Many appreciate its impressive features and good battery life, along with its ability to perform well in low-light conditions. dont purchase
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the camera cause of the name brand. But when i found out it wouldn't record/playback video without having to download software. I was done then. I took it straight back to the store. For that much money it should come complete and ready for use. Not everyone has Internet on their computers.

Posted .Hi paul, there is no need to download the PlayMemories Home software to play the videos back on your computer. You can play them back on any movie player that supports AVCHD file format. Or you can shoot in mp4 for wider compatibility. Thanks_Mitch

Not for me
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Charged it overnight. Checked on it in the morning and the battery was still low. Also for a point and shoot, the shutter sound was really loud! If I wanted a loud shutter, I'll sticThe menu and grip is oddly placed. Maybe not for a woman's grip. Maybe it was my nails.

Posted .Hi MH1105, We are sorry to hear this. Make sure you're using the supplied AC adapter of the camera. Remove the battery pack and re-insert the same battery pack securely, or disconnect and reconnect the USB cable if still unresolved.
Your feedback will be forwarded to the proper department.

Do not buy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed to buy a new camera when my Canon SX 50 HS wore out. I purchased the Sony camera based on a number of glowing reviews. I was first disappointed with its performance. The zoom mechanism is not sensitive at all. Then, when rapid fire shooting, the camera stops after ten shots and begins a lengthy image-saving process. But worst of all, this camera’s images are nowhere near the sharpness and quality that I got with the old Canon camera. When enlarged, the images are very grainy, even at the lowest ISO. The details look like smeared paint. I am very disappointed with my purchase and feel like I threw away the money that I used to buy the Sony camera. I wonder if I just got a bad individual camera, because of the good reviews that I read. Oh well, you live and learn.

BROKEN AFTER LESS THAN 3 YEARS
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The DSC-HX400V is a bridge unit very versatile, pleasant to use, the zoom is very nice for animal or nature photos at great distance, the LCD repositionable is a plus. Unfortunately after less than 3 years of use the stabilizer breaks down, making it impossible to take sharp pictures. Thousands of users on the Internet have the same problem, see for example http://sony-e-62-10.tk/ or look for E:62:10 on the Internet. If I had known I would never have bought this model. For me it is a hidden defect or a problem of obsolescence programmed which Sony refuses to follow up despite the many complaints.

lens failure after 3 years of easy use
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this camera in August of 2015. I have taken lots of pics and vids and everything worked as expected. pic quality not the best, but decent considering the sensor size. light is your friend. setting the pixels to 5M also helps the sensor. Within the past 6 weeks an error code (e:62:10) started to display. I tired the work arounds found on the internet and that worked for about 1 month. Now I am finding that I will have to spend ~200$ to replace the lens, which is ~1/2 the price of the camera after 3 years and 1 month of use. I really like this camera and I imagine that when I look for a replacement the best option will still be this model. Hopefully this issue has been resolved. I want to stress that this camera has never been handled poorly. When I cannot clear the code you can see the lack of image stabilization in the view finder and in the pic. If I had written this review before this error occurred it would have been 5 stars. I am really disappointed that this happened after 3 years. Maybe Sony will help me out.

A $60 caMERA IS BETTER THAN THIS Junk
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This camera is not even good enough for amateurs. You can take about 10 pictures before the battery dies. All of the controls are sluggish. Low light pictures are beyond useless. But the worst thing is the camera can not focus. I tried to take a picture of my son walking down isle at graduation (very slowly), missed the shot cause camera wouldn't focus. Next tried to take action pictures of my daughter a gymnastic champion ship. The high speed sports mode is a joke. Camera cant focus have never even gotten 1 picture of my daughter. Buy a Cannon or Nikon.
