    I bought this DVD player on 5/2/20. It lasted until 2/21 and died. Sony covered it under warranty and send me a new one very quickly on 2/24/21. The customer service was great. This new one lasted until about 6/21 and it died. Neither one had very many hours on it. I contacted customer service about this second dvd player not working and they said they warranty goes back to the date of the originally purchased dvd player. It surprises me that a compony like Sony wouldn't stand behind their product and honor a year warranty on the second dvd player, which only lasted a few months. Very disappointed in the quality.

    I originally bought this player from Amazon about a year before I bought this from Best Buy. The first one just froze up- wouldn't power off or eject the tray. I stupidly decided to try one again and it ended up doing the same thing about 6 months later. I contacted Sony and they acted like this was common and they sent me another one. It lasted one month before it did the same thing. I bought an LG one this time and hope for better luck. I have never written a review on a product I purchased from Best Buy before, but if I can even save one person from buying this awful product than this was worth it!

    It turns out this player doesn't have an app for Amazon Prime and after doing some research online and playing with the machine for a while, there wasn't a way to download it. We returned it since Netflix and Prime are the two streaming services we use. It also supposedly had hundreds of apps but I only saw a couple dozen and again, I couldn't figure out how to add any more. We returned this product.

    Had owned the first (and very expensive) Sony BD player, the BDP-S1 for over a decade and quite happy with it but it could not play some newer BD's. Bought the BDP-S3700. Carefully followed instructions to set it up. When pushed the INPUT button on the S3700 remote it changed the input channel on the TV and made it so the TV remote could not change it back. This meant the S3700 could not send its signal to the proper TV input channel. Had to turn everything off and restart, which I did many times, always with same result. Kind of soured me on Sony. Returned for refund.

    Kept bricking

    We bought two of these. One bricked within the first week. Took it back and exchanged it for a new one. A month later that one did the exact same thing! The other original one we bought has been fine so far. It's like it starts an update and just locks up in "on" mode.

    I purchased a Geek Squad coverage and I'm glad I did because the first one I ordered online was defective and they still had some in the store and I purchased one. So far so good but it acts up at times. It also it's not made in Japan but on the remote it says Indonesia.
