We have a home with many animals; cats, dogs, birds, reptiles, fish, rodents and more so vacuuming is a common occurrence in our house. We liked a Eureka vacuum that was very inexpensive because it dealt with the animal issues very nicely. Biggest problem is that neither my wife nor I really care to spend time vacuuming so we are not very nice on vacuums. End result: we would get about 18-months with the Eureka before it would break to the point of disrepair. Well, Eureka changed their design and the new model did not perform as well as the old model. We decided that maybe it was time to spend more $'s and get one that would last. (save $'s and better on the environment). We tried a fiends Dyson that is comparable to this Shark. It was okay but required multiple passes when vacuuming bird seed and such around the bird cages. If you own birds you understand this issue and how often vacuuming needs to be done. For the price the Dyson wasn’t worth the hassles of the multiple passes needed. We decided to give this Shark a try since it is much less expensive than the Dyson, similar in concept, had good reviews in our research and if it didn't work on the bird seed issue we could use it elsewhere in the house. Wow, this vacuum is nice; it works great on the birdseed, is easy to use, light weight enough we both can just grab it and vacuum the stairs without hassle and seems to be of decent quality. My wife has preferred bagged vacuums due to the dust issue when emptying bagless vacuums. She liked how the Dyson bagless emptied and felt she could live with it. The shark empties just as nice as the Dyson and she has no problems with it. Our house contains pretty equal amounts of carpet, tile and wood. This vacuums work fantastic on all surfaces, including area rugs, without pushing multiple levers buttons and knobs when switching surfaces. Biggest issue is when vacuuming high pile carpet. The suction is so great it is hard to push. There is a valve on the handle you open to decrease the suction and it helps a lot, enough that it is not an issue for us but it is still a little harder to push than the Eureka was. The next issue is the limited space for the attachments. There’s no room for the power brush so you can only keep the crevice tool and small brush with the vacuum. So far that hasn’t been an issue since we’ve been able to do most everything without the power brush and those few times its been needed we just pull it out of the closet. In 12 months if this is still in good shape I’ll be getting a second one so I don’t have to keep fighting my wife for it!

This vacuum is incredible. We just got this vacuum a few days ago, so this review is only my initial impression. I have never made a purchase of any household appliance that has left me so impressed. Overall, I rated the vacuum a five, but there are some design changes that would make it better to look at. BUT it's a vacuum, so it didn't bother me at all. The material and colors of the vacuum make it look almost like a cheap kid's toy (and almost made me not buy it) but the reviews were so good, so I took a chance. I'm glad I did. Although it looks cheaply made, it seems to be rather solid. All of the pieces snap together perfectly. Also the bin is very easy to empty. The steering control is intuitive and smooth. If you have a number of throw rugs to vacuum, I recommend having a kid stand on the edge of the rug while you vacuum. Otherwise, the suction is so strong that the vacuum tries to suck the rug up off the floor. My previous vacuum was a Dyson and I really liked it. I vacuum everyday and thought it worked beautifully... Then we decided to get another cheaper vacuum for the upstairs. I researched every kind of vacuum and found this one to be popular. Even though I vacuum the house daily, the first time I ran the vacuum in the living room, I picked up a bin full of nastiness. We have two cats, so most of it was hair that I thought the Dyson was picking up. Every room I vacuumed showed the same result! I was shocked and appalled. We have decided to now keep this as our primary vacuum and use the Dyson upstairs. Some of the previous reviews commented that they had trouble picking up kitty litter, but the vacuum did just fine for us. Also, several comments were made about it being top heavy... It is, so you just have to be careful to always make sure it is standing up before letting go of the handle. Finally, The cord is somewhat oddly placed, but that is not a problem, just odd. The minor design flaws are easy to overlook when you see the amazing job it does on the floors. I would highly recommend this to everyone looking for a vacuum

