It's HEAVY. I definitely do bit suggest you carry around at all times. It's great flash for the price, has amazing features on it.
It's heavy, so I suggest only bring it if you intend to shoot at night. It eats through AA batteries. I believe I used it once for a shoot and the battery light came on

Still trying to figure it out but I mostly shoot in the E-TTL mode which is just auto flash and it’s amazing. I’ve been needing a flash that would be pretty cheap and found this one at a local Best Buy and decided to get it. Best purchase so far.

I bought this for taking my daughter’s outdoor senior portraits. It worked great! There are multiple intensity settings which are easily adjusted. There is also auto I believe, but I used the manual. I haven’t been able to play around with it too much, but I feel like this is a great flash for the value. It even has a little flap that you can use with the flash pointed up or away from your subject to try to diffuse the light a bit. I tried this but it didn’t do much being outside. That feature is probably better used for indoor photography. The only thing I’m not too crazy about is the use of batteries. I kind of wish it was rechargeable, but that’s a minor detail. Again, I’ve only used it once so far for senior portraits. It lasted the entire session, or a couple hundred photos. Not sure how much life is left on the batteries, but I will just have to remember to always have spares with me when I go on a shoot. Overall, I’m very happy with my purchase. I was considering a different type that had different color settings, but I chose this one because it was cheaper and I felt like I could maybe figure something out with this flash to get different color flash (colored glass/plastic maybe?). I have a Nikon Z5 camera.

I bought this flash to mount on my Nikon Z5. I had never used an external flash before, and I decided to give this flash a try for a shoot that was going to take place indoors. Thanks to all the positive reviews and how budget friendly it was, I went with it. This flash helped me obtained the images I was hoping for. I still have much more to learn, but I'm very happy with the results.

A very nice and easy use of a flash. The only con is that it takes batteries that aren't rechargeable. Adds weight to the camera, but I personally enjoy it.

I'm using this with a Z series Nikon and it synced right up no prob and was all controlled in the camera. Very nice, I don't see the need to spend 3-400 more for the same thing. Only thing I've had an issue with is using it with the camera cage on because the IR sensor sticks out front a little bit much. But off camera ttl adapter fixes that and let's you get the flash off the top of the camera, which gets kinda heavy. I'd recommend it for sure.

Got it yesterday and so far I'm thrilled with the features. I can see how this might be a bit over whelming for some people, I just wish I could find a manual online because it's a bit small for these old eyes.

Love this flash I'm not a professional Photographer but.. I take a lot of pic of family and decorating projects. I no longer have to trip over light stands and cords. It is a little heavy when attached to my cannon so I bought a better tripod tpp.

It does its job for a decent price compared to the brand name accessories. It fits my canon eos rebel dsrl and eos R mirrorless camera as well. Fully digital display with easy to follow instructions, the flash is useful up to a distance of about 30 feet outdoors for a decent picture. Uses 4 AA batteries not included, it feels a little heavy but makes you feel like a pro as well.

The Sunpak DF4000U External Flash has been a game-changer for my photography setup! As someone who’s always struggled with low-light shooting, this flash has completely transformed the way I take photos. It’s super easy to use, even for someone like me who isn’t a professional photographer.
The adjustable angles and range give me so much flexibility—I can bounce light off walls or ceilings for softer, more natural shots. I’ve been using it with my DSLR, and the results are incredible; my photos look so much more vibrant and professional now.
What surprised me most is how lightweight and compact it is. It’s easy to carry in my camera bag without adding bulk, which is perfect when I’m out shooting on location. If you’re looking for an affordable, reliable external flash that delivers excellent results, I can’t recommend the DF4000U enough!

The Sunpak DF4000U External Flash is a solid choice for anyone needing a reliable and easy-to-use external flash. It provides more than enough flash power for family photos, whether indoors or outdoors, ensuring bright, clear images every time. I found it simple to install, and it synced well with my camera without any issues.
The only downside is the battery life. The AA batteries don’t last long, so I’d recommend carrying extra ones, especially if you're planning a longer photo session. Despite that, for the price, it offers great value and performs well overall.
Overall, the Sunpak DF4000U is a great external flash for casual and family photographers. Just be prepared with extra batteries, and it’ll work wonders for your photos!
