Customers frequently mention the excellent sound quality and comfortable fit of the 1000X Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones. Positive feedback also highlights the long battery life and user-friendly touch controls. However, some customers find the headphones to be a bit expensive and heavy. A few users also noted that the volume could be higher and the fit may not be ideal for all head shapes.

Exceptional higher-end headphones
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Notes: Not an audiophile so I'll just say I agree with the positive reviews regarding sound quality and the ANC. Also, the only recent headphones I can compare these to are the Beats Solo 3 (which I exchanged for these). But I can comment on the comfortable fitting. Large ear cups, soft pads, and a firm-but-not-pinching tension of the head band allows me to wear these for long periods of time without needing to remove them. Lastly, the features are welcomed additions not found on other headphones: swipe/tap, forward/skip, ambient sound options, and--the clincher--instant "muting" by cupping the right ear phone. Winner.

No more cords!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love these headphones!! I looked for in-ear headphones that had great sound quality, decent noise isolation, and were built well enough that they would last a few years. To find those qualities, I was looking at in-ears that were a few hundred dollars. But they still had one annoying feature--the cord. So I decided to consider going with over-ear cans. I looked at all the reviews that I could find for these and the Bose QC35's. I finally made up my mind after going into a Best Buy store and actually listened to both. I have no regrets on buying these. The sound is amazing, the noise cancelling is fantastic, and the fact that I can listen to music or watch a video during my daily commute on the train, then just put my tablet into my backpack and continue listening to it on the walk to work (switch songs, adjust volume, play/pause all from the headphone controls), and, oh yeah, I can use my phone to make a call along the way without having to fumble switching back and forth between the two (yes, you CAN connect to 2 devices despite what some online reviews have said--just connect to 1 as media audio and the other as a phone headset). Having different noise cancelling modes is great when you want to hear a little of what's going on around you--or all of it if it's really important based on your surroundings or activity. When I place a call, it mutes my tablet audio, and then resumes when I hang up the call. Very cool!! Yes, I know the QC35's do that too, but to me these sound better and the multiple noise cancelling capability was a big difference (QC35 is either on or off). The battery lasts for a week at a time with multiple hours of use per day. It's just a great product.

Worth Every Penny
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Definitely the best headphones I have ever used. The noise cancelling is on par if not even better than that of the Bose competitors. These headphones also come with some advanced features not found in the competition as well.

Best headphones
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These are the best things I have purchased in sooo long! Oh my goodness- I did wait a while due to the price. I mean $400 is too much for just headphones- however I've been traveling lately and these are a must for any flight! Also I feel the charge on these really do last a lot longer than I ever expected. Definitely get the 2 year insurance if you are thinking about making this investment. The sound is great, comfort is there for hours of wear at a time and the noise canceling is easy to activate and works like a dream.

Amazing
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These are great! Really sleek design, and the touch controls on the outside are nice touches. Pairs easily with all my devices, and the cable is a good accessory to keep handy because Bluetooth does dampen the sound quality. I would say they are as nice if not nicer than the Boise and look better. The noise cancelling is really great but not so powerful that you can't hear yourself talk. The charge lasts a long time, too, so you don't have to worry about leaving on a short trip for a few days if you forget your charger.

Fantastic headphones
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased these primarily for travel to block jet noise and crying babies out, and they do just that. The sound is great too, good bass and loud enough. I love the features such as the touch control and the voice filter. I tried the Sony and Bose at the store and while the Bose have slightly better sound, the Sony have much nicer features. Definitely recommend them. I purchased the extended warranty since I read about people having breakage issues in the hinge between the ear piece and the head band.

Great sound, comfort and charge
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Like most, I was choosing between the Sony 1000X and Bose 35. Both have great sound but I found the 1000x to be more comfortable. These are my second Sony over ear wireless and they’re the best they have made to date

Best ANC Headphones
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the best headphones I've had. The performance of these headphones is amazing. Compared to the Bose QC35II, in my experience, Sony wins in terms of ANC. For the sound performance, it's a draw, depends on how you like it. They both produce unique sound and either is better for me. In terms of comfortable, Bose wins. I got these Sony for $228 compared to $349 Bose, Sony wins price wise. Many people don't know this model and have no idea what brand it is by its look, so if you want to look fancy, go for Bose. One more thing, the quick conversation and voice mode are very handy and work very well. The only thing I don't like about these headphones is that the phone call quality is not good other than that they are perfect.

Great performing noise cancelling headphones
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I found that these noise cancelling headphones perform very well while noise cancelling. Best Headphones yet!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I spent a long time researching high-end Bluetooth headphones, to use with my Fiio X5 3rd Gen player. The final battle was between Sony 1000X and Bose QuietComfort 35. After spending a considerable time, I went with Sony. I'm so glad I did!! Can't say enough good things about them. Noise cancellation is pure magic. Once it is on, you are practically cut off from the rest of the world. Even better, the noise cancellation is customizable according to the type of noise around. It also supports aptx, the new protocol for delivery HD sound over bluetooth. There is practically no difference between bluetooth and wired sound quality. It also has built in microphone, so one can pair with the phone and use as handsfree as well. The sound quality is superb.. very high end. No hiss. When the song ends, there is absolute silence. Bass is deep and satisfying, without affecting the overall sound quality. The balance between high and low tones is perfect. Battery life is excellent. I listened to music continuously on a 13 hr flight, and still battery level was medium. It has additional features as well.. like placing your hand over the right ear would mute it, so that the external voices could be heard. Also, the right earpiece supports gestures like skip next, skip previous, vol up and down. In conclusion, even the price tag is high, these headphones are worth every penny. A must buy for any true audiophile.

