Victrola Eastwood Signature Record Player - 4 Star

Vinyl albums have always intrigued me due to their beautiful artwork and unique scratchy sound profile. I had a few old Beatles albums in high school (late 90s) that I listened to on a beat up record player. Fast forward many years and I decided to give vinyl another chance. I researched several players but was limited to shelf size. The Victrola Eastwood Signature moved to the top of the list because it fit dimensionally where I wanted to place it and offered Bluetooth connectivity to external speakers. I found an Open Box model at my local Best Buy and purchased it. The only things I found wrong with it are a slightly scratched dust cover and broken clip that holds it. I tested it out with a brand new copy of Starset's Horizons album. Setup was extremely easy - plug in the power adapter, turn it on, move the tone arm into place, and lower the cue lever. The internal speakers sounded good, but I was anxious to test the Bluetooth capabilities with my Nakamichi soundbar. Sadly, I was unable to make the connection even after turning both units off per the instruction manual. The Bluetooth connection from my phone to the player worked but that's not why I purchased it. Finally, I connected the Line Out with RCA cables to my soundbar and was thrilled with the results. There are many things I like about this player - the aforementioned size, Bluetooth, color scheme, ease of use, and sound quality. My only deduction is for the cosmetic damage and faulty Bluetooth.

Plays 50 plus year old Lp vinyls beautifully. Sound quality is great. It connects to my bluetooth speaker for the add volume. The built-in speaker is fine on its own though. Wasn't my first choice but I'm not disappointed in the quality of the product.

Sound quality was the best you could get for a system with built in speakers. This was a replacement from one bought online for only $50 more. Can’t recommend this product enough. You will have less sound quality than if you were to buy better speakers, but for the price vs what you get, I think this may be the best model. Have had for 6 months almost with no issues.

I grew up with my parents listening to records at home. Billy Joel, Frank Sinatra, Christmas music, Journey, etc. I am obsessed with music in my daily life. My family has subs for Spotify, Amazon Music, and YouTube Music, but there is something special about being able to hold your favorite albums. I was looking for a great record player, and this Victrola knocked it out of the park. / Setup / Setup was a breeze, take of the protective wrapping, plug it in, read the little quick start guide, and remember to take off the needle protector. I was a bit worried the first time I went to place a record on it, it seemed like it was not going to fit, but that is just the style. I think it looks great with some of the ends of the record spinning off the player. Connecting a Bluetooth speaker was also simple, but honestly the built-in speaker is plenty loud and clear to fill up our living room. // Sound // Let me preface this by saying that I am not an audiophile so I am sure there are systems you can pay 10x the amount for that would give you clearer sound. That being said, for someone like myself that spends all day listening to music in quality headphones, car, and through a nice soundbar; the sound that is being produced by this little player and the built-in speaker is terrific. All 3 of my sons really like it, and my wife has even started going out and buying some older records she enjoyed. The sound is warm, clear, and has no problem filling our home. We started listening to Christmas music now that we are off for Thanksgiving break, and the Vince Guaraldi Trio – A Charlie Brown Christmas album is beautiful played on here. We’ve all listened to some Garth Brooks albums, some Motown hits, and some Beach Boys, and every genre sounds amazing. A real time traveling experience to my childhood. There is a mode that allows you to use the great speaker built-in to the Victrola as a Bluetooth speaker to stream music from your phone, but I haven’t tried that. I would imagine the sound would be great as well. I did connect the Victrola to another external speaker, but like I said the speaker in the Victrola is great. I don’t think I will be using the external speaker again. /// Conclusion /// There is something nostalgic about playing records. I like that my sons are now getting that same experience I had when I was a kid. I love holding some of my favorite albums or looking at the album art while we listen to it. For anyone looking to get into listening to vinyl this would be a terrific place to start. Setup is simple, sound is rich, and the added features of being able to stream to the built-in speaker or connecting to another external speaker is just bonus. This is an easy recommendation.

