Customers are saying

Customers are delighted by the DUAL 64GB OTA DVR with WiFi's ease of use, reliable WiFi connectivity, and excellent video quality, making it a great option for cord-cutters. However, some users experienced issues with the device overheating and slow channel changing. Concerns were also raised regarding the DVR functionality and limited internal storage. The setup process, while generally praised for its simplicity, could benefit from improvements.

This product works great and is reliable. I love the fact that it supports a TV guide. However it is a paid subscription. This I was unaware of. The DVR works well. So far no issues. I would have rated 5 stars but the product is a little slow.

This has worked well for me. Easy to use, after a somewhat slow set-up process. The image quality during a live stream and off a recording are good, even at the medium settings. Nice to have the built in hard drive so I don't have to worry about extra components. Wish the app would update channels faster, and frustrating that you can't schedule recordings from your TV unless you buy the subscription. (You can schedule recordings from the app though, which is fine.)

    Tablo is the solution

This tablo is a great DVR solution if you are using OTA antenna. One thing that was disappointing was when I connected my antenna to tablo i received less channels than when I had it connected to my Xbox one via hauppague tuner. You definitely lose some signal strength by connecting to Tablo as opposed to straight to a TV or an Xbox one tuner. I called tablo about this and they said that it was normal (the reason was technical for me to explain but they did give me a reason). The folks at Tablo were easy to get on the phone, seemed knowledgable and were ready to assist with any problems, that is a big plus. It’s so easy to set up that you probably won’t need any help though. It’s great that you only need one antenna rather than having to buy an antenna for every TV or splitting your feed. I can watch and record live TV from my antenna on any TV (as long as you have installed the Tablo App on your roku, firestick, Xbox, etc). I can even watch and record from my mobile device when I am not home. One other thing that doesn’t bother me too much but may bother some people is that it can take about 10-20 seconds to change the channel. It’s not a big deal because I’m not going to be channel surfing the OTA feed, I’m either watching something or recording something. Depends on your location how many OTA channels you can get. Tablo gives you free guide data for the next 24 hours, that’s ok. If you want the 2 weeks of guide data, cover art, ability to set series recordings, and ability to watch when outside of your home network, then you do need to pony up 5 bucks a month, $100 a year, or $150 for your life. That seems reasonable to me. This device, to my knowledge, cannot be used with cable or streaming services. It’s for OTA only. It runs a little hot and I understand that that is normal. If you plan on ditching cable and you want to DVR network television, this is a product that you need. I paid $200 for the tablo duel. It’s a little steep upfront but worth every penny, in my opinion

    Neat device for Cord Cutters

Having read a review advocating for this device as easy to use for those seeking to use an HD antennae instead of paid cable/TV, it seemed like a no brainer. Price is not bad considering it was a one time investment and compared to what monthly prices are for Major Providers such as Slime Warner, or similar giants, it's understandable. Recommend that you understand what your personal needs are when it comes to cutting the cord before you purchase equipment as I was unaware that a Chromecast, which I currently utilize, is not 100% suitable for streaming the recorded content from the Tablo to my TV. Please review the content posted on Tablo's site to see what is recommended as a best case scenario for using this product in your home environment (Smart TV, Fire Stick, etc.) Pros: Geek factor Easy to set up Small Form Factor Cost Expandable Storage option Cons: No HDMI port for output directly to TV No remote

Works great! It seems to work better, connected to the router with network cable. I prefer to watch my ota stations directly while in the house, but this device is better for tablets and smart phones away from the house. Watching from the app on FireTV in the home is a bit laggy. I notice a little skip in the movement. This would be excellent for camping, or tailgaiting with a smartphone with unlimited data, a screanbeam mini, and a flatscreen.

This device works great for inside the house but you have to sync your devices that you want to use outside your home. I have a computer at a vacation home and I can't watch my local channels because I would have to bring that computer back home to sync on the network with the Tablo and then within 30 days it lose that sync and I have to start the process all over again.

I bought the Tablo after I canceled my AT&T UVerse service. I set up my Tablo in about 30 minutes. It was easy to set up but getting the settings right to record took some trial and error. I missed recording some shows the first few days but once I fiddled around with it, i got it working just right. This is a great Over-The-Air (OTA) DVR for cord cutters. I use a streaming service that doesn't include my local networks. Now I can record all my favorite OTA shows for free!! I only need one antenna and all the TVs in my home have access. Great Product once you set it up!!

