Great Game As Always! One Little Issue
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have Skyrim on various platforms. It’s my favorite game ever and I will never not recommend it. However one issues I have with the Switch version is there is this terrible scratching/sudden static sound that happens every ones in a while when playing. This issue made it hard for me to decide between 4 starts or 5 since it doesn’t affect the game itself but rather it’s just an annoyance. It comes and goes but it can be a real damper on the game play. It’s quite annoying but since it doesn’t last long and you can usually make it stop by saving and restarting the application, it’s not a huge miss for me. Other than that the game is as fantastic as ever. Still good old Skyrim. :)

Skyrim in the palm of your hand...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Lets get a few things out of the way... Yes, this is a six year old game. Yes, the graphics are a bit dated by current standards. Yes, you probably purchased this on one or more platforms in the past. All that being said, this is Skyrim on a handheld system. That is a testament to how fast technology has advanced in just six short years. It runs remarkably well. It looks great on the handheld screen at 720, and looks fine docked at 1080p. As good as a current PC, PS4 or Xbox? No. Does that matter? No. I know everyone likes to compare specs these days. But if specs are your top priority, you probably shouldn't own a Switch. You can now play a game that just 5-6 years ago required a high end gaming PC. A remarkable achievement. Overall, this review isn't about the specifics of the game. There are hundreds of reviews going back years if you want those. This version doesn't have mods but that is ok. This is to introduce those who never took the time to play Skyrim and enjoy it in portable form. Highly Recommended. Lets hope Morrowind and Oblivion are not far behind.

DLCs are included!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Doesn’t state it but it comes with the 3 DLCs and also the Zelda items. Is pricey but you get the bonuses. I waited until I had certificates to take most of the blow for me. Now I can play Skyrim in bed, school, or hook it up to the projector

A Bit Clunky, but Scarily Addicting
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have somewhere around 40hrs in this game and I quite like it. It's not my usual cup of tea, but I have fun being a menace in the simulated society. My dad however, is a completely different kind of player. He was curious about it one night when he saw me playing for a bit. I set him up on my guest account creating a character and I basically lost my Switch for an entire month after that!! So, I bought him this physical copy and we transferred his save data over (fairly easy process btw, thanks Nintendo). He's now somewhere in the 50s with his orc werewolf and has nearly completed the entire map! He's an OG WOW player from back in the day, so I'm not surprised about his ability to grind and the bizarre little exploits he's managed to find embedded within the game. If you haven't played Skyrim yet though, it's a real treat. Something special for sure.

2nd Best open world game I have played
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Game has a unique start in that you do not create your character right away, but have to watch a starting scene play out first. Then after you create one, you are thrown straight into the fire. Once you are allowed to go off on your own, it calms down a little. Even though this game has been out for a while, this port to the Switch platform adds to the game play. It is best to use the Joycons individually and not with any joining grips. The reason for this is the game takes advantage to the motion control of each Joycon separately. The ability to switch between first and third person perspective while playing give you a chance to look around more easily if you lose sight of objective. This is the first game I have played that has this ability. It is sightly problematic when you perspective changes while you are mashing away in a battle.

Massive world...portable fun!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ok, let me start by saying that I am completely new to the world of Skyrim but after playing for several hours let me just say that I can see why this game had earned the all the kudos and accolades it did waay back in 2011. This marks the sixth console on which this game has appeared on, and while some aspects are beginning to show its age, its still every bit the awesome game that it was all those years ago. Graphically this stands toe to toe with the PS3 or XBOX 360 versions, albeit with some sacrifices on draw distance and things popping up far away. The framerate is solid and while I haven't got to the big action pieces yet, what I have seen is impressive. Even more so given that until now, this game has never been on a portable system. The DLC that came out after the games' release, Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn, is all there too making this package even more worthwhile. There are no 'mods' (adjustments to the game made by fans) on it, so you can only play the game proper (sorry Thomas the Tank Engine fans), but again it is an absolute revelation that it plays and looks as well as it does on the not-as-powerful Nintendo Switch. New to the Switch version is motion controls and amiibo functionality. The motion controls you may or may not like but they are done fairly well-especially if you go the archer route. The amiibos give you treasure chests, but only once every 24 hours. A cool addition is that you can get Zelda exclusives, including the Hylian Shield, BOTW Tunic, and...The Master Sword!!!-when you use zelda based amiibo. Its random but they occur fairly often. Don't worry if you don't have Zelda amiibo, these Switch exclusives occur in game at some point as well. Playing this I realize that Breath of the Wild got a lot of inspiration from the gameplay of Skyrim. The bottom line: If you have never played Skyrim this is a must buy! If you have never experienced Skyrim before think Breath of the Wild meets Game of Thrones. There is alot to learn and not a lot of hand holding but its a 5 star game. If you owned this and played it already then I cant say this version justifies revisiting Skyrim once again as $60 is a lot for a 6 year old game. That it is portable now may entice those who played to shell out another $60 for the ability to drop in on the inhabitants of Tamriel once again.

Just like you remember
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Honestly it feels really good playing this on handheld. you can also take off the controllers and swing as you wish to attack and defend. im sure there are other gestures. its a little slow, compared to what you expect new consoles to be, but its doable. even if its for nostalgia, you need to get this game.

Portable Skyrim
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Skyrim on the go is a bit surreal. Elder Scrolls games are usually when I upgrade to a fancy new PC to handle some of the most impressive visuals in a generation. Now one is running on a tablet, and it looks better than it did on consoles just a few years ago. And not only can you take Skyrim in your pocket, you can sleep it, set it down, and hop right back into the game in no time at all. If you've never experienced Skyrim, you could do worse than buying this version. Maybe you loved Skyrim but never returned to play the expansions. Or maybe you played it to death but still want to be able to have it with you wherever you go. You'll get your money's worth with an Elder Scrolls game.