I have been using a Dyson Animal for past 3-4 years. Was working good, except it did start to have a really bad smell I could not track down. We installed new frieze carpet and the Dyson did not fare too well. I have 4 dogs, with 5 often here (dogs people have dumped) and I have to sweep at least once a day, often I will do some areas twice a day as a couple of the dogs shed horribly no matter how much you brush them. I did quite a bit of research and pretty much everyone seemed to love the Shark Liftaway. Worried about the frieze carpet, I also found a couple of people saying it worked just fine on frieze. Bought it, brought it home and loved it. Excellent suction, loved the liftaway - but the auto height adjustment just did not work with the frieze. It was very hard to push the sweeper over the carpet and if the vacuum is running too low on the carpet, it will shorten the life of the carpet, plus frizz up the ends of it. I really liked the Shark and tried to see if there was a way I could physically raise the sweeper head up a bit without affecting the suction, but I really did not see a way. I hated to do it, but I ended up returning it for another sweeper. I am not a fan of canister cleaners plus I have to have bagless or I would go thru a bag a day with as much dog hair as I sweep up. I checked out the electrolux they had. It supposedly had different height adjustments on it, but I am apparently not too bright and couldn't see it. I am thinking it had to be turned on to adjust it and I couldn't find a handy plug. Not wanting to return another, I ended up with the Eureka "bagless for around $150. It has the easy to adjust height adjustments and works well with the frieze carpet. Seems to work well, but the Shark and Dyson seemed to have more suction. On a small entry carpet, the Shark and Dyson would suck it up, would have to hold it down with one foot and sweep off the carpet. With the Eureka I sweep it pretty much normally. BUT, it does seem to do the job. I seem to get all of the dog hair and a whole bunch of dirt.......wish the shark would have worked tho The one "negative" with the shark is you do have to have a place to keep the accessories.

Wow. Wow. This has great suction, useful functions, transitions from hardwood to carpet, crosses door thresholds easily, is self propelled, and is shockingly quiet. Got this one after I returned a consumer reports top rated Hoover, which just didn't work for me. Confession: I think the commercials that I've seen for the Shark are a little hokey, and I thought all the "things" the vacuum can do was kinda gimmicky. Try prying it from my hands now. It's easy to push on the hardwood floor, and is very quiet with the brushes off. The brushes "on" only raise the noise level slightly. It pulls itself when the brushes are on, making it easy to use on carpet. It is fairly light. It does not need to have the height adjusted for different surfaces. The way the wand works is really clever. You can pull out the long wand, which is long enough for getting the floor corners or under furniture, or the short one, which helps with upholstery. The way the vacuum detaches from the roller brush is brilliant, making it easy to carry out to the car in the driveway to vacuum it. It has a rolling base that converts it into a canister vac, sort of, making it easy for this purpose. It has suction adjustment on the wand, to turn it down for delicate items like drapes. This is the only area that could use improvement-an arrow or something showing that you are increasing or decreasing suction would be good, but I don't use this feature, so I don't mind. With 4 pets, I need full suction, all the time. The cord is long enough-yes, I wish is was automatic rewind, but I am so happy with the way this vacuum functions, I can wrap it manually. The canister is easy to empty. I am very happy I gave it a chance, because it's great for me. Will likely order some additional attachments from the website soon.

Bought this last week because I finally wanted to invest a little more money on something decent. than my expensive Hoover that I have had for two years and is already losing suction. Was thinking about Dyson, but the price tag made me a bit wary and then I looked at multiple review sites for Dyson and this vacuum. This one was comparable, but had way better reviews than Dyson so I thought I would go for it. I have two small children and allergies so the complete seal was another bonus. So after a week I am completely impressed. I vacuumed my home with my Hoover prior to buying this and it picked up so much I was shocked and a little grossed out. It is lighter, easier to maneuver- swivels like the Dyson without the ball, and actually made vacuuming fun. It was great for reaching spider webs in the corners, the dust angle attachment had me cleaning ceiling fans and anything else I could get my hands on. Then I converted it (love this feature) to a canister to go vacuum out the family van. I will no longer go to those expensive car wash places that get out some of the dirt. This thing was awesome including getting out that sand from trips to the beach and behind car seats. True you can only attach two of the attachments and must store the rest, but that is a small issue since the two attached are what you use the most anyway. The canister is easy to dump and not like the other vacuums where you have to reach in there to clean that stuff out. Just open and shake and it all comes out. This is also much quieter than any other vacuum that I have previously used, the headlight is great and actually points out stuff you normally don't see and it is great at reaching those edges. Overall, it promises that it will never lose suction and has a five year warranty. I am impressed and keeping it.