Gave this to my son for Christmas and he didn’t immediately hook it up. By the time he tried, it was past the return date. We have researched and tried everything. You can’t hear it unless you use external speakers, which we didnt plan to. I’m at a loss how others are saying the volume is perfect.

Vinyl just gives the right ambiance. There is nothing like sitting in the living room just relaxing and listening to some high-quality music. My youngest (almost 3 now) is entranced with watching the record go around and around. His friend wanted to be a DJ so we closed the top and he still had access to the edge or the record so if you have young ones that like to touch things they aren’t supposed to this doesn’t fully enclose the record which may be important to you. The size is just right for those that aren’t looking for a centerpiece but instead a player that will fit on any side table. Now beside the analog portion of this there are a few bonuses on the technology side. There is Bluetooth in and out. This is where you can miss out on quality if you aren’t careful. Not all Bluetooth is created equal, if you have it right next to where you want to listen privately your best bet is to use the Aux input that is on it. But if not for Bluetooth in your device and app will determine the quality of your music and any hope of getting it to vinyl levels. My wife’s iphone 12 couldn’t take advantage of HD quality Bluetooth but my z fold 3 could, we also needed to use a HD capable music app such as TIDAL or Amazon Music and a HD song. Side Note: An HD recorded song is all about how many samples were taken for each second in order to convert the song that was being recorded into a digital format. The best way to explain it is watching a move in DVD quality versus 4kUHD quality… depending on the content, where you are, and how much you care DVD quality might be good enough, but if you really want to be immersed you want that 4k version. Back to the Bluetooth portion of the review… If you are in an apartment and this is your only speaker then using spotify, yt music, itunes, or whatever other sd music app for normal listening will work just fine, but if you are hoping to get almost as good of quality out of this as with vinyl then you’ll want a pretty new phone (Bluetooth 5.1 support) and an app that has HD music. The Bluetooth out is in the same boat except a little simpler, you will want to make sure your headphones support Bluetooth 5.1. The sound is pretty awesome this way and depending on how good your headset is it might be even better than the built-in speakers, but once again your Bluetooth device is instrumental to the quality that you end up with. Do you need all this to connect, absolutely not, but I guess I just feel like if you are going to go through the trouble to selecting a vinyl putting it on and turning it (vinyl is not a set and forget for the rest of the day) then you’ll want the best sound quality you can so I included how to get it. Overall, I love this device, it is just the right size for us and it has some tech built in that is fun to play with and may even come in handy.

Victrola’s Eastwood vinyl record player is a blast from the past. When I was much younger and before cassettes and CDs, vinyl and RCA Victrolas ruled. I had quite the collection of LPs and 45s. Jump decades forward, and I still have three boxes of LPs with which I couldn’t part. They have been in “storage” for a long time and, thankfully, are still in exceptionally good condition. Now that vinyl has circled back to the fore, I have been wanting a player for my collection. The Eastwood by Victrola was a desirable choice because it combines past (LP player) and present (Bluetooth) technology. As a player, the Eastwood provides a very nice listening experience. Pluses are: *For a modestly priced player, the stereo sound reproduction is surprisingly good. *Magnetic Audio Technica cartridge. *Custom-Tuned speaker enclosure with anti-vibration feature and enhanced bass quality. *3-speed belt-driven turntable (45 adapter is included) *Controls are all clearly displayed. *Bluetooth! Connecting to an external Bluetooth speaker is quick and easy. Instructions for connecting can be found in the manual provided. Disconnecting is also easy once you know how to do it (Not in manual.). Press the BT OUT button, and music returns to the player's speakers. Tip: When pressing the BT OUT button to connect/disconnect, do not hold the button down. That will negate what you are trying to accomplish. *There is an RCA plug (old tech) in the rear of the player, for connecting with non-Bluetooth speakers. On the flip side, there is one thing about the player’s design that is a negative. The dust cover (usually a solid plus) can possibly indirectly or directly damage your LPs, if you are not careful with the cover when loading or unloading. Three edges of the LP are exposed when the cover is down. The front and left side (as you face device) are exposed but safe from damage by the cover. The real exposure potential is at the rear. When the cover is open, its rear clearance relative to the LP is minimal. DO NOT lift the cover all the way with an LP loaded, because it can hit the LP portion at the rear position, which could quite possibly damage it. See the attached pic for clearer understanding. When the cover is in closed position, the LP exposure is minimized to that of the other sides. I really like the Eastwood player and would have loved to give it five stars, but the potential for damage is bothersome. However, because there are enough positives with the Eastwood, I would recommend it, with disclosure, to a friend.

