This device is overall a great device. I'm able to store all of my movies, videos, pics and other important files. If I need them and I'm not near my computer, I'm still able to pull them up from my smart phone or tablet. I consider myself tech savvy but I often need to refer to the directions to make sure I'm using it properly. Over all it's a great product and I would recommend it to all!

Remarkable value-to-performance product. Seagate is renown for its drive technology but this product is highly recommended for home and office use where you need massive inexpensive backup storage. Works great with my PC's and Mac.

This product is a winner. I have stored nearly 3 GB in the 4 GB disk and everything is working very well. I can now have all my media files available via Apple TV and Roku boxes. Simple installation and unsurpassed performance.

I used external drives to backup my computer but now using a Seagate Central 4 TB cloud as a second copy which gives me access to my media through out the house on WiFi and via the internet for outside the home... GREAT

I have not had a chance to really dig in and explore all of the functionality of this 4 TB network attached hard drive, but so far set up and connecting with a couple Macs, a PC and Blackberry Z10 Smart Phone have been seamless.

I bought this to extend my overall storage independent from a computer. It is on the slow side with only 5400 RPM. I wish it would be 7200.

- Great centralized DLNA server. - Great centralized backup device. - The only cons in my opinion are that the USB port is not 3.0 and that there is no way to implement user level security on an auxiliary USB drive.

I've only had for about a little over a month now, and I am only using it for backups and storage even though you are supposed to be able to stream music and video from it too. I can't comment on those features as I am not using them presently. One set up thing which bit me, but was entirely my fault was if the Ethernet cable is not firmly seated (even though it may look it) you will get a red flashing light which is not clearly documented or mentioned around on the web that I found. It will prevent you from successfully connecting to it with any devices. The unit makes a little 'chink' noise every now and then which can either be annoying, or concerning depending on your demeanor. So far after a month I've had no trouble with this device and accessing my files there has been a breeze.

Backs up everything very well, but the accompanying software leaves something to be desired.

works well as long as you weren't hoping to play media directly from drive to tv.

i bought this to replace an ethernet shared storage device that was starting to go out. I got a great deal, but it was still a bit expensive. It has an app that works with ios or android, so thats cool. unfortunately, it doesn't stream, only downloads.

Now every member of the household has access to our downloaded content! My sister in law watches TV in the bath and my mother in law can watch her movies on the porch. Great buy!

For only $20 more than a standard 4TB drive, this thing rocks for a simple home network setup. I bought this for my parents and had them up and running with a personal server in an hour.

This is the second home network storage device I have purchased. The frist one was a My... it worked in that it never lost my data but it was fussy! I set this one up with no problems and can access it from my mobile devices with no steaming issues.

This Seagate hard drive was rated as very good by several web sites. I like the hard drive capacity that will let me save all my files, photos, & music, (whether Mac or PC), and then let me access them through the cloud from virtually anywhere.

The disk was easy to setup and configure. Primary usage was to backup a WHS that was failing. Now using it and its built-in FTP server capability for uploads from an IP camera. Not the quickest for heavy file transfers, but perfect application for video storage.

The drive works like it's suppose to. However, I was unable to delete any files that I didn't want on the drive. I tried through Seagates "Tapin" online site and using a USB cable. I also tried going through my network. None worked. I deleted my Tapin registration. I am thinking about sending the drive back. But I can't delete any of my files on the drive to clear it of any of my data. I've emailed Seagate. They seem confused about my situation. Im going to give them a call to see if they can understand the problem if I explain it to them over the phone.

I love this item. It has a huge amount of memory to keep all my videos on. It's very easy to use and I would suggest it to other people.

I purchase this product (Seagate Central 4Tb storage device) because of previous use of a smaller mode (After about 3yrs. of use (smaller 500G one), it finally died and I needed to purchase a recovery program from Seagate. I was very impressed with the way customer service dealt with me on this issue, which is what encouraged me to purchase a new and larger unit to store all of my files. It allows me to really expand. I think its great and when (not if…) but when I need to expand farther, I'll go with Seagate again.

I brought this product to function as a share drive for a small company that has about 11 computers conected to it whether in the office on the network or by remote access and I have not had a single issue. The setup was very easy and quick.