New item-Not a lot of use yet. So far I love the vacuum. I used my old unit, then re-cleaned after with the Shark Rotator. I was surprised how more much dirt/fiber/hair was picked up from the previously vacuumed carpet. The things I liked: 1) Lot of features (the 'lift away' canister is great). 2) Plenty of accessory tools. 3) The Brushroll on/off feature is my favorite. (My old vacuum ate spots of carpeting when using the hose atachment, and preassure was applied to the continuous roller). 4) The hose is attached lower on the unit which helps prevent tipping (when using the portable canister base). 5) Easy to steer around, and propels itself forward with no effort to push the unit. 6) Lightweight compared to my old Hoover Windtunnel (and quieter too). 7) Easy to dump out the dust cup each time I vacuum. 8) A multi angle dusting brush was a bonus that came with unit. (it is perfect for ceiling fans & flat/angled areas above your head). 9) Suction control on the wand handle to avoid making your curtains disappear. What I don't like: 1) Cord could be a few feet longer. (I can't reach the same areas as before without changing to a new elec outlet). 2) The unit is a little 'tippy' when using the wand while the motor is connected to the main base. Watch smaller, lighter floor rugs & take more care to clean. This vacuum has a lot of suction, even when you adjust for less, and may pick up the carpet occasionally. The brushroll will stop if something jams, which is good. Overall, this seems like a great vacuum so far. When I use it though, while pulling the vacuum backwards, I lower the handle to take weight off the roller. I just try to take some of the load off the motor. The motor works a little harder as it's still trying to pull forward. You can hear a difference. Note: this is just me, and there is nothing in the manual that says it is necessary to do so. Also bought the extended warranty. Don't normally, but it allows me to bring it back to my local Best Buy. (They cover a lot more than just 'materials & workmanship' like the manuf.) Otherwise, if anything happens I must ship it to the manufacturer, which would cost as much as the warranty.

I've spent as much as $1500.00 on vacuum cleaners and NOT one of them rivals The Shark Rotator Professional Lift-Away. This machine is easy to assemble, it took less than 3 minutes to put it together. Once I got it together, I plugged it in AND was surprised at how quiet this vacuum cleaner is and due to the fact it's light weight, it's easy to maneuver but don,'t let that fool you into thinking it's poorly made or isn't powerful. The This vacuum cleaner is bagless and and the canister that collects what the vacuum is picking up is clear. I was shocked to see what was coming up of my carpets. I have a no shoe policy after you enter the front door of my home and I do vacuum everyday, or so I thought I did. This vacuum cleaners brush REALLY GETS IN THE CARPET. And combined with the powerful suction I was mortified with what came up in the canister. It's and attachment reaches all those hard to get to areas with ease and the upholstery attachment made my couches look brand new. This machine converts from an upright to a canister easily! There's a dusting attachment that will only remove the dust and leave what you don't want vacuumed up. It's perfect for ceiling fans, I didn't need a step stool because the wand attachment with the actually reaches those hard to reach places without losing any suction. I'm 5'2" and its no problem reaching the top of the blades of the ceiling fans. Bottom line, there's not one negative thing I've found with this vacuum, and ask that it can do for you will take to long to list. You might not think even think you need a new vacuum cleaner, I didn't think I needed one. I thought wrong.

