great full featured cassette recorder

I've had this recorder for around 4 years now, it shows very little wear for the amount of use it receives. I use it for leisure. I've got some higher end cassette equipment and this holds up, I find myself using it more than the other equipment on a day to day business, it comes with me where ever I go. the features are totally loaded on this device with variable speed controls and recording controls. I suggest it to anyone I know who is looking for a walkman device, the built in speaker in decent sounding as well with a moderate volume, that is one thing that could be a little better, at high volume it distorts but that is understandable. Buy it, live it, love it.

In a digital age, this product is outdated, of course, but for my application it was perfect. I do radio interviews, and sometimes I just need a simple tape recorder that requires no production time. I record the interview the old-fashioned way and hold it up to the microphone when playing. It works!
Purchased for in-store pick-up; personnel was not ready with product when I arrived, but found in a few minutes.

Long Lasting Easy to Use

I have had this tape recorder for over 7 years. I originally bought it for college to record lectures and it worked quite well for that. I now use it in meetings and it still works well. I have dropped this thing and it still works. I like that I can just pick it up and use it when I need it. It's getting old and the sound quality I have to say has dropped slightly but if I replace it I am thinking that I might just buy the same one because it has lasted so long.

Poor quality

The sound quality is poor even with brand new tapes. After just 5 uses, one of the posts inside broke off. It still worked for 2 more recordings and then the other post broke off leaving the tape to move around. Because of the poor quality, I don't think the price is justified. I am careful with the items I use, so I am surprised it didn't last.

I needed a cassette recorder and luckily I found this product. Its dependable and simple to use; all buttons are clearly marked. It takes full size cassette tapes so there's no need to buy any other gadgits. Its a little expensive but the convenience is worth the price. The outer case is durable; I've dropped it a number of times and it works great.

Disappointing quality.

I use this recorder solely for business. It performed fine for a few months, but now the sound cuts in and out during playback. Sony used to have a reputation for top quality. This device definitely does not measure up.

I bought this to and after 2 weeks it stopped recording and wouldn't always play back. I took it back and got a new one which lasted a few months and started with the same problem of not recording or playing cassette. It almost seems like there is a short in a wire.

Served our purposes well--recording brief or extended conversations for later review and transcription.

Once I figured out that the VAS was on and got it turned off, it is working great.

Not usable

The motor hiss is so loud that it spoils any voice recording -- making this unusable as a voice recorder. Very disappointing as I still like to use analog recorders, and they're harder and harder to find. BB was very nice about taking it back.
