into the wall mount, I can sit here and say that, just like my prior Sanus outdoor mount… they really just thought of EVERYTHING. Plus, it’s only two lag bolts when you’re done to plug up vs 4! The wall mount is also extremely versatile, I am putting this in my kitchen and it is nice that it folds up to ~2” off of the wall but also can be extended up to 22” and turned in every which way when we have company over. The wall mount also looks sleek enough that I am not embarrassed for people to see it when it is extended away from the wall, in part due to the cable management but also the great build quality. When it says 4D motion, that means left-right, tilt forward and backward, and slide up and down, and I really like how it glides when you move it - firm but smooth. Obviously, this is a premium wall mount, but with a 10-year warranty and all the peace of mind AND ease of mind features it is easy to see why this product really makes sense. Not only was installation a breeze but using it made me realize that I will never own another brand of wall mount other than a Sanus and the only brand I trust to hold my expensive TV on the wall. The best part of the whole thing is when you buy this at Best Buy… you never have to worry about getting the wrong TV wall mount, they have this model and several other variations as well to fit all needs and setups. Best Buy has an excellent return policy and even better customer service, so you never have to worry about buying a product that you don’t like… so why not test it out!

We recently got a new soundbar that was taller than our old one and now was blocking the bottom 2 inches or so of the TV when viewing from the couch. This was the perfect solution to raise the TV up. It also freed up a lot of room as the stand it was on took up quite a bit of room. It feels and appears well made that’s sturdy and very adjustable for an ideal viewing angle. It can be extended out and turned left/right and up/down very easily, but the most unique thing about it is the ability to raise and lower it to different horizontal heights for raising over a sound bar or any other decorations or things you might like below it. So future proof for our particular issue with our new larger soundbar. Setup was straight forward. The instructions were easy to follow and also had good video instructions – just scan the QR code and follow along. It came with multiple sets of different size TV mounting screws to match the size of your specific TV VESA mounting holes even different depth/lengths – very well thought out. It also came with mounting lag bolts for a super secure mount to the wall into a stud. Fit perfectly and easily handles our 65” TV. The mount also has compartment on the bottom of the swing arms for cable management along the arm for when you pull the TV out from the wall or turn it. Overall very pleased and the TV looks much better mounted vs. being on a stand!

This mount worked great for my needs. Very solid and moves freely. FYI, the mount attachment to the wall is not centered on the TV. When flat against the wall, the mount is about 4” right of center. That actually lined up best for me anyway. The vertical adjustment is easy and very useful. It would be helpful to have more sizes for screw length. My TV takes a size 20-22. With the depth of the plate, however the size 20 is too short. I had to use a 30 and the additional spacers. Not a big deal, but it makes it a little further from the wall.