Great vac, but problem after 18 days

I bought this vacuum just over two weeks ago. I vacuumed with my old vac immediately before using the Shark for the first time. I could hardly believe how much the Shark picked up that my other vac had left behind. The dust cup is SO much easier to dump than the cup on my last vac. The accessories are all quite useful, though the wand is a bit heavier than I'd like. Unfortunately, it appears that the button that releases the wand no longer works (used about 4 times), and without being about to use the wand, quite a few of the Shark's functionalities are eliminated. To add insult to injury, Best Buy in Waterford, CT was unwilling to do an exchange since my purchase was 18 days ago. (Unbeknownst to me, they'd recently cut return time in half...) I bought it with the special 6-month financing, and I haven't even made my first payment yet! I was shocked that Best Buy was unwilling to exchange the vacuum within such a short time frame. Thus, I was forced to call Shark. Fortunately, they were much more accommodating. I will have to send the vacuum back to them, but they did say they would send a new replacement. Of course, this means that I'll be without a vacuum for a week or so. Unfortunately, I threw away the original box, so I'll have to dig up something the broken vac will fit into. The person at Shark was also surprised that Best Buy has such an unbelievably short return period. At any rate, I'm hoping that the now non-functioning wand button on my current Shark is the exception and not the rule, because otherwise I love this vacuum. I'll try to post an update after I receive the replacement vacuum.

    Unbelievable for pet hair

I was on the hunt for a new vaccum for pet hair. I felt like my older cheap one was on its last leg due to years of picking up pet hair from my shedding dogs. The vaccum came, my 14 year old son had it together in a few minutes. Of course I used it right away. I keep my house clean and vaccum at least once a week. We have 3 dogs, 2 shedding huskies included, and my 1 huskie sheds a crazy amount. Let me tell you I almost felt like I had been living in a dirty house because the amount of stuff (dog hair mostly) it pulled out of the carpeting was unbelievable. It was like I hadn't vaccumed in a year. I literally had to empty cup after each room. It's a decent size cup and very easy to empty. The suction is amazing, its very easy to push and maneuver the pivoting head with the useful headlights. I don't really use it as a lift away unless i'm doing the stairs. My son sucked a fake plant up with the curly straw filling in the bottom once and it was so easy to pull all of the hoses out, take the pieces off so I could get my fingers inside each section to pull out anything that got stuck. This vaccum is a definite must!!!! Especially for pet owners. The only drawback is that you need to store the white roller piece it rolls around on as a canister and the vaccum wand and head that goes with that. Most of the parts do stay on the vaccum some stay on the white roller. But that is just a little blip, not a big deal to store it in the closet for when I need it. Forget about the expensive Dysons. $600 for a vaccum is ridiculous when the SHARK works much better from what I've hear from a few ladies who have both the Shark and the Dyson......... go for it

Ok, I'll admit I'm a vacuum snob. I've owned Dyson's since Costco started selling them and have remained loyal to the "never loses suction" brand under the guise that it was THEE best vacuum you could own (even though there were features that I didn't LOVE about the vacuum). Well, our oldest and second Dyson finally quit; the repair guy told me it was going to cost $140 to repair the rotor, brush head, etc... Nah. Not for a second, upstairs only vacuum. So, here come Black Friday and I'm snooping around for an alternative bag less vacuum that won't break the bank like another Dyson would. Alas, the SHARK catches my attention so I order it, almost fully intending to return it before it even arrived - I'm thinking it will be a cheap, shiny piece of over-infomercialized junk. Well, I was wrong. Yes, it has A LOT of gadgets on it, and yes, it has some shiny trim on it - but all the parts and pieces work great and are easily labeled, easy to take apart and reassemble depending on what floor you're vacuuming!! The hard floor attachment that goes on the easily-removed wand is my favorite - LOVE the different options for carrying the motor by hand or on the little wheeled dolly robot thing that will follow you around as you use the wand. It sucks great, and that's a good thing! I happily recommend this vacuum for anyone with a larger home too, with hard floors, carpet and rugs - it handles them all and gives you lots of options on how to reach all the nooks and crannies with a host of on-board tools. The bag less unit is easy to dump and even gives you the option of opening the top AND bottom of the canister to reach those fluff balls that don't just slide into the trash. Happily surprised... we call it our "Great White Shark." My ONLY complaint about this vacuum is that it could use a rubber furniture guard around the floor head - it's made of hard plastic and I accidentally nicked an ottoman leg when I was moving too fast with it. But I can add that, I suppose.

