They don't require battery power, and are instead powered by connecting the included puck to your controller. Though this can draining for your controller over time, it is extremely efficient. The talk back feature which lets you monitors your voice volume is a huge plus; as is the ability to listen to your mobile devices with the included auxiliary cord. BEST BUY
