Customer Ratings & Reviews

I’ve been using the PlayStation Portal for a while now, and overall it’s a solid device if you understand what it’s designed for. The screen is excellent — the 8-inch display is bright, sharp, and makes PS5 games look great. The built-in DualSense controls feel just like a real PS5 controller, including adaptive triggers and haptic feedback, which really helps immersion. Games like action, RPGs, and sports titles play smoothly when the connection is strong. That said, this device depends heavily on your internet connection. A stable Wi-Fi signal (or a strong mobile hotspot) is crucial. When the connection is good, gameplay feels responsive with minimal lag. When it’s not, you’ll notice input delay or drops. This isn’t a flaw of the hardware so much as the nature of cloud/remote play. Battery life is decent — typically around 4–5 hours depending on usage — and the device is lightweight and comfortable for longer sessions. I especially like being able to play my PS5 without tying up the TV or while relaxing in another room. Pros: • Beautiful, large screen • Real DualSense controls built in • Easy setup with PS5 • Great for at-home or travel play Cons: • Requires strong, stable internet • No native/offline gaming • Limited use outside Remote Play Final Thoughts: The PlayStation Portal isn’t meant to replace a console or a handheld gaming PC — it’s a remote-play companion, and it does that job well. If you already own a PS5 and want flexibility to play anywhere with good Wi-Fi, it’s worth it. Just don’t expect standalone gaming.

I’ve been using the PlayStation Portal for a few days now and honestly, I like it more than I expected. It feels really comfortable in the hands, pretty much like holding a DualSense, so it didn’t take any time to get used to it. The screen looks great — nice and bright, and games run smoothly as long as your Wi-Fi is good. That’s probably the biggest downside though… if your internet isn’t stable, you’ll definitely notice some lag. It’s not a standalone console, so keep that in mind. You’re basically streaming from your PS5, but for playing around the house or even in bed, it’s super convenient. Battery life is decent, nothing amazing but good enough for a few hours of gaming. Overall, I’d say it’s worth it if you already have a PS5 and a solid internet connection. Not perfect, but still a really cool device.

Well for starters yes it's is so worth it for the price of 250 dollars you are getting the best. But I mean the best handheld console now you can play and connect it to you're PS5 but sonny recently rolled out an update were if you don't have a PS5 you can now stream games and huge titles like Cyberpunk spider man games GTA online Roblox fortnight watch dogs and so many other huge titles the graphics are insane and absolutely remarkable I have not yet to come with any problems I have not lag the buttons feel great it comes with adaptive trigger a touch screen and full 3d ambient sound it's got a super good quality built in mic and it can even be pair with the PlayStation earbuds and head set, super light weight and durable it's got a great emersive RGB lights on the side that match you're games background, and for the price of 200 dollars I officially declare this the best handheld console better than the steam deck or the Xbox

I find this device to be a very solid performer overall, offering a high-quality display that looks sharp and vibrant in everyday use. The design is comfortable and thoughtfully made, making it easy to hold and use for extended periods without discomfort. It stands out for its ease of use, with intuitive controls and a user-friendly layout that requires little to no learning curve. The build quality feels well-made and reliable, while still maintaining a lightweight feel that makes it convenient to carry and handle. Overall, it delivers a great balance of performance, comfort, and portability, making it a dependable choice for regular use.

The PS Portal is an awesome handheld device for PlayStation gamers. The screen is really big and looks amazing, making games feel more immersive and enjoyable. It fits perfectly in your hands, and every button is easy to reach, which makes gaming comfortable even for long sessions. The device is also very simple to use. The graphics look next level, and the audio is loud and clear, giving a great gaming experience overall. The only downside is that when the internet connection is bad, the PS Portal can become slow and laggy, and sometimes it may even kick you out in the middle of a game. But when the connection is good, the gameplay runs smoothly and feels incredible.