This is my first upright bagless vacuum, so can't compare it with other similar brands. But it blows away the old Eureka canister I had. Got tired of buying filter bags and it was on it's last leg so decided it was time for a new vacuum. Decided on a bagless even though I knew there was mess involved with emptying the canister. Read reviews on lots of different brands, and Shark had the best reviews. Paid a little more than I wanted to, but it was on sale and was much lower than a Dyson. I know some ppl who have Dyson's and love it, but I'm not going to spend that kind of money for a vacuum. The one big gripe I have, is that I like the mobility of a canister that you can wheel around. While doing research, this model was originally a 3-in-1 (upright, lift away, and canister w/wheeled cart). It has sinced been changed to a 2-in-1 (no cart for lift away canister). At the time of my purchase, the BB website still had the old photo and description for the 3-in-1 model. Even the floor model on display at the store was the older version with a picture of the wheeled cart on the vacuum! I was dissapointed but bought it anyway. Got home and set it up. It's a little confusing at first, because it's in seperate pieces. But, it was easy to snap the sections together. Took just a minute to figure it out and it was ready to roll. Overall, great vacuum. Highly recommend it! Pros: No more bags! Yay! Great suction, variable suction adjustment, assortment of attachments (dusting brush, bare floor, crevice, upholstery, power roller), upright rolls easily, long power cord, good suction, easy to seperate lift away and empty canister. Cons: No retractable power cord, dusting brush is an odd oval shape and needs more bristles, the connection for the wand and upright is tight and difficult to seperate to change modes (looks like it'll losen up in time tho), messy to empty canister, have to change HEPA filter (which BB doesn't sell).

I had watched the Shark Rotater vs. Dyson many times and finally decided it was time to purchase the Shark. With my Best Buy reward points, I figured out that purchasing through Best Buy was the most economical. It is very easy to use right out of the box...virtually no set up required. I tested it first in my family room that has heavy carpet traffic and pets on furniture. WOW! I was shocked at the suction power as it sucked up all the pet fur that I thought I had been removing with my old Eureka upright! I used the Rotater power attachment for the furniture, upright for the carpeting and duster attachment for ceiling fan , blinds and shelves. Worked great on the fan and blinds but I prefer a Swiffer duster for shelves. I also used the upright on spin brush mode which picked up more than when brush was not on. On bare floor, the attachment for the floor worked better than just the upright and was super easy to use when the canister was placed on the base. I have only two complaints. One, is that when the canister is on the base it is top heavy and tips over somewhat depending on how much one pulls the hose to drag it closer. Second, the hose is too short for the attachments once it is released from the upright function. It seems like there is an extension missing.....I will be looking into that. My family has allergies and I have asthma so having the bagless sealed canister technology was a selling point and it really works! I don't have to wear a mask when I use it like I have had to before with a vacuum that used bags and a HEPA filter. It is pretty lightweight and has a great headlight on it that is very bright to help see in dark spaces. I highly recommend this vacuum....I've had it for 2 months.

I went to the local store and checked out this vacuum after researching several sites and several other brands of vacuums. I ended up ordering online, taking advantage of the sale price plus and additional 20% off savings, so it cost me $220. It was easy to put together. The first time I used it I vacuumed 3 rooms of carpet and it filled the canister. I emptied it and vacuumed the other 2 carpeted rooms and a linoleum floor in the kitchen. I emptied the canister again. I bought this because I have a Dyson, which works great on carpet, but is a bear to push on non-carpeted floors. After seeing how much dirt the Shark picked up, however, I wonder how well my Dyson actually worked?? The rest of my house has hardwood floors and it cleaned them nicely. The vacuum glides easily over any surface. I have a tile floor in my entry way and that cleaned up well also. I used most of the attachments so far (only purchased it 10 days ago). The canister allows me to carry it up the stairs and vacuum with little effort. I have 2 boxers in the house and I could vacuum the dog beds and their chair (they are not allowed on the other furniture!) and feel confident I was getting them clean. I also have parrots and it cleaned up their pellets and feathers with no problem. It is light weight, easy to move, easy to attach accessories, easy to empty canisters. I wish the cord was a bit longer. It doesn't feel as solid as my Dyson but for me that's okay because it handles better. It lays down to get under furniture part way and my Dyson roller ball wouldn't do that. Anyway, the Dyson is going to my daughter who only has carpet. Glad I bought it. So far so good. Great price. I'm happy with it.

