The google TV UI is clean and snappy, good black levels with minor haloing, TV channel setup is amazing and great picture out of the box. The NOT so good is the horrible panel uniformity "DSE" and screen compared to my x900e. There's also an glitch in the "for you" section that spams recommendations so fast you can move to see the options. *below is a close up comparison of the x90j and x900e screens, you will definitely notice a difference in quality if you use as a monitor. **input lag and screen jitter were fixed via patch

My unit definitely has some quality issues which began only 2 months after purchase. Every few days my TV unit has to be manually reset with the factory remote because of serious display issues. Sony support told me there is no fix besides doing the manual hard reset when the issue occurs (which for me is a few times per week). Also, the top center of the screen had some pixels that burnt out after about 18 months of normal use.

Very Good Gaming TV

Works well with both. I did start having the issue with the tv restarting every time I would turn it on. If you get this just go to network and internet than home network and enable ipcontrol in the settings menu. Still waiting for the VRR update.

Not happy with the nrw sony tv for the $$$$

The store clerk assured me that everything had been gone through and that everything was there, I then asked him what the major difference was between my Samsung I had just purchased that went out over it Best Buy after owning it for only 4 months. He replied it'll be a much better picture than the Samsung as the Samsung was edgelit and my Sony xj 90 would beIs backlit LED's make it a much more brilliant and brighter picture. I said OK so it should be worth the extra $700 spent between the 2 different tvs? He said oh definitely. I purchased the system bought the extended warranty and then finally got it set up after about 3 or 4 days of the purchase, when I unboxed it I noticed that the power cord was missing and there were a few other items missing but that's OK because I wasn't going to be using it as a TV stand I was going to mount it on the wall. Once mounted on the wallI got it programmed and started messing with the feature sets they were OK but the picture wasn't any better than my edgelit television I was very disappointed in spending the extra $700 on ATV that had the same performance and it was 8" smaller than my prior TVOverall I would never recommend this television to anybody. I will be return this to the store today To look for a new television to replace the one that went out. If you be the judge of this the last few photos are my Samsung edge lit the 1st photos are of the new Sony XJ90 fully backlit I see no difference the only difference you see is the size difference 8" more on my older television

If you TV screen is flickering, Check the following to troubleshoot this issue:
Check if the issue occurs when on the TV's home screen.
Use the Picture/Sound symptoms feature of your TV to check the cause of the issue.
If the issue doesn't occur while on the home screen, and after performing the Picture/Sound symptoms, check if the screen flickers while on a different input.
If you're experiencing the issue while using an external device, verify the physical cable connection between the TV and the device, as well as the device settings.
If possible, try to use a different cable.

We are sorry to hear that there's a light leakage on the side of the TV when used in the dark. This is definitely not the viewing experience we'd like you to have. Wed love to help you troubleshoot your problem and turn this into a better experience.
The LCD screen is made with high-precision technology to achieve a high level of performance and picture quality. To achieve this level of performance, the backlight setting of the TV is set to maximize the screen brightness. However, you may notice uneven brightness on the TV when watching in a dark environment or when the screen is blank. This condition is normal and not a malfunction of the TV.
If you should find this affects your enjoyment, here are few adjustments that you can do to minimize this condition.
Reduce the Backlight Level in the Picture Settings menu.
Turn the Light Sensor setting to On in the Setup menu.
Change the Power Saving setting to Low or High in the Setup menu.
Set the Picture Mode to Standard in the Settings menu.

Picture quality is good - close to OLED. BUT....

First of all, for some reason, you are required to enable VRR on the HDMI port for certain (I assume) graphics cards. Don't know why, but if you don't, the picture is distorted. I suspect this is the TV being over aggressive about the incoming framerate it detects. I haven't finished testing various settings in nVidia to know for sure, only that VRR was required to even get it to render. Second, when you do this, it not only disables the vast majority of settings, but there are also some occasional audio cutouts over HDMI. This is a high end setup that's connected and it worked fine with a dirt cheap Toshiba (that TV will become my office monitor for Teams meetings); the only reason I bought this TV was for the higher Hz. The graphics card supports 120Hz as well, thus there's no logical reason that VRR must be enabled other than an overcompensation by the TV. I haven't tested all consoles, but the Switch at least seemed to work fine without changing settings. If there were audio cutouts I didn't detect them. I don't connect my TVs to wireless because they have no need to track me for any reason; thus I can't know if there's some firmware update that fixes PC. But I leave this to inform others who may be wanting to connect a gaming PC or a media center PC; if you get visual distortion (you'll know when you see it), the fix is to change the HDMI port to use VRR. It's in the settings, you'll find it. But nobody knows WHY this is required.

The X90J TV supports VRR, but is not enabled by default. You need to enable VRR on the HDMI port that you are using for your source device. Great TV for PS5

I previously bought one of the cheaper Samsung 4K TV's, and it was good up until I started consistently noticing all the shortfalls of an entry level 4K TV. I bought this one later on and the difference is noticeable. I mainly bought the TV for using with my PS5, and the ability to use 120hz has been amazing. I've also found myself using this as a more traditional TV as well because the Samsung one was too laggy and would consistently disconnect from the wifi, so I would only use it for the PS5, and this TV stays connected and I have not experienced any significant lag or connectivity issues. It is unfortunately a little on the low side in terms of brightness in direct sunlight, but if you're going to use it in dim to dark rooms, the brightness is more than enough. Speakers are good; never needed to go more than 60 volume. Overall a good TV that has met my needs.

Sony X90J - Best LED TV for PS5

It is my second Sony flat panel TV, the first now being from 10+ years ago from a PS3 bundle has done a great job and after owning a LG and VIZIO 4k and being disappointed with both I decided to pay a bit more and try the Sony x90J. I bought this TV to go with my PS5. So far I have no complaints when using it with my PS5. It just looks great. I also use it to watch sports and movies. The only thing I am iffy about is the NetFlix mode, some content looks great and others seem a bit off, maybe the content isn't HDR and that is why there is an issue. Pros: First, one of the most unknown benefits of owning a Sony TV is the remote. It can be used on the PS3, PS4, PS4 Pro and PS5 as a media remote controller. No need for an extra remote. Second, out of the box colors are nearly perfect. I made minor adjustments to fix the minor issues. Other brands I spent hours adjusting them to get their color accuracy close to what Sony provides out of the box. Third, features. This TV has the new Google TV instead of Android. It is similar but the new Google TV provides a bit of future proofing. Also there are two 2.1 HDMI ports for the the latest gaming consoles or for a higher people who want to use eARC for better audio. Also the motion handling of this TV is really good when compared to my other 4K TVs. Fourth, unlike the older model the X90J comes in at 50" for those of us who only are looking for a smaller TV for gaming or smaller rooms. Fifth, one year free of Bravia Core service; this includes quite a selection of Sony movies and watching them in 4K with HDR for free is a nice bonus. You also get five free movies that can be used on newer movies from Sony. Sixth, since I am using this in a small area I decided to forgo a sound bar and this TV speakers are actually not bad when compared to other TVs in my household that don't use a sound bar. The Cons: VRR: Not support yet but is to come in an update. I think once the PS5 gets VRR support this TV as well as the older model will get VRR and ALLM added in an update. FreeSync: Not supported at all - this is probably because PS5 also does not support FreeSync. Viewing Angle: This TV viewing angles are horrible compared to TVs with IPS panels. Because Sony went with a VA panel the TV gets much brighter than TVs with IPS panels but the viewing angles are much smaller, for me this isn't an issue but it is something to consider if viewing angles are a priority.
