Love these headphones!
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I will never go on a flight without my Sony's ever again. Not really sure what the pressure control actually does, but the sound and ease of use is great otherwise.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fantastic !!! Great Sound but the controls are little difficult for me to work. The headset has great features. My wish list would be some physical feature for the sense of touch when using the "hidden" tablet style control panel. Otherwise, I find it difficult to know what I am tapping so to speak.

THE BEST

So far so good
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sound quality, comfort and build quality are all pretty solid. One of the reasons I purchased these over the competition is for the ambient sound mode. I don't believe this feature is as good as the "Street Mode" on the Parrot Zik, but it is adjustable, so I may just need to get the settings right

My New Favorite Headphones
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Over the last couple years, I’ve reviewed quite a few wireless headphones for Best Buy’s Tech Insider Network and I also own several different brands and styles myself. Out of all those, I want to say that these new Sony WH-1000XM2 Wireless Noise Canceling Headphones are my new favorite headphones! NOISE CANCELING: The #1 feature. Putting these new Sony noise canceling headphones on your head is like stepping into an audiometric sound isolation booth and closing the door! They provide near total immersion into an ambient sound deprivation experience that I didn’t know was possible with a set of headphones. Basically, you only hear what comes through the headphones, not what’s around the headphones. The only way to truly experience the effect is to put them on in a noisy environment and listen to the audio world around you melt away as the noise canceling optimizer tailors its performance to you and your environment. Truly astounding! SOUND: Excellent sound quality. My music sounds great. And there is no better way to watch movies than with these babies on. You control your own volume and never miss any dialogue. COMFORT: I found I could wear these headphones for hours without any discomfort, even when wearing eyeglasses. STYLE: They look sharp. The gun metal grey frame and black matte ear cups and head band are a stylish combination. ACCESSIBILITY: For those with disabilities of the hands, like myself, you will find the swiping feature for volume and playback control to be all you need for complete ease of use. Thank you Sony for engineering this feature!! BATTERY CHARGE: I received them on Friday morning a week ago, fully charged them that afternoon and have used them every evening for about 4 hours of TV watching for the last 8 days, plus several hours of music listening here and there. Only last night did the red light begin flashing telling me the charge was getting low. That’s approximately 35 hours of use on one battery charge! Very impressive Sony. RECOMMENDATION: Yes and without a hint of hesitation. These headphones deliver everything Sony promises and more.

Good noise cancellation head phones in the price r
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall the performance and quality of the product is good, but they are little heavy and sound quality could have been better. Noise cancellation is 70 percent , it cannot filter out certain noises. The product is worth for price. The next version has overcome with all cons.

Okay head phones
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought it because it was on sale, used it for a week and wasn’t too happy with it. Overall it was okay. I had nose qc15 before this and thought I’d replace it with a better one, but the boss sound quality and comfort is far superior! I returned it after a couple of weeks

Best Value and Performance in Price Range
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These headphones are one of my favorite gadgets I own. They are so well built and are fully sound cancelling. I had the MDR1000x MK1 before this and decided to upgrade for the better battery life, touch controls, and app support. I’m going to list the pros and cons I’ve encountered so far and give some recommendations. -+Pros+- 1) Noise Cancellation/Isolation- The MDR1000x MK1 were great and these are built as an upgrade from them. When I close my eyes I feel I’m in a totally different world silencing the noise around me. 2) Touch Controls- this is such a cool feature. I’m an early tech adopter and have been loving it. Sometimes it doesn’t register my hand gestures but I mean it’s not the end of the world. Always registers the second time. The palm over the right cup to hear ambient noise is my favorite feature. No one on the other end knows what’s going on so you can hear what others are saying without them thinking you can hear them :). Super cool nonetheless! 3) Battery Life- Sony advertises 30-40 hours. I can say this is pretty accurate. I go on walks and listen to music while studying overall and super happy about it! 4) App- the app is easy to use and allows to pick between different sound modes and effects. One con is when using Tidal the Music Center only functions with Apple Music (I just use iOS and Tidal) It integrates well with Spotify and Pandora though. 5) Wireless Freedom and Versatility- these headphones work great wirelessly and last long. You also get the option of going wired for better sound quality or if the battery dies (has yet to happen to me). The downside when using in wired mode is you lose touch controls and other things. 6) Adaptive Engine- These headphones adjust to you and what you are doing. Noise cancelling will automatically allow ambiance in when you are walking and running, but when on a train, bus, or car it will kill all sound around you. -=Cons=- 1) Potential for cracking- I had the MDR 1000x MK1 for months and did not face the crack issues other have. But in my opinion, cracks are a trade off for what you get. These are built of a different plastic/urethane so only time will tell if Sony corrected this issue. 2) Touch controls- these take some getting used to. They also sometimes do not register on the first try. They are sensitive but I am sure I will master them. 3) No USB-C Support- In 2017 I would have expected USB C connectors. For this price it would have been nice to see since no other headphones have this. -=||The Verdict||=- If you are looking at these headphones, budget isn't an issue for you. I would recommend these over others solely on the noise cancelling performance and sound. If you add in all the another features these are the best hands down for the price. I’d recommend these to anyone who is looking to get a good quality headphone that is versatile with great sound cancelling and new technology. These are and will be for some time my daily driver for headphones.