This isn't your great-grandfather's Victrola, that's for sure. This turntable is enhanced with the 21st Century technology of a 3.5mm earphone jack and Bluetooth. You therefore have four options for listening to output from your records: the built-in speaker, your external amplifier/speakers through an RCA line out, earphones or headphones from the 3.5mm jack, and a Bluetooth speaker, headphones, or earbuds. Furthermore, if you want to stream Bluetooth audio from another device like your phone into the Victrola to one of the other three outputs, that is easily accomplished as well, although I am not sure why you would want to do that. I have a few small concerns about this turntable, although none of them are deal-breakers. The first is its small size. On the one hand, compact is good, but this turntable is so small that a 33 LP will hang out over the left edge and back. This means that the plastic cover has cutouts on the left, back, and front edges so that it does not come down on top of the LP if you want to put the cover down. If you compare this in the picture to my vintage Pioneer turntable, you'll see that the cover on the Pioneer comes down completely over the record and also protects the turntable from dust when not in use. I also discovered such a small margin of clearance for the back edge of the VTA-73 lid that the lid has to lean slightly forward, or it will hit the record (see other photo). The spring-loaded hinges for the lid maintain that perfect slant, but if you accidentally lift the lid to 90 degrees, the back edge of the lid will hit an LP on the turntable. Another small concern is that, normally, RCA output from a turntable goes to the phono input of an amplifier, which provides the proper amplification. However, the VTA-73 apparently has a built-in preamp, so you do not want to plug the RCA output into your amplifier's phono input. Instead, run it into an auxiliary jack of your amplifier. Here is another small oddity. Normally, when you ask for one form of output from a device, it shuts off the others. And this is the case when you plug in earphones or ask for Bluetooth output: this will turn off the built-in speaker. But if you use the RCA output into your amplifier, sound continues to come out of the built-in speaker (naturally, at less fidelity than your external system). I'm not sure why you can't turn off the built-in speaker when you are using external output. Other than these small concerns, I am satisfied with the performance of this little turntable. The documentation is excellent. It can play 45s with an adapter as well as 33 and 78 records. All of the features work as advertised. It is lightweight and therefore very portable. The Bluetooth functionality is cool. The fidelity isn't quite as good as the turntables I purchased in the 80s and 90s but is acceptable. I can recommend this product.

The Victrola Eastwood Signature Hybrid Record Player is versatile and user-friendly. It combines classic vinyl with Bluetooth and built-in stereo speakers. Features three speeds: 33 1/3, 45, and 78 RPM, & has clear and crisp sound Performance sound quality plays vinyl records beautifully and connects seamlessly to Bluetooth speakers for enhanced volume. The built-in speakers are great for casual listening, though I prefer connecting external speakers for an even richer sound experience. Simple setup and user-friendly controls.