Worth the extra few bucks!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I looked at he MDR-1000X in the store for some time comparing to Bose and Beats. For me personally Beats was never in the running but Bose was very close. After many trips (I procrastinated like crazy) and trying both several times over a 6 week period I decided I liked the Sony's better than Bose. During this time I held off on reading reviews so I could better judge for myself. Once I made my decision I went back to read the reviews both on BestBuy's site and other places on the internet. From all I read many of my thoughts were the same as others for the same reason's. I waited until they went on sale and bought them and I am very happy! Though I don't have a direct real world comparison to BOSE I'm sure I made the right decision. I like the touch controls very much, the sound is superb on everything I have connected them to and the noise cancellation is great. Setup was a breeze... I just can't find anything that bothers me about them. As far as I am concerned Sony killed it with this product so don't hesitate spend the extra bucks and go for it!! Grab them while they are on sale if you can.

Outstanding!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this headset. It's comfortable to wear, easily adjustable. I got this to drown out noise around me while I studied for a graduate degree (kids, wife, TV, dog) Have used it on plane and also while mowing grass. Have streamed from laptop and phone with ease. Love the Bluetooth controls and the one-touch disabling the noise canceling to me to hear someone who maybe talking with me. Switches from streaming audio to phone calls when connected to your phone with ease.

Great Travel Headphones
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These headphones have been great for travelling; the noise cancellation is solid (Bose tends to be better I think) and the controls work flawlessly. So far I have had no issue with battery life.

Headphones, nay I say epic-phones
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been looking for a great pair of noise cancelling headphones for work. Well, I found them in the Sony MDR-1000x's. This is an amazing pair of headphones from comfort, to sound, to touch controls, to the ability to hear voices around your just by putting your hair by your right cuff. I suggest buying these head phones. My only complaint is that there are not drivers available to use with windows and the it isn't compatible with my PS4.

Excellent Bose contender.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I own a pair of the Bose Quiet Comfort and but couldn't resist the extras included with the MDR-1000x. First, the noise cancellation is excellent. I have been on various flights and couldn't hear a thing. Bass level is deep and the sound is rich. My head is fairly large and I wore these on a 6 hour flight with absolutely no discomfort. Definitely recommended!

Awesome Bluetooth Headphones
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love these headphones. They do not cancel out all noise unless maybe you boosted the volume up high. I have a pair of ear protection muffs I wear when I mow the grass and with the Sony headphones I hear less of the mower. Pros: The battery life is long. They are comfortable and fold down into a nice protective case. Several modes to include ambient sound, Noise Canceling, or Voice. Cons: A little high price for what you get. I have a set of gun range ear muffs that cancel out noise on the range where I can amplify voices and cancel out everything else. They only cost $20.

Very good, but not what I was looking for
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let's start with the positives. The noise canceling was incredible. After going through the set up process, I could not hear anything in my office. I use a mechanical keyboard, and not a single keystroke could be heard. All office chatter and noise was silenced. That was pretty incredible. The headphones are also VERY comfortable. I wore them for a full three hours and they are barely noticeable. Some people complained about the controls being difficult, but I had no problems with them. Quite the opposite, really. I really enjoyed the touch controls. All that said, where these Sony's failed to WOW me was in their audio quality. That takes me to the negatives. Let's start by saying, very clearly, that these cans do not suck. Far from it in fact. The vocals and piano of a Sara Bareilles track were clean and crisp enough. They just didn't have the presence or definition of the other set I was comparing them to, the Bowers and Wilkins P7. Some may call it preference, and that's okay by me. Ultimately I chose to go with the Bowers instead.

Good noise canceling “over the ear” headphones
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall the Sony is a good noise canceling headphone. I have both the Sony & BOSE and each has its strengths and challenges. For the money $50 less the BOSE is a better deal. I only purchased the Sony because it was on sale for the same price as the BOSE. Normally the Sony is $399 vs. $349 for the BOSE. I use the headphones exclusively when traveling and numerous on occasions it has saved me from hearing the “crying baby” and on one trip “2 crying cats” that were allowed to travel in the main cabin. Sony has this cool feature were you cup your hand over the right ear piece and it allows you to hear people speaking this comes in handy when the flight attendants are talking.

Awesome headphones
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These are great headphones. The noise canceling in them works really well when cutting the grass on a riding mover. Another neat thing about these is I can let ambient voices come through and the headphones are still semi-noise canceling. Basically, I can wear them at work and still hear people talking around me. I work in a lab so if someone asks a question I will hear them when the headphones are in ambient voice mode. If I don't want to be disturbed I can just put on noise canceling and I won't hear a peep.