Superb comfort and sound quality.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The only negative is the instruction manual that comes with the headset. They lack the descriptive text one would expect with something of this cost and quality.

Mic not noise cancellation
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The mic. is very bad. Don't use in noisy environment. The noise cancellation is for the headset only. Not for the mic. It picks up the noisy background, and other side of people cannot hear what I said.

Great cans, just not for me
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Right away, let me say Nothing was wrong with the Sony's. I wanted to listen to TV more than music from my phone. The Sony's would not match up the dialogue to the video due to lag. I bought Sennheiser headphones made specifically for that purpose.

Sony vs Bose
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Most of the people reading these reviews will be comparing the Sony 1000XM2 to the Bose QC35II. Just a few months ago it was the 1000x vs the original QC35 but there have been improvements to the new models, but most of what made the original cans great have been retained. Sony has added aptX-HD, which my LG V20 phone offers as well. First time I got to see the logo pop-up on my phone! This enables the transmission of Hi-Res audio over Bluetooth. It’s good to know the FLAC files playing from my phone are playing at their best over Bluetooth on the 1000XM2s. More on that later. They added a phone app which works on Android and iOS. There is a new feature called Adaptive Sound Control that will adjust the level of Noise Cancelling dependent on what you are doing. It knows when you are standing still and will go into 100% cancelling. If you move around, it will let a slight amount of ambient noise in. I tested this on a dog walk and it works, but at a cost. Say you start with 100% NC. When you start walking, the headphones will sound a tone letting you know the NC has changed. If you walk for a bit and then stand still for a moment, you get another beep when the NC changes back. This interrupts whatever you’re listening to. Thankfully you can leave this feature off and simply adjust the NC manually, all in the app. There are a few other App functions that seem more gimmicky than useful, like Sound Position Control and the Surround modes. The Optimizer feature will adjust the NC based on your head, if you wear glasses, a hat, etc. It will also adjust based on the outside air pressure for airplane travel. Then we get to the Sound Quality Mode. There are two options; Priority on Sound Quality and Priority on Stable Connection. Priority on Sound Quality needs to be selected if you want aptX-HD to work. When Stable Connection is selected, the Bluetooth will default to SBC DSEE HX. There is an Equalizer feature in the App, but if you are connected with aptX-HD, you cannot use it, along with the gimmicky options already mentioned. A prompt will come up that says you must switch to Stable Connection if you try to use them. Each time you switch the Quality Mode, the Bluetooth connection must be reestablished which stops music playback. I listed to both modes and with aptX-HD, you don’t need the equalizer. The sound is much more dynamic and the range is noticeably better than when on DSEE HX. You can see what Bluetooth codec you are in at the top of the App. The equalizer is nice though and for me, “Excited” sounded best with what I listened to, and there are also two Custom options. Sony also added 10 hours of listening time to the battery! I patiently waited to see what Bose would be adding to the updated QC35s. Well…they added Google Assistant and 2 oz. of weight…. According to the online specs, The original QC35s come in at 8.3 oz while the new QC35IIs are 10.9 oz. Both Sonys are 9.7 oz, so the new Bose are heavier. I’m not sure what Bose was thinking since they have had ample time to integrate innovative technology to improve audio quality, but instead go for gimmicks. I’m not that integrated into Android or Google that I use the assistant, so that feature is worthless to me. For the same amount of money, the Sony 1000XM2 offer a better-quality music listening experience, which is what I want in $350 headphones. Not a new way to add to my planner. Now lets talk about the differences in Noise Cancellation. Almost all reviews I’ve read or watched, mention they are pretty equal, but don’t delve too much into the details. There is a difference between the two. When NC is turned on in the Sony, there is a slight pressure and also a slight white noise. Cup your hands over your ears and you get the idea. Could be your blood flow, like when you put your ear to a sea shell. I don’t hear the white noise with the Bose, but the ear pressure is far greater to me. It’s a feeling like I need to pop my ears but can’t and can be uncomfortable. So for me, I either have some slight white noise with Sony, or a lot of ear pressure with Bose. It’s probably subjective so I would try both in store before deciding on one or the other. As for comfort, this is one area I think the Bose do better. The padding on the top of the 1000MX2 (and x for that matter), is miniscule. The Bose padding fits my head better and feels nicer. Last year it was a harder decision to choose since the Sony’s were $400 and the Bose $350. With both being the same price, the 1000XM2 are the easy choice if sound quality and useful features are your priority, especially if your phone has aptX-HD built-in.