I did a lot of research on buying a new vacuum. I have many different types of flooring in my house and multiple levels. I also have a 100lb Labrador and old carpets. I wanted something that my wife could haul around, but I would the primary user. I gotta say that I love this vacuum. The power is way more than the other cheaper vacuums that we have had. So much so that it actually brought the nap back on some worn out spots. You can see and feel the power of the suction. That is good and bad because cheaper carpets will actually start to lose material the more you use it.... but I don't care. I am getting the dirt and pet hair out! I also love the swiveling head, the multiple heads for different heads for different surfaces (use the bare floor head for bare floors... duh) and the lift away option for carry around and doing trim. The unit has held up well over the last 8 months and I still enjoy using it. My wife likes the vacuum, but has been reluctant to use it with the right accessories. As I continue to encourage her to use the right tools with it (use it as it was designed), she likes the unit more and more. The only downside (and not REALLY a huge downside) is that the head is a little smaller in width than most others, so you have an additional pass or two. But, it's so easy to maneuver, you really don't care. The wheeled stand for rolling the unit around while using the wand really IS hard to tip over. The wand hose is just a bit too short and does bump into your ankles sometimes (even though is extendable), but you get used to that too. All I can ask of this unit is to last and so far it has done that. Get a shark (Rotator with all the accessories)!

When I first bought this vacuum, I loved it. Compared to the old Sears workhorse it replaced, it's extremely lightweight, maneuverable, and seemed to pick up the gobs of pet hair in my house a little better on the hardwood, rugs, and carpet. The filters are easy to access and clean, the headlights are fairly bright, the on-board tools are useful, and the way the vacuum is set up, clogs are pretty easy to unclog. Now, 6 months later, the honeymoon is over. The rollerbrush has stopped spinning so the vacuum still works well on tile and hardwood, but it merely pushes the dog and cat hair into gross piles on the carpets and rugs. I called customer service since the Shark has a 5 year warantee, and they'll fix it for free, but I have to pay them $20 to ship it there and $20 for return shipping. Of course, I didn't save the box so I'd also have to go to the store to buy a box and packing supplies as well - probably at least another $20 right there. A quick internet search shows that this has been a known problem with these vacuums for several years. It's extremely disappointing that Shark continues to manufacture these models without fixing this issue.

I think the Shark Rotator is a good product. The suction quality is good, the multiple filters are easy to clean and access (do remember to clean them once in a while) and the vacuum isn't horribly noisy. If you run over something like a shoe string accidentally, the motor overload turns off the beater bar quickly. The dust canister is easy to see and get into. Overall it all works well. There are a few nits I can pick. I wish the cord exited the casing of the vacuum near the handle rather than down low. If you don't hold the cord in your hand (up by the handle) it is easy to trip on or run over. Thankfully the vacuum doesn't grab the cord and I often push the vacuum over the cord if it is in my path to no harm. I sometimes hit the lift away button accidentally and I personally never found myself wanting to use the wheeled caddy thing. It doesn't really give you canister vac type performance (the hose doesn't get longer and you can't use the power head it all in that config) so I never saw the point. Still, I think the Rotator holds its own against other mass market vacuum cleaners. Ours creaks and groans when folding into the standing position and when torquing on the handle to maneuver but I see no evidence that anything is about to break even though it makes some creaking noises.