I’ve always been wanting a Vinyl player for our home. I do still have my CD’s and subscribe to Apple Music, but once in a while, I want to listen to a Vinyl record. I just never pulled the trigger to get one because of our limited space in our town home, I did not want to purchase separate speakers for our home. Setting up was simple, but then we were getting very faint sounds from the speakers. Upon reading the instructions, it states to not have the Record Player anywhere near other electronic devices. I initially had it placed next to our iPads charger, so I moved it across the room to an end table that had the perfect area footprint for the Victrola. Immediately the music started playing really loud and clear. So I ended up getting the Victrola Eastwood Signature Hybrid record player. The built in speaker is what sold me and I wanted to see if it would be sufficient without having to invest in separate speakers. I bought two of my wife’s favorite albums (Ed Sheeran’s Equal and No Doubts Tragic Kingdom). This built in Victrola speakers sound amazing by themselves especially with these songs that we enjoy and love. Like any typical record player, it’s pretty standard set up. You have the option to choose either Phono or BT (Bluetooth) sounds where you can play music from other BT devices from the Victrola. I tried to connect it to a Bt speaker and it was more of a headache to connect with my iPhone. The Victrola changes to the next song pretty seamlessly, although you do have the option to press Forward or Backward. There is also a BT Out option to other speakers. There is also a 3.5mm headphone Jack if you wanted to listen quietly in your home. To the right next to the needle, is the speed gauge where you can play your records at 33, 45 or 78 RPM. Overall, it’s been a joy having a record player in the home and showing my children (ages 12 and 11) how they work and the noticeable sound quality difference to what plays on the iPhone. I’m now going to be hunting for some more LP albums to play on this.

I’ve recently gotten into purchasing, listening to and collecting vinyl records. They say the best way to experience a music album is by listening to it off a vinyl record. It’s so true! I get lost just listening to the music and sitting there watching the record spin. That being said.. I’m still an amateur when it comes to turntables, but I think I know just enough to understand what a good turntable should have. The most important thing that this turntable does not have is a counter weight on the arm. It has this plastic block on the end of it but it hardly weighs anything. The arm is also very lightweight, not sure if its a good or bad thing yet. Problem with it not having the counterweight is that it will be prone to skipping and slight warping sounds when in use.Even though it has a vibration dampening mat, It skipped on me a couple of times when my gf walked by, it also kind of made this weird chopped and screwed effect also lol. She has heavy feet when she walks though, so your mileage may vary lol. I think you could easily solve that problem by putting the turntable on a heavy and sturdy surface though. Perhaps a heavy table or dresser, and away from high traffic areas in your home. Is it a deal breaker? I don’t think so. This turntable has enough good things going for it to make it worth buying in my opinion. It is very lightweight. has a removable dust cover, the built in speaker sounds decent at low to middle volumes. At max volume, I feel like it sounds too tinny, and it kind of hurt my ears. When playing at about 50% volume, everything sounded quite nice to my ears. Treble and Mids are well balanced and it has just enough bass to sound pleasing. I decided to listen to Femia by Purity Ring for starters because it has a nice mix of tones to test a speakers quality and in my opinion it sounded very pleasing.I think the built in speakers sound good enough for casual listening and I will be using the built in speakers to listen to my records but If you aren’t 100% satisfied with them, you can always connect your own speakers with a aux or rca cable or bluetooth. It also has the ability to play music on the built in speakers from your phone if you choose to do that also. Pretty cool! All in All, I think this turntable is an excellent value for anyone just getting started with their record collection. It has plenty of useful features, it is light and easy to move around the house and the speakers sound pleasant. Pros: Lightweight and portable Pretty Good sounding built in speakers Many ways to connect your speakers Very Affordable High quality and Replaceable Audio Technical needle Cons- Could use a counterweight on the arm. Not a deal breaker though

Great little machine! I love the fact that it has built in speakers...makes it easy to move and play. It's pretty, simple, and clean looking. Decent sound as well. I like the bluetooth feature (one of the reasons I chose this model for my wife's Christmas present). I cannot, however, get the bluetooth to connect to my BOSE sound bar. I assume it's because neither device has any sort of selection or option screen...they are both "bottoms" and there's no "top". Other than that, we love it! Johnny Cash never sounded so good!
