Good quality pictures, even when watching older movies in non-HD. Chose this model for the picture quality, higher refresh rate, and features (works with Apple AirPlay and Alexa). Easy to setup, good sound...overall very pleased with this purchase. Only downside is there is no Spectrum TV app currently available on this Sony to download, so still stuck with my Spectrum TV cable box in order to watch cable channels and local TV.

I am no videophile, was ready for an upgrade and thought it would be fun to compare to my outgoing (non-UHD) 4K screen - what a huge difference! Great looking picture, completely straightforward to setup, plays well with my other components. One tip, I had to change the HDMI input setting to "Enhanced" in the TV setup menu - that done it's been flawless, looking forward to using it w/ next-gen gaming systems and UHD streaming.

This has been an excellent TV which has exceeded my expectations. I have had this TV for over three months and am still incredible satisfied. There have been no issues at all in my time with it. The picture quality is excellent. The colors are natural and vivid but not over saturated or over contrasted. The blacks are particularly impressive for a non-oled panel. Dolby atmos and Dolby vision (hdr) both work without issue. I use the TV for gaming and the response is incredible. I notice no input lag or ghosting. e-arc works perfectly as well and connected system remotes can send commands to the TV or vice versa. The largest draw back of the TV is the brightness. It is acceptable but if you have larger windows with lots of natural light, you may want a brighter display if you do a lot of daytime viewing. That said, it is still acceptable even at mid day. The system runs well and the built in smart tv features are excellent. We have an Apple TV 4K which we often use, but I have no real preference from one to the other at this point. The system is quick, it has built in airplay and chrome cast which work excellently as well. The TV is build well and looks high end. I can’t speak to the tv speakers as I have a sound bar system.

Problem is Sony is behind on some of the updates for promised features such as VRR and ALLM but they are saying it’s coming in future updates. A great 4k TV for dated and recent viewing/gaming

Reviewer Background: This review is coming from someone who hasn't gone through a lot of HDTVs, and upgraded to this (2020 Sony 55" X900H) from a 2013 Samsung 55" LCD, which I considered to be "good enough" well after 4k became a thing. I've had the TV for a couple of weeks as of this review. I use the TV for: Netflix/Streaming Shows & Movies Blu-ray/DVD movies & shows Desktop PC (Gaming, browsing, youtube, etc) Current Console Gaming (PlayStation 4/Switch, etc) Retro Gaming (NES, Super NES, PlayStation 1 & 2, etc) With all of that out of the way, I'll try to keep this succinct: -I absolutely love the improvement in Color and Contrast quality over my previous tv. -Dated shows on Netflix such as Star Trek: The Next Generation did not become "unwatchable" despite the very slight increase in visibility in any flaws in the film (which I quickly adjusted to and have yet to be pulled out of the viewing experience by it). -Film flaws aside, dated and more recent viewing content all seem to benefit from the TV's contrast and color, regardless of what resolution it was "meant" to be viewed in. -Retro games played through upscaling hardware now look as vibrant as my rose-tinted childhood memories remembered them, though without the old standard definition blur. Modern games enjoy a similar improvement across the board. Have not noticed any "ghosting" or similar. -Though I have no physical 4k content/I haven't upgraded my Netflix sub for 4k, I did watch a few 4k videos on Youtube on my old tv before setting up the X900H for comparison and they look fantastic. -My current PC hardware can only support 4k at 30fps, but it's convinced me to plan for upgrading my graphics card to bump that up to 60fps in the not-so-distant future. I admit that getting my Windows PC to recognize that it was hooked up to a TV that could support 4k AND 60fps was a bit of a pain, but I would attribute that to my own ignorance/Windows itself rather than the TV. -Given the X900H features "Full Array" backlighting, I'm aware that this can cause issues in dark scenes with something small and bright somewhere on the screen with a "halo" effect. I tend to view in a dark room with little to no support lighting, and have only noticed this on the loading screen of a game that is black except for a vibrantly colored loading icon in one corner. This effect is only apparent when the room is nearly or completely dark, and the effect fades very evenly into the completely dark parts of the screen. I've yet to notice this at all during typical viewing/gaming content. This was one of my larger concerns going in blind on a 4k tv, and I'm happy to say those concerns were laid to rest. -As I type this on a mostly white browser window, there is some very slight "dirty screen effect" going on here that I otherwise do not notice during typical viewing/gaming content, and even then it's not jarring, at least not on the unit I purchased. If you have a more discerning eye when it comes to TVs, I can't really provide a useful frame of reference; all I can say is that so far the TV has knocked everything from dated viewing/gaming content up to recent 1080p-based content out of the park, and as far as I can tell from those 4k youtube videos and the limited 4k PC gaming experience I've had, it only seems to improve when viewing material that completely supports 4k. I went in with several nagging worries/possible misconceptions about 4k TVs, and came out with a TV that only seems to improve on my previous TV with no real drawbacks/areas where my previous TV seemed superior.