When Sony first announced the PlayStation Portal, I was skeptical. As someone looking for a cheap way to game without investing in a full-fledged console, I wasn’t sure if a streaming-based handheld was the right fit. But after spending some time with it, I have to admit—it’s an incredibly functional device that surprised me in more ways than one. The PlayStation Portal feels like a product that was put together quickly to meet the rising demand for game streaming. At the time of its release, cloud gaming was gaining traction, and Sony needed an answer to the growing competition. Rather than building a fully-fledged handheld, they focused on what they do best: PlayStation games, streamed seamlessly to a dedicated device. And it works. On a solid internet connection, the experience is near flawless. There’s very little input lag, and playing through the Portal genuinely feels like using a PS5 in handheld form. The recent update allowing access to cloud gaming has made it even better, expanding the library and removing the previous limitation of requiring a local PS5. The hardware itself is simple but effective. The screen isn’t anything over-the-top—no OLED or high refresh rate—but it gets the job done. Colors are vibrant enough, and the display size makes gaming feel immersive without being bulky. Battery life is decent, lasting long enough for several play sessions before needing a charge. It’s clear that Sony’s focus here was on function rather than pushing the limits of handheld technology, and in many ways, that was the right call for this particular device. But the real potential of the PlayStation Portal lies in what could come next. Sony has a golden opportunity to turn this into something truly special with a hardware-focused sequel. Imagine a PlayStation handheld that isn’t just about streaming but also capable of running games natively. Sony has done it before—look at the PSP and the Vita. A dedicated handheld with proper internals, perhaps borrowing tech from the PS4 or even a custom chipset optimized for handheld gaming, could redefine the market. If they take the lessons learned from the Portal and apply them to a more powerful, standalone device, they could create the greatest handheld console ever. A PlayStation Portal 2, built for more than just streaming, could bring new wealth to Sony. With a strong first-party lineup, potential third-party support, and the backing of an already massive PlayStation ecosystem, it could be a serious contender in the handheld space. The current Portal is proof that there is demand for a PlayStation handheld—it’s functional, accessible, and consumer-friendly. Now, Sony just needs to take the next step and give us the hardware-focused handheld that PlayStation fans truly deserve.

Absolutely love the PlayStation Portal! Setup was quick and intuitive, and the remote play connection works surprisingly well—even on Wi-Fi. The 8-inch LCD screen is crisp and vibrant, and the controls feel just like a DualSense controller. Perfect for when the main TV is in use or for gaming around the house. Battery life is decent, and there's no noticeable input lag when the network is stable. Highly recommend for any PS5 owner who wants flexibility and portability!

I’ve been really enjoying the PlayStation Portal. It’s much more convenient than I expected, especially when I want to play PS5 without sitting in front of the TV. The screen looks great, the controls feel very similar to a regular DualSense controller, and it’s comfortable to hold even for longer gaming sessions. I also like that I can just pick it up and continue my game somewhere else in the house. The experience really depends on having a good Wi-Fi connection, but when the connection is stable, it works very well and feels surprisingly smooth. For me, this is not something that replaces the PS5, but it makes the PS5 much more flexible. I’ve ended up using it more often than I expected, especially when the TV is being used or when I just want to play somewhere more comfortable. Overall, I’m very happy with it. If you already have a PS5 and like the idea of playing around the house without being tied to the TV, the Portal is a really nice addition.

I purchased the PlayStation Portal Remote Player from Best Buy and my experience with it has been very positive. The 8-inch screen is bright and clear, and games run smoothly at 1080p/60fps when connected to a strong WiFi network. I really like that it keeps the full DualSense features, including haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, because it feels just like playing directly on my PS5. Setup was quick and straightforward. Once connected, I was able to play in different rooms without needing the TV, which has been very convenient. Battery life has also been solid for extended gaming sessions. The only downside is that performance depends heavily on internet stability. With a weaker connection, you may notice some lag. Overall, it has been a great addition to my gaming setup and delivers exactly what it promises.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely worth it! The PlayStation Portal Remote Player is an amazing addition for any PS5 owner. The screen is bright, sharp, and smooth, and the controls feel exactly like a DualSense, which makes the experience feel truly premium. Setup was quick and easy, and once connected, the gameplay is incredibly responsive with minimal input lag. It’s perfect for playing while someone else uses the TV, relaxing in another room, or just wanting a more personal gaming experience. Battery life is solid, the Midnight Black color looks sleek, and the build quality feels durable and well-designed. Using reward certificates made this an even better deal, turning a great product into an unbeatable value. If you already own a PS5 and enjoy flexibility in how and where you play, this is a must-have device. Highly recommended!