Spur of the moment decision, I bought a highly rated Dyson for an awesome price, but hadn't started my research yet.I didn't open it yet and figured I better start my research. My furry friend, whom sheds alot and also had the case of the Fleas, pushed me into this very quick decision.I was looking for a new vacuum that would pick up all the dog hair and also be so easy to operate. This product fit the bill.I can, with just a push of a button, go from carpet to hardwood floors.I also am able to do the carpet on my stairs with very little effort.I have dealt with back and neck pain for years, so I needed something that wouldn't aggravate my issues.I love that it can become a canister vac and with the tools it comes with I am able to clean under furniture, beds and even ceilings!I am amazed at how it never loses suction or clogs with all that dog hair. The volume of dirt and hair amazes me!I am able to inspect the contents for fleas very easily or find items that I didn't mean to suck up.I usually empty the canister outside the home so the dust doesn't get back inside.I have one area that is a higher plush carpet and that area takes a little more strength to vacuum, but it is not a deal breaker. The low pile carpets are a breeze. The vacuum actually seems to be self propelled on the low pile areas, so make sure you hang on :) I am so pleased with this product and very thankful I returned the Dyson.Love that I can convert it to a canister and back with so much ease.I have kids with Dust Mite allergies. It was important to me that this product does not blow out air from the vacuum. This product only blows out fresh air, allergy friendly.

We've had this vacuum for 2 years and just encountered our first problem. This has been perfect for our family (6 kids and 2 dogs) and has cleaned up well in every circumstance, from kids crumbs everywhere to dog hair. The attachments make it nice too--helpful for getting into corners, under furniture and cleaning stairs. The base removes and re-attaches easily as well turning it from upright to canister. So, our problem. All was well until the power roller brush quit working. I took apart the base to clean it, make sure all was connected, and the belt was in tact. No issues, just not working. Called customer service and talked to someone from the US--big plus for me and very helpful. And within 10 minutes of walking through the problem (which they have to do, but felt like the IT guy at the office asking if I "restarted" yet), and collecting info they came through. New base in the mail, return label emailed. All I have to do is send the base off and wait for the new one. Very pleased with a company that backs their warranty and makes it easy to use at the same time. Would highly recommend!

This is my first Shark vacuum cleaner and my initial impression is positive. After viewing several favorable customer reviews on this vacuum cleaner, we decided to purchase it today. However, after checking out the demo at a local Best Buy, I was disappointed to see that the width of the vacuum head is approximately 1-1.25 inch smaller than most other machines within the same price range. We have a 2 story house and all I could think is it will take me longer than normal to vacuum the floors. After reviewing all of the Shark's features with a store attendant, I decided to take a chance. It was amazing how much debris this vacuum cleaner picked up from our carpets, which we vacuum weekly. I had to empty the canister 2 x's by the time I finished vacuuming. We have 3 stair cases, so the Lift Away feature is convenient and the swivel feature when maneuvering the cleaner in tight spaces was efficient. Our previous 2 vacuum cleaners were a Dyson & Hoover. The Dyson was $400 & lasted just over 1 year and we used the Hoover about 6 months longer than we should have. So far, so good with the Shark. I just hope that it will last longer than our previous 2 vacuum cleaners combined. In my opinion, the only cons with this Shark is the smaller width of the vacuum head and the angle of the small brush attachment is awkward, making it challenging to hit those hard to reach areas. It is also a little pricey, so time will tell if we get our money's worth but for now, we have a positive, impressive start with our first Shark.

I purchased this shark to replace a Hoover I have had for probably 8 years that was a good vacuum. I love the design of the vacuum and the way the handle can be unlocked to either become a hand held wand for use with the accessories or can also detach the entire handle to become an extension arm. The machine is fairly quit and is great at picking up 'dirt' in the carpet. I used my Hoover vacuum in my master closet and then decided to try the shark immediately afterwards to see if anything else was collected in the bin. The carpet looked new after the Hoover but the Shark collected 1/2 bin of more dirt. I was amazed and couldn't believe how much additional dirt it pulled from the floor. On hardwoods I am satisfied with its performance but it sometimes seems to just push about 1/5 of anything on the floor around and not really pick it up. This is of course true with the brush turned on, but I've found that it seems to clean best on bare floors by quickly vacuuming with brush off. Then turn brush on and quick passes around and then turn back off to get 100% of visible dirt. Sounds crazy but its still better than other vacuums I've tried. I think I'm going to be very happy for years with my Shark.
