Absolutely Amazing !
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although these headphones come at a price they are worth every penny. They take the fight to the likes of the Bose QC-35 and the Sennheiser PXC-550. The Sony-MDR-1000x feature outstanding build quality, comfort, noise cancelling, battery life, and an ambient sound mode. I'm in college and these headphones come in handy for studying because I can wear them for long periods of time without them hurting my ears because they provide very effective noise canceling, comfort, and a long lasting battery life of 20 hours which allows me to do so. Sound quality is very high and background instruments come to life along with the crisp sound of the music. The common hiss from sound cancelling is not noticeable as it is with other noise canceling headphones and the best thing about it is that it can actually be turned on and off or simply bipassed with the ambient sound mode. I was hesitant about buying these at first because of the price but if I had the money I would buy them again in beige because they are also a very elegant pair of headphones in both colors.I highly recommend this product to anyone who is looking to invest in a high quaility pair of headphones. You won't regret it !

Hands down best option.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was torn between Sony MDR-1000x and Bose QC, but I listened to both, and to my surprise Sony is noticibly better sound quality (especially for bass). Also, the features are incredible, making the Sony much more versatile. If you are looking for the best quality and features, this is for you.

Really Cool Noise-cancelling Headset
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The noise cancelling is good. Though it's not as much noise-cancelling like BOSE35 but, it has more cool features like ambient sound - voice. Which gives only the ambient voice. It's worth the money.

Don't buy. Poor build quality.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: Great sound quality, phenomanl noise cancellation, comfortable fit (wait, there more), ambient sound mode, Cons: Poor build quality, no app for eq and other functions, no firmware updates. I was a huge fan of Sony headphones. I've owned the MDR-7506 and MDR-V6 for decades. Those headphones are professional grade and still work after. But the MDR1000X are NOT built with the same level a reliability. The plastic headband is very weak and cracked after not much use, rendering these expensive headphones useless. Let me clear, these headphones sound GREAT. But first I had a hairline fracture that I thought was not a big deal, then out of the blue it just snapped. Sony knows this is a manufacturing defect but refused to replace or repair because the warranty expired. Therefore Sony is cancelled. If they don't stand by their products, then why should we?

Bands too tight
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These headphones where great until the left ear band started showing stress and the right ear band finally snapped. I'm sure these still get great sound, but they are not unusable. I have had these headphones since Dec 28th, 2016 and they should have lasted much longer than that for the price. The bands for the cups are too ridged and not very flexible as I have learned apparently. I used to recommend these, but now I cannot!

Great Sound, lousy construction
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I moved to these after having used the BOSE headphones for a number of years. I was very pleased with the nose canceling and the sound was excellent. I use mine at a home office, no traveling, and yet the headband cracked (see image). When I called Sony they offered an exchange for a new headphone set, which was great customer service and much appreciated. I think it's fair to say that Sony understands they had a problem with this headphone (I copied this from a Sony support website): "We are aware of the reviews and/or reports of the users regarding the headband crack issue with this model but this is not a batch specified issue. While we continue to study this matter on an ongoing basis, Sony's current understanding is that physical damage to the MDR-1000X headphones may result from unfolding the headphones a certain way. With this new understanding that under certain conditions the headband may crack or break, changes have been promptly made in manufacturing to address the issue and give the headband more stability as well as flexibility as the user handles and unfolds the headphones." I'll have to wait and see if the replacement headphones are any better, but I think buyers should be wary of this potential problem. I've also had a set of PS4 Gold headphones from Sony that cracked in the headband, so I think there may be some ongoing quality issues with Sony headphones.

Great sound quality, poor design
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the Sony MDR-1000x and the Geek Squad 2 yr warranty back in March 2017. In June, I noticed one of the hinges was cracked. I contacted Sony to which they told me I was eligible to have them replaced - no big deal, must be a fluke, sent them in and received another set. Approximately 2 months later, I notice ANOTHER crack on the hinge on the second pair. A little more concerned, I contacted Sony support and told them of the issue, but then did some more research and noticed this is a very common problem with other owners of these headphones. I asked Sony for a full refund since this was becoming a pattern. I was then told I was not eligible for a refund, but yet only another exchange, and that someone from Customer Relations would contact me regarding my issue. The next day, the Customer Relations representative informed me the same thing the regular support rep had told me. More agitated, I asked if this THIRD set of headphones were to crack in 2 months (or in any time within the 1 yr manufacturer warranty) if I'd have to go through the same process (sending them back and getting ANOTHER pair), they said yes. VERY POOR service from Sony. STAY AWAY from these headphones! I bought the Bose QC35 and love them!

Q: QuestionHow well do these stay on your head? Like if I was riding a bike or running do they shift at all or are they firmly in place? Because how awful would it be if $400 headphones fell off your head and broke
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer They are heavy, I wouldn't wear them for any activity that would make you sweat in the head phone. Look for an in ear headset like Sennheiser, they are amazing!!
