I made the mistake of buying two lg's three years ago and have never been happy with them. This is the third Sony in the house and it works great

Works great. We bought it specifically to connect to streaming services. We have had no problem with wifi connection. Easy to setup and operate.

Everything works flawlessly and is very intuitive. My only complaint would be that HBO and Showtime are not included in the Apps.

However, I got it to read video files from my computer. Sony responded to my question of would it read my hard drive with a yes. I was replacing a WD Live Streamer. It did, but not all the files. It didn't read ANY .mkv. I asked Sony WHY it was not reading my .mkv and Joffrey said, "This player support .mkv files. Please check the supported formats of this player in the link below." I KNEW IT SHOULD, I asked why it wasn't! So I got the 6700 with the same results. NO .mkvs unless they were on a thumb drive plugged into the front. That didn't make sense, either. But it also didn't read all the .mp4s and not sure if it read all the .avis. So we returned it and I went back to the drawing board. This weekend, maybe because it's EASTER, I was looking at the ethernet cord we'd been using, thinking what should I do to keep it out of the reach of my 9 mo old grandson, when I heard a voice that said, "PLUG IT INTO YOUR TV!" With the help of three cats trying to help me find the right port, inspecting the port to make sure it was working and making sure I plugged it right, I got it. Well, it doesn't see .mp4s on my computer's hard drive, but it plays them if plugged into the TV on a jump. I don't understand. It sees more files than the other two and is very cost effective. I just don't understand why these things will not read .mkv and ALL the mp4 and avis?

Have had great experiences with sony products in the past but after purchasing this Blu-Ray player i will look to other manufacturers for this kind of product. The smallest inconvenience is it's start-up time. Menu will display fairly quickly but won't let you do anything for about a minute while all the apps initialize. Not the end of the world but annoying when you're ready to watch something and you're just sitting there. The worst part BY FAR though is that it is terrible at connecting to your internet. The wireless connection will see my router and say "Connected" but anytime i try to pull up Youtube or Netflix it says "Unable to cannect. Do you want to change your internet settings?" or "Checking network connection. Please Wait". When first purchased this occurred but after about 3-5 minutes it would connect and be fine. Annoying but i'm not really the type to return purchases over any little gripe. Unfortunately the window for returns has passed and it's gotten to where it's a guessing game any time i try to pull up one of these apps. There's about a 50% chance that it will eventually connect after about 7-10 minutes of sitting time but equal chances that i'll get absolutely nothing. Restart - wait 1.5 minutes for reboot/initialize Wait the (if i'm lucky) 3.5 minutes to see if it will get a connection. Dig through the settings to see if there's SOMETHING i can do to make it more functional. Wrap back to the home page test youtube again Fail Reset Wash/Rinse/Repeat I'm not a crazy NetOps/IT guy but i'm fairly tech savy. I can navigate through most issues or research enough to address most issues but this little Blu-Ray player has me way more frustrated than I'd like to admit. This isn't an issue with my Wi-Fi router since nothing else in the house has any issue connecting to it. My old Sony BluRay player worked like a champ and connected great for about 6 years (it also booted quicker but i digress). It eventually died but it had a good run. If i could get an exact replica of it I would but for now I'll be looking to Sony's competitors for a replacement and will be much more particular about how well something performs when i first get it out of the box.

Got this blu-ray player as a Christmas gift. I love it so far. Great for streaming Netflix.

This machine has a good interface with several apps. Easy to use and quick to set up.

This device is great for Bluray and DVDs. Not too bad as a streaming device.

This is a pretty good BR/DVD combo player overall. My only complaint is that overtime of playing DVDs it starts freezing and difficult for the tray to open up. I can play a Blu Ray disc and have no problem at all still.