    Issues with Screen After 1.5yrs

Buy a different brand and/or definitely get an extended 2-5 year warranty. I never imagined I would have a problem with a Sony TV but here we are. I don't recall exactly how long but around 1.5 years into use I started to notice dark spots all around the corners and edges of the screen. It took a while for me to really notice because it's mostly apparent during white/lite scenes in movies and TV so I didn't immediately catch on. At first I thought it was just dust or smudges somehow, even though I never touch the screen. It kind of looks like smudges from dirty hands (see pictures with white image displayed on TV). I tried to clean with a microfiber cloth but that didn't help. Tried screen cleaning wet wipes and that still didn't clean the "smudges" off. The TV itself still works well 3 years in, but it's really annoying seeing those dark spots all over the TV when it's a lighter scene playing. I looked it up and found instances of other people having similar problems with other Sony TVs.

Overall, great display, easy setup and use. Switched from Samsung TVs to Sony due to google platform. Much more intuitive platform and quicker response rate with tasks. The picture is far better than Samsung’s which I have been loyal to for the last 4 TVs I bought. I watch a lot of sports and this doesn’t have nearly as much motion blur or artifact effect as the Samsung displays which also were 4K. The biggest issue is it drops WiFi randomly and the features become unusable. However, Samsung did the same. I found a firmware update solved the issue and it’s only happened once since a hard reset. Highly recommend if you upgrade the firmware.

What a difference over the 60 refresh rate. Images are crystal clear. 4k is definitely the way to go!

I recently purchased this TV to go along with my Xbox series X. I went with this one because it had HDMI 2.1 which will allow me to take full advantage Of my new Xbox. I had it narrowed down between this TV and an OLED TV. I ended up going with this one for a couple of reasons. First and foremost this TV gets brighter and the room I have mine in can sometimes be a well lit room when the windows are open. The second reason is this TV was a few hundred dollars cheaper than the OLED. I ended up having a Sony 800 that I bought in 2017 and was very impressed with the Image quality. Having that in mind I decided to check a chance on this bad boy and I must say that I am very glad that I did. I find myself going onto YouTube to stream 4K video just to look with at the quality of the display. The Xbox series X looks amazing and I can’t wait for them to get the ray tracing. I ended up playing on my 2017 Sony and noticed that this one did have a nicer and sharper picture. All in all I’m very happy with the purchase

WOW! What a TV. The picture quality for the money beats Samsung and LG. I upgraded from an LG UH8500. (about 5 years old) because the back lights went out, and when GS came to replace the lights, a few things we wrong immediately after, no fault of the great agents that came out. Thank goodness I had GSP! They allowed me to get a comparable tv to what I had, or store credit... I went with this TV after doing research. This is probably the best tv I have EVER owned. Colors are beautiful. The RED is a little over powering, but once I get enough running hours on it I'll get it calibrated. For now, I'm used to it, and love the clarity of the tv. This TV is like Lightning when doing almost anything. With the exception of channel surfing. I know I'm old school and don't have cable, but I have an antenna, it's a bit slower than my LG was, but tolerable

An amazing TV at a relatively good price for use with HDMI 2.1 devices, and streaming all services. Absolutely GORGEOUS picture, ease of use, and installation process. I just wish the quality control for this set was higher. I bought one of them in December, and then had a dead LED (completely white) towards the middle of the screen. Tried every remedy possible, to no avail. If it hadn’t been for the extended return policy that Best Buy provided with the holidays, I would’ve been stuck with a thousand dollar piece of equipment that had a major problem that was impossible to ignore, and probably would’ve cost too much to fix.