The PlayStation Portal is Sony's innovative response to the expanding market for portable gaming, targeted at providing a high-fidelity gaming experience on the go, directly competing with devices like the Nintendo Switch. Here's a detailed review of the PlayStation Portal, breaking down its design, performance, game library, and overall user experience. ### Design and Build Quality The PlayStation Portal features a sleek and ergonomic design that seems to prioritize comfort and durability. Its chassis is sturdy, likely made from a high-grade plastic with a matte finish that not only feels good in the hands but also minimizes fingerprints and smudges. The device boasts a large, vibrant screen that delivers crisp visuals, enhancing the immersive experience of high-resolution games. Button placement is thoughtful, with controls that feel responsive and are intuitively laid out, similar to a traditional PlayStation controller. ### Performance and Battery Life Under the hood, the PlayStation Portal is powered by a custom chipset capable of delivering near-console-level performance. This allows it to run more graphically intensive games that are usually reserved for home consoles. Load times are impressively short, and the gameplay is smooth, with consistent frame rates even in more demanding titles. Battery life, however, is a mixed bag. While Sony claims up to 8 hours of playtime, real-world usage tends to be closer to 5-6 hours when playing more intensive games, which is decent but may not suffice for long commutes or travel without access to a charger. ### Game Library and Compatibility One of the strongest selling points of the PlayStation Portal is its game library. It not only supports a vast array of new titles specifically designed for the device but also offers compatibility with a significant number of PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 games. This backward compatibility is a massive win for users who have already invested in PlayStation's ecosystem. Moreover, Sony has ensured that the Portal integrates seamlessly with the PlayStation Network for multiplayer gaming, digital downloads, and streaming services, making it a versatile device for all kinds of entertainment. ### Connectivity and Additional Features The PlayStation Portal includes various connectivity options like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and optional 4G or 5G capabilities. This ensures players can stay connected for multiplayer games and can also stream games from their console at home, leveraging Sony's Remote Play feature. The device also sports additional features like a built-in microphone, stereo speakers, and a headphone jack, enhancing the audio experience for both multiplayer communication and solo play. ### Price and Availability The pricing of the PlayStation Portal is competitive, considering its features and capabilities. It's positioned as a premium device but offers good value given its extensive library and high-end gaming potential. ### Conclusion Overall, the PlayStation Portal stands out as a powerful portable gaming device that successfully bridges the gap between handheld play and console experience. Its ergonomic design, robust game library, and solid performance make it a compelling choice for gamers looking to take their favorite games on the road. While battery life could be better and the price point may be steep for some, the PlayStation Portal delivers an unmatched portable gaming experience that could well justify the investment for serious gamers.

These were very hard to find in stock so I was very elated to finally get one. Out of the box the device looks and feels very sleek. It’s probably the most comfortable handheld gaming device I’ve ever held. If you like the the PS5 controller you’ll feel right at home. The screen is the perfect size and looks very vibrant. Be mindful of where you sit because it picks up alot of glare from lighting or the sun which makes it hard to see. The sound is very ample and there is a 3.5mm headphone jack. The one thing I noticed was when I first started playing a game, it seemed the there was some latency. I have very fast internet at home, but for some reason the games weren’t running as well as I thought they should. So I went online and saw that there was a tip of unplugging the hdmi cable from your PS5 when playing the PS Portal. Make sure to unplug it before you turn on the ps5 from the portal. To my surprise it worked and the Portal was running games great. The solution is kind of a nuisance, but did not ruin the experience. Overall, this is not the Playstation portable experience we’ve all been waiting for like a new PSVita, but if you own a PS5, I think this is a peripheral that while not essential, is very enjoyable, practical, and complimentary device for the system. For the price i’m very satisfied with it.

Great portable device! I take this with me so I have something to do in hotel rooms or dont want to occupy the TV. It works great once you get everything set up. There have been some amazing software upgrades since I purchased it, too. It just keeps getting better. The graphics are great, the screen is fantastic, and it's performs. It checks all the boxes.

