Absolutely love the PlayStation Portal! Setup was quick and intuitive, and the remote play connection works surprisingly well—even on Wi-Fi. The 8-inch LCD screen is crisp and vibrant, and the controls feel just like a DualSense controller. Perfect for when the main TV is in use or for gaming around the house. Battery life is decent, and there's no noticeable input lag when the network is stable. Highly recommend for any PS5 owner who wants flexibility and portability!

The PS Portal is an excellent product that exceeded my expectations. It is made with premium materials and feels very solid and durable in the hands. The battery life is quite reasonable for its performance, lasting long enough for extended gaming sessions. As long as you have a strong and stable internet connection, the PS Portal functions smoothly and provides an impressive remote play experience. Overall, I’m very satisfied with this purchase and would definitely recommend it to any PlayStation owner looking for a high-quality way to play on the go.

This is perfect for in the go gaming. If you go to a friend's house and want to play fornite with them, it's easier to bring this instead of lugging your whole PS5. It's really convenient and I don't notice any lag with decent wifi. The battery life is really good and the screen quality is great too!

I usually play games on my PC because im lazy to go use my console. Enter PS Portal. This is veet comfortable to hold, and the size of the screen makes it easy on the eyes. Battery life is solid (i usually play plugged in though). Now im able to play on the couch while my fiancee watches tv. With the ps5 hardwired, i noticed verrry little to no latency with the portal. Im still able to plah games like Clair Obscur and GT7 without issue. I took the portal out of state and was still able to play (had a solid wifi connection at the other place).

A Must-Have for PS5 Owners!
I absolutely love the PlayStation Portal. It guve you that ergonomic feel just like using a DualSense controller, but adds a beautiful 8-inch screen in the middle. The picture is crisp, and the controls are relatively responsive as long as you have strong Wi-Fi. If so the experience is smooth and almost lag-free with a few hiccups here and there.
It’s perfect for playing when someone else is using the TV or when I just want to game from bed or the patio. Setup was super easy and the battery lasts for about 6 ish hours.
Unfortunately it’s not a standalone device so no native apps like Netflix or Youtube—you need a PS5 and it doesn’t support Bluetooth headphones just the PS Link headphoes or wired through the 3.5mm jack on the bottom—but for remote play, it delivers exactly what I hoped for. If you’re a PS5 owner who wants more flexibility in how and where you play, this is totally worth it!

Honestly wasnt sure how i would like it but being a dad on the move and having to go places this is a great portable option as long as wifi or data is available. I would say this is better then the backbone and definitely a bigger screen.

A lot of people on various Reddits and over the internet in general said this thing was stupid and pointless but I was still interested in it. I watched a few YouTube reviews on it and a couple said they didn't enjoy it while quite a few others said it was awesome, and I gotta say, this thing IS awesome.
As a married man that likes to play video games late while his partner is asleep but doesn't want to bother or keep her awake with the tv on this thing is incredible. The picture quality is amazing, the sound is crisp and more than loud enough even when playing on my patio. Holding the PS Portal for an extended period of time isn't uncomfortable and my hands don't cramp up and I have fairly large hands, and the controls are identical to the dual shock, even down to the haptics and vibrations.
I will say that I almost give it 4 stars just because you need a pretty solid wifi connection to have full quality when playing from your PS5, but it's almost always in HD and plays incredibly smooth with rare lag or frame drops. That being said, when I go to connect to my PS5 for remote play it only takes about 15-20 seconds to wake up my PS5 and start remote playing, which might seem like a long wait until you realize that when you start your PS5 from rest mode it takes 10 seconds to wake up and be ready play, so really it's hardly a difference.
And the cloud streaming with the PSN+ also works flawlessly. And whether you're playing from the cloud or your PS5 as long as you have a good internet connection you can play anywhere making it fantastic for those that travel a lot or want to bring something on vacation for when the whether is poor, or like me, you want to play games late at night and not wake up your partner.
If you've got the extra $200 and you've been eyeballing one of these bad boys, GET ONE!
P.S. (Not PlayStation) the case I'm using is Skull & Co and it was $25 on Amazon and it's a perfect fit.

I know there was a lot of skepticism about this product but I love it I have had minimal issues and it performs as intended actually it performs above what was intended highly recommend but I will say you should probably have your Internet ethernet cable at home which is probably contributing to the higher quality that I’m receiving 10 out of 10 highly recommend

The Sony PlayStation Portal is an amazing piece of tech with so many use cases. With average internet service, I’ve had zero issues. The screen is vibrant and bigger than you’re expecting. All of the Dual Sense features are here. The controls are responsive and precise. This is a high end product. Play your games on the go, on the couch, or in bed. If you’re hesitant, don’t be. It’s time to pull the trigger. You’ll be happy that you picked up the PlayStation Portal.