    Poor Performance

Tablo says CUT THE CORD but if you have Tablo you can't cut the real cord because it will not work without at least having cable internet where thousands of Tv programs are available free. It will not connect directly to your TV. As a radio engineer, I am unimpressed. It appears to work fine if you continue to pay Tablo for their guide. However when you don't use the guide to record, it will often skip recording programs that are listed as scheduled. When you power it down, you can not get it back until you go on line. Now it is telling me there is no storage connected even though I have almost nothing stored and it will not let me watch anything it has already stored. This is a complicated device and as the on line comments clearly show it get very complicated if you do not use and pay for their guide every month. I have included a picture of the scheduler clearly showing it is recording the event yet it will not record this event. I have also showed what your screen will look like sometimes if you try to watch something after the device has been powered down. There must be better alternatives.

I canceled cable TV some time ago, mainly because I hated the extra charges for HD, extra TVs, cable boxes, etc. I have tried Sling, Hulu, DirecTV Now, Prime, etc. They are good, but none offers a good option to watch local channels. I got an HD antenna with an amplifier and Tablo. It works great. Set up was really simple: plug the antena into Tablo and Tablo to your Internet router. A simple app scans channels and lets you select which ones you want. Then add the Tablo app to Roku and you are done. I have been watching the World Cup, local channels, and late night: Steven Colbert and Seth Meyers. The quality is as good or better than UVerse and any Internet-based TV service. the DVR works great. I have zero monthly fees. Nada. In fact, I save money because I can watch TV in full HD without using any of my Internet bandwidth, so you can go for a lower-cost package. I still have Sling TV and Netflix, but neither of those is to watch TV. Tablo is not perfect. This is what I did not like: - During one game I had a black screen for a second. Don't know why and has not happened again. - In the current software you cannot set a recording from Roku, I have to do it from my PC or a browser. - It takes about 10 seconds to start watching any channel. So it is not a good option for channel surfing. - HD antennas have a limited number of channels available. Search online for what is your coverage. I live close to the Mansfield dam, in a lower part of the city. We struggle with cell phone coverage. I have no problem with any of the HD aerial channels. I do recommend getting an antenna with an amplifier.

The great thing about this system is it only takes 1 antenna and not a ton of coax cable around the house. With this DVR you run your antenna to your Tablo system. Plug your Tablo system into your WiFi and you can watch your recorded shows from any tablet, smart phone, or smart tv in your home (or any streaming device like a Roku). It’s easy to install but to properly set it up can be difficult. It took awhile to get the settings right but once I got it right we have crystal clear recordings of our TV shows

This Tablo Dual DVR works great for cable cutters! It works for me! I am cable free! The concept of this device connecting to your home network is even better because you can stream to any TV in your house, provided you have a streaming device attached to each TV. I connected my Tablo direct to my network via ethernet cable. Setup and operation is quick, super easy, and actually works! I use a Roku Ultra to stream on my main TV and a Roku Streaming Stick (black) to stream on 2 other TVs. All TVs are Sony Bravia TVs. The Tablo TV guide is a must companion, even if you do have to buy a subscription after the initial 30-day free trial. The guide makes viewing and recording programs way easy. Subscriptions are not expensive. Highly recommend Tablo Dual DVR!

Perfect Companion for my Mohu Antenna

After doing a lot of research, I purchased the Tablo Dual DVR to go along with a Mohu Air 60 antenna. It was easy to set up and works great! I now stream wirelessly with 3 different products from Roku. (Premier, Premier+ and a streaming stick) I also purchased 3 sideclick remotes to go with the Roku remotes. If you have several people in your household you will probably want to go with the Tablo 4-Tuner OTA. For the 2 of us, the Tablo Dual works fine. It is so easy to record OTA shows and watch them with the user friendly guide. Although you have the ability connect to your router wirelessly with the Dual, I recommend that you use the ethernet connection. I highly recommend purchasing a Tablo DVR.

I love this. I have AppleTVs and Rokus on all my TVs and no cable, but the football game my father-in-law wanted to watch was only on local channels during thanksgiving. I bought this, hooked it up to an antenna in the attic, setup the wifi, and we got local OTA on all of the TVs through the tablo app.

This device works as advertised. However, as others reviewers noted, video and audio encoding is pretty weak. Using this on a 65 in 4k tv really shows the low frame and granular pixelation on recordings. Having built in storage is a plus over other tablo models. Streaming device support and apps are second to none. No one does it more simpler than tablo. If tablo could improve the internal processor for faster channel switching, better encoding, and reduce the fee for their data subscription, this device could kill the cable industry and set up an interesting acquisition by the likes of Amazon or Dish.

Not sure where to start but this needs quite some fixing! The unit frequently crashes. When you power it up and thand external USB is connected it is not properly detected. Must disconnect and reconnect first. When you add an external drive, all of the internal memory goes to waste - it's unused! Changing channels on ATV is a pain. It takes 5-10 seconds for the program to show! You can't switch to the guide while you still watch the channel. When you want to change, the love TV stops. No PIP despite dual tuner. Video quality is mediocre. Overall this has more issues than it solves.