Nice Switch port, with Zelda items, too
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Despite not being as graphically impressive as it is on other systems, it is really nice to have this game on the Switch. The Zelda gear is also a really cool bonus!

Dragon Born!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.3rd copy of Skyrim i own. Don't regret the purchase and plan on putting in another 100 hrs in this game. Skyrim on the go is also amazing, looks cross between the special edition and the 360 version of the game. Defeating Dragons and other beasts and a chance of becoming a Vampire. What more do you need!? No mods but that's why i have this on PC also. Mainly bought this for portability and on the go play.

Still a masterpiece, reinvigorated by Switch
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Skyrim was amazing when it came out in 2011 and though it is starting to show some age, the game is still incredibly immersive. Nintendo gave us a polished, open-world masterpiece that only Nintendo could with Breath of the Wild earlier this year. In comparison, Skyrim's moment-to-moment gameplay is much rougher around the edges. But while Breath of the Wild's Hyrule feels intentionally, well, wild, Skyrim feels lived-in. If you want an open world filled with dozens of meaty sidequests, lively towns populated with NPCs, and deep lore, then Skyrim offers a different kind of immersion that Zelda does not. It is a different kind of masterpiece in world-building and still holds up well today. If you are a Nintendo-only gamer that has never played it, I assure you it is worth your time! If you have played it before, only you can decide how much the portability of the Switch matters to you. To me, it's a no-brainer. After a few years away, the Switch got me to go back to Skyrim. Now that I can take it anywhere, I might never leave.

Perfect on the Switch Lite
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've bought Skyrim for more systems than I can remember at this point. I believe this purchase marks the fifth or sixth time I have bought it, including once before for Switch. I originally traded my Switch version because the controls felt so horrible. With the standard Joy-Cons, this game came close to unplayable for me. Everything felt very slow and ponderous, even when I cranked up the controller sensitivity. I ended up buying a Pro Controller (which is great, by the way), and Skyrim became tolerable. Not fabulous, but tolerable, although I still had to crank up the controller sensitivity and deal with some vertiginous moments. I didn't play enough to justify holding on the game, so I traded it and moved on to other things. Recently, I felt the itch to quest again, and I also had picked up a Switch Lite in the last few months. I wondered if Skyrim would hold up in a portable experience. Despite the controls being horrible with standard Joy-Cons on a TV, playing Skyrim on a Lite has been an absolute joy. I'm not sure exactly what it is, but the controls are perfect on the Lite. Everything seems snappy and tight and combat is just what I'd like. I will admit that the smaller screen of the Lite means I have to squint at some of the text (this is what happens when you get old, kids), but it's not like I end up with headaches. Instead, I can play Skyrim from a fully charged battery down until it tells I need to plug in or lose data. That's got to be 3 hours, at least, which is not typical for me. I love that I can play in bed, in an easy chair, in a boat, with a goat...this is a Switch Lite thing, not the game, but I can say with no hesitation that Skyrim works great in handheld mode. Really, really great. In fact, I would go so far as to say that playing Skyrim on the Switch Lite is my favorite way to play Skyrim. Who knows? I may actually finish the main quest this time.

Excellent Game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first time playing Skyrim and I am thoroughly pleased with my purchase. This game is massive, there is an abundance of content for the player to go through. This game is an RPG, which allows you to create your own character and presents several choices for you during gameplay. Its unique that no two players will experience the game the same way, I am sure on my next playthrough I will play differently. This game has great performance on the Switch. I've played about 20 hours so far and I there hasn't been any frame issues or weird glitches. The only thing I've noticed was some weird audio glitch that has occurred twice. I was exploring White Run when some garbled distorted sounds came blasting from my speakers which lasted for about 1-2 seconds. Besides those minor glitches, eveyrthing is great thus far. If you love adventure games and have an urge to play a deep game I highly recommend adding Skyrim to your Switch collection.

Making a good game even better!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.OK, I'm not going to review the actual game since it's more than 6 years since it came out. I will, however, talk about my experience playing it on the Switch, having already played it originally on the PS3 and then on PC with all mods active. Graphically, of course, it will not even come close to the PS4, XboxOne and PC. It is almost closer to the Xbox 360 version with some washed out colors and blurry graphics. This is more noticeable if you are playing it on the TV. However, what makes this an outstanding port is the ability to play it anywhere on the Switch. I am putting more time into it now off-cradle than back when it was on PC. I had to travel and enjoyed the experience tremendously. I am even going for full completion -even with all the additional content! If you have a Switch and you are a fan of Skyrim, or never had the chance to play it before, I would highly recommend this iteration!

Skyrim Switch
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game scored highly on the other systems it was released on. It was an instant success. The Switch version is more of the same. It looks great and plays well with no slowdown that I've encountered in my playtime. I enjoy the motion controls, and they respond well, but I still prefer to play with a standard Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. The graphics hold up well to the PS4 and Xbox One versions, not quite as good, but still pretty close. One thing this version has that the others do not, is the Amiibo inclusion. Just tap an Amiibo to your Switch/Controller and you'll get a Treasure Chest with something inside. Sometimes it's equipment, other times just crafting supplies. It's a nice addition to the game. If you've already played and beaten the game, there really is not much to come back for, but either way it is still a great addition to the growing Switch library!.
