Great TV with miminal issues

What more could you want from a gaming TV that offers so much more than a one trick poney. I have had this TV for a while now and the worst I have had to do is the occasional reboot or update. The updates seem to have stabilized the OS that is very snappy. Google Home offers a remote control for your smartphone. The brightness is so good we had to turn it down. Tuning the TVs was easy. Usually TV speakers are so disappointing but this is a Sony and great sound is in their DNA. You can hear the difference. Yeah, its not a sound bar with a subwoofer but what do you expect from TV speakers these days. In my opinion, its top tier for out of the box.

Best Smart TV Ever for Us

We also stayed away from Samsung, because apparently that brand has a habit of burning out screens. The Sony TV is fast, we opted for a faster refresh rate which made all the difference. Picture is incredible, and speed is what is really good. Our TV actually responds to the remote with sub-second response time. That's impressive. Hopefully this TV will last. A few years, we purchased a 5-year Geek Squad protection plan because we've learned a harsh lesson about smart TVs. I'm hopeful that Sanyo will show me that I wasted my money on extended warranty.

The colors are amazing. All of the options with the Smart Google TV is unbelievable. We have had it now for less than a month and I don't think we have discovered half of what it can do. Sporting events are spectacular and I would recommend this TV to my Brother or anyone looking for a new TV.

The Small take back is that it has a reflection on it. The reflection is not enough to reduce it from an "Excellent" level, unless I could do 4.5. However all in all, I love it, and I would purchase a larger one if I could afford it.

A Really Good TV

I can say the Picture quality is amazing. The 120 refresh rate in the vivid colors are truly amazing The brightness though could be a little better. The sound that comes from the speakers are ok but not terrible I would recommend a good sound bar or speaker system to really get the best out of the audio quality.

Being able to compare different brands at Best Buy right next to each other was such an eye opener for me! Clarity, contrast and sharpness between another brand and the Sony was so easy to see and appreciate given there was no price difference between the two. The tech who helped me was patient with my questions, knowledgeable and professional with his presentation, all of that making my choice a no brainer for the. 55” Sony.

The picture is great! My only real complaint is that the smart functions like on most electronics can sometimes be a little slow or cause an app to crash. We pretty much expected that though, and it still works so much better than another brand new smart tv we once had. We plan to get a new firestick soon anyway so I'm confident that will help a lot.

Lag and OS Issues Not Worth the Price

Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.2 months ago I cancelled Netflix as a cost saving measure and deleted it and all other unused apps from my TV to save memory to alleviate lag issues as suggested by Sony support. Last week I decided to renew Netflix, only to find out that it was no longer supported on this TV and could not even be downloaded. We have been suffering lag issues on all apps, have done all the recommended patches and updates, completed pulling the plug and re plugging it in and completed a system reset (wiping all apps and setup and starting from scratch, and even had my internet provider out to check the wi-fi in my house. None of this fixed the issues. I’ve been on Reddit and Sony sites and found there apparently are a slew of Sony Bravia customers with 2 year old+ TV’s having the same issues for which Sony has no answer. I paid extra for Sony due to excellent picture quality and Sony’s reputation for providing a high quality product…never again, just too many issues and lack of support.

We're sorry to hear about the TV randomly freezes. I can definitely see how this would be frustrating for you. We also appreciate the steps you've gone through to isolate the issue. There are few things that you can check moreover. The Netflix app can be installed from Google Play Store on this model. Make sure that you are logged into the Google Play store in order to download the app. This issue may be resolved by restarting the TV and clearing the data and cache on the Google Play services app.