Two weeks in, the PlayStation Portal has quietly become one of my most-used pieces of gaming hardware. As a dad with limited time and even more limited access to the TV, it’s solved exactly the problem I knew I had. It does what it promises. Stream your PS5 to a handheld screen, and over a wired Ethernet connection, it’s remarkably close to the real thing. Setup is painless, the interface is intuitive, and the experience is genuinely flawless. Late-night sessions in bed, a quick 20 minutes while the kids nap. The Portal makes these moments possible without any friction. Sony didn’t cut corners on the hardware either. The packaging feels premium, the build quality matches, and it’s comfortable in hand during longer sessions. The one real gripe is that Sony steers you toward their own overpriced wireless headphones. It’s a pretty cynical upsell on an otherwise great device. The workaround is simple though. A Bluetooth adapter like the Avantree Relay adds AirPod support and works a treat. Minor audio gripe aside, this gets five unqualified stars. It hasn’t just added convenience. It’s genuinely changed how gaming fits into my life.

This is perfect for in the go gaming. If you go to a friend's house and want to play fornite with them, it's easier to bring this instead of lugging your whole PS5. It's really convenient and I don't notice any lag with decent wifi. The battery life is really good and the screen quality is great too!

The PS five portal is overall a really nice Runu version of the PSP. You can play the game anywhere as long as you have Wi-Fi or a hotspot connection. It’s good for kids comes with a lot of games as long as you have the PlayStation subscription and it also comes with remote plate if you have the PlayStation five console. I recommend this as a 10 out of 10 present for a teenage boy or young boy or a girl birthday gift, Christmas gift, etc.. the screen on it is overall bigger than i expected and very smooth. It holds a good battery. The screen is clear and touchscreen as well. The accessories available for this product are very easy to buy and search for.

I was on the fence about this one since you can’t play without WiFi and can only play whatever disc that is in the PS5. I’m old school and I like having the physical disc as opposed to buying digital cause you cant sell a digital game like you can the disc version. I opened the box and was blown away at how beautiful and how big the screen is. The controls fit perfectly in your hands unlike the switch. The battery life is really good. The graphics are amazing and I didn’t really see any lag while playing as llong as you have a good WiFi connection. The $200 price is not that bad for what you’re getting. I definitely recommend buying a case for it. The portal controls take over your PS5. I know video games are going towards all digital in the future so my physical games are gonna be obsolete some day so now that I have the Portal it has changed my mind and Im going to start buying digital games because this thing is so awesome. With all that being said I definitely recommend getting one, you wont be disappointed!

I absolutely love this handheld! I really was skeptical on the gaming and connectivity. Boy was I wrong! Being all the way in Vegas and playing games with no interruption is amazing. The sleek feeling the color everything about this handheld is amazing. I love taking it on the plane or just being out somewhere still able to access my games. Also having the case is super convenient and safe! I even take it to work and play on lunch lol.

I’ve owned the PlayStation Portal for about two years now, and I’m honestly surprised by how much more valuable it has become since launch. While most tech feels dated after a couple of years, this has actually improved because Sony has consistently supported it, especially with the added features to the cloud gaming service. The Display & Build The screen is easily the standout feature. Even after heavy use, it remains vibrant (colors are punchy and bright), sharp (image quality is crisp with no noticeable smearing) and responsive (latency is minimal, making for a very fluid experience). Despite the size, the unit feels remarkably light and well-balanced in the hand. It doesn't cause the hand fatigue that some other handhelds do during long sessions. In terms of the controls - if you like the DualSense, you’ll love this. It feels exactly like a standard PS5 controller. The haptic feedback is just as immersive as the console version. The LED lighting gives it that premium PlayStation look. There are some minor drawbacks. No Bluetooth Audio - having to use wired headphones or PlayStation Link-compatible gear is a bit of a hurdle. Also lack of a physical touchpad means you have to use the screen for touchpad inputs, which isn't always ideal. Final Verdict: Overall, this is a fantastic portable gaming device. Whether you're using it away from home or just want to play on the couch while the TV is occupied, it’s perfect as long as you have a decent wireless connection. It’s a rare piece of hardware that has actually gotten better with age.

Quality of gaming on this has been as expected. Everything works great as long as you have a strong WiFi signal. Sometimes it takes a good minute to connect to your home PlayStation, even when you’re in the same room as it, but otherwise works great for why I bought it. When my kiddo is on the tv or if I just want to play from the bedroom.