This is my first Sony Bravia and it replaced an old Samsung 4K LED. I was always happy with the Samsung but wanted to see if there was anything to the Sony hype. Out of the box, following initial setup, I have to say I was a little disappointed due to what would turn out to be less than optimal default settings for my setup. The picture was pretty amazing but not very bright. Netflix worked great but other apps such as YouTube, YouTube TV, Hulu, etc. had a terrible tendency to get out of sync with the audio pumping through my older but solid AV system via ARC (DD+). This was really frustrating until I figured out that Sony sets AV sync to "auto" by default. One would assume if your receiver wasn't on the list of supported devices "auto" would mean "off". That wasn't happening though. The audio was coming up to 230ms before the picture on the TV. I adjusted the delay on the receiver but it would randomly get out of sync again. It seems the TV's "auto" was winging it and making a mess of things. When I changed the TV's A/V sync to "off", suddenly all was well and didn't require delay compensation from the receiver. The brightness issue was due to the light sensor being turned on. This setup is in my basement den where I generally keep the light low but with colored LED backlights behind the TV. The sensor was keeping the picture pretty dim even at max brightness. I turned the sensor off and manually set the brightness. Turning these two default automatic settings off fixed all of the frustration and allowed me to start fine tuning. And wow. Just wow. I am blown away with just how good the picture and audio (through my receiver) really are. I'm not a big fan of the recommendations that take up the top 1/3 of the home screen - I wouldn't mind it so much if you could adjust it to only recommend content on services to which you already subscribe. I don't like forced advertising but in this day and age it is what it is. I initially allowed the Samba setup, thinking it was for SMB media servers (typically referred to as Samba servers) on my LAN so the media player could find and catalogue local content. That's not the case. It turns out this "Samba" is just a third party data collector that you're giving permission to track your activity so they can sell personalized ads. I turned it back off once I found out what it was. You'll be hard pressed to find a modern smart TV or any other piece of equipment that's not trying to track you and/or sell you other services so I'm not docking any stars for these "features". My rating is strictly about the performance of the TV and perform it does. DLNA content on the LAN is discoverable via the native Media Player app without any additional settings on the TV. For audio, I'm using Dolby Digital+ for my 6.1 surround system. I tested the DTS passthrough and in all honesty, with my setup both sounded equally great. I may do more testing later but I'm quite happy with the DD+. As for the display, once I got those quirky defaults sorted out this TV lives up to the hype. It is absolutely beautiful. I played some YouTube HDR demo videos to really put it through its paces and I was not disappointed. Spectacular for this price range. If you're in the market for a new TV in this price range, the X900H is a solid choice!

After buying the Sony 800H because it was in my price range, I quickly found out that I don’t like Edge Lighting. The picture is too dark for me during darker scenes so I couldn’t see what was going on. I returned it and couldn’t find a replacement until I saw the 900H. Beautiful clear picture, color is amazing, with back lighting, and way out of my price range. Went without a TV for about 3 weeks looking for a sale, then finally bit the bullet and so happy I did! I’ve had Sharp and Samsung in the past. Sony 900H is by far the Best TV I’ve ever had.

I've bought Vizio TVs for the past few years but after seeing how bad the Smartcast app UI was, I decided to go a different route, especially with this TV offering the 120hz @ 4K (firmware update just got pushed to my tv 10/20) and the other features I was hoping to have for future proofing for the new consoles. The Sony UI for their apps and settings is buttery smooth and is lightning fast, I was surprised of how fast the menus are from switching from a Vizio. This picture is gorgeous and I am definitely glad I switched to a Sony.