Best 200 dollar I have spent so far . I have used it from different homes and as long as you got good WiFi it will work great. I use it for when I don’t want to get out of bed , and my wife is sleeping next to me . Pair it to head phones and play . Also i use it to play it on the go. I was able to even play Fortnite on it because of how smooth it runs . However it’s complicated to get a lot of kills due to the screen size . But for story games it’s perfect . I’ve been playing Elden Ring non stop on it
Built quality :
It’s premium. It feels like a very expensive handheld from the smoothness of the fabric to the weight of the Portal everything is perfect .
Comfort:
It literally feels like you’re holding the PlayStation controller but with more weight which makes it feel even better .
Built in speakers :
They are pretty loud . Not so loud that the sound is distorted. Just a prefect balance.
Screen quality :
10/10 the screen looks vibrant and the colors looked well toned . Also I have played outside in the back porch in a well lit area and you can see pretty the screeb pretty well . I could not be happier with a purchase from Sony .
Recommend 100 percent .

I’ve been using the PlayStation Portal Remote Player since October, and overall I really enjoy it. The build quality feels premium, the screen is crisp, and the controls feel exactly like a DualSense, which makes remote play feel surprisingly close to playing on my PS5 directly.
The only thing keeping this from being a full 5 stars is the battery life. It works well for short to medium play sessions, but I do find myself needing to recharge sooner than expected. For long gaming sessions, you’ll want to keep a charger nearby.
Still, it’s a great device if you want to play around the house without being tied to the TV. If Sony improves the battery life in future versions, it’ll be perfect.

Third Portal, bit of a buyer’s remorse with the previous two, but kept coming to it. This time seems it’ll stick and I can’t get enough. Beware though, PS5 wifi chips are not great especially the original models. So expect to deal with quite a bit of choppiness. But there are way to fix this and it’s not the Portal’s fault. Bonus plus if you’re a PS subscriber you get to stream games directly w/out needing to connect to the PS5 itself.

The ability to play games on your ps5 while someone else uses the TV or when you're not home is actually incredible. I play way more games now than I did before. The only people who shouldn't get it are people who live alone and don't care to play on the road.

Potentially The Greatest Handheld Ever!!

When Sony first announced the PlayStation Portal, I was skeptical. As someone looking for a cheap way to game without investing in a full-fledged console, I wasn’t sure if a streaming-based handheld was the right fit. But after spending some time with it, I have to admit—it’s an incredibly functional device that surprised me in more ways than one.
The PlayStation Portal feels like a product that was put together quickly to meet the rising demand for game streaming. At the time of its release, cloud gaming was gaining traction, and Sony needed an answer to the growing competition. Rather than building a fully-fledged handheld, they focused on what they do best: PlayStation games, streamed seamlessly to a dedicated device. And it works. On a solid internet connection, the experience is near flawless. There’s very little input lag, and playing through the Portal genuinely feels like using a PS5 in handheld form. The recent update allowing access to cloud gaming has made it even better, expanding the library and removing the previous limitation of requiring a local PS5.
The hardware itself is simple but effective. The screen isn’t anything over-the-top—no OLED or high refresh rate—but it gets the job done. Colors are vibrant enough, and the display size makes gaming feel immersive without being bulky. Battery life is decent, lasting long enough for several play sessions before needing a charge. It’s clear that Sony’s focus here was on function rather than pushing the limits of handheld technology, and in many ways, that was the right call for this particular device.
But the real potential of the PlayStation Portal lies in what could come next. Sony has a golden opportunity to turn this into something truly special with a hardware-focused sequel. Imagine a PlayStation handheld that isn’t just about streaming but also capable of running games natively. Sony has done it before—look at the PSP and the Vita. A dedicated handheld with proper internals, perhaps borrowing tech from the PS4 or even a custom chipset optimized for handheld gaming, could redefine the market. If they take the lessons learned from the Portal and apply them to a more powerful, standalone device, they could create the greatest handheld console ever.
A PlayStation Portal 2, built for more than just streaming, could bring new wealth to Sony. With a strong first-party lineup, potential third-party support, and the backing of an already massive PlayStation ecosystem, it could be a serious contender in the handheld space. The current Portal is proof that there is demand for a PlayStation handheld—it’s functional, accessible, and consumer-friendly. Now, Sony just needs to take the next step and give us the hardware-focused handheld that PlayStation fans truly deserve.
