Customer Ratings & Reviews

performs as expected of an NVME SSD. it works great and sped up my computer nicely.

So far so good. A quick replacement hard drive after mine crashed. I have been up and running with no issues. The drive is larger than the previous one and is clearly faster than the prior drive. I am definitely pleased so far.

Loving it lots of extra speed from it. lots of storage from it. Most of all love the speed I receive from installing it.

Great ssd use it as a secondary drive for games I need

I really like how fast the read speeds are made everyday multitasking a breeze

This thing is lightning fast. I do like the Samsung software better but this has the same warranty and is faster than the 990

It's the first SSD that I used the first time I build my PC, it's a good brand and the speed is perfect

Worked well, easy to install. Geek squad supplied extra screw to install

Got it before the price hike. But no complaints. Fast read speeds. Have used it from build 1 to my current one.

1tb of ssd what’s to say had to take out my gpu to install recomend getting a nvme adapter so you can clone it through usb port then install if your putting it in the slot your current ssd is in

I need this ssd for my pc next i put 2 in my buddys pc so worth the price I recommend this one

Came in the mail bent and out of the packaging major disappointment

The WD_BLACK SN7100 1TB Internal SSD is a high-performance NVMe drive designed to deliver fast read and write speeds, primarily targeting gamers, content creators, and power users looking to maximize their system's speed. Here's an honest, in-depth review based on real-world usage: Pros: 1. Speed Performance (PCIe Gen 4.0) Blazing Fast Speeds: With PCIe Gen 4.0, the WD_BLACK SN7100 offers excellent read and write speeds, reaching up to 7,000 MB/s read and 5,300 MB/s write speeds (depending on system setup). This is particularly useful for gaming, video editing, and any task that requires quick data transfer. Low Latency: The low latency associated with this SSD makes it great for faster boot times and quick load times for applications and games. 2. High Durability and Reliability Western Digital Reliability: WD is known for solid, reliable storage, and the SN7100 follows that tradition. It comes with 3D NAND technology that enhances endurance and longevity. 5-Year Warranty: The 5-year warranty offers peace of mind for long-term usage, something you don’t always get with cheaper options. 3. Gaming-Focused Optimized for Gaming: The WD_BLACK series has been specifically optimized for gamers, ensuring quick load times, fast read/write for larger game files, and high performance in both single-player and online multiplayer settings. Play More, Wait Less: The drive significantly reduces the load times for modern games, especially those that are large (think 100GB+ files), enhancing the overall gaming experience. 4. Thermal Management Heat Management: It includes a thermal throttling feature that helps keep the SSD cool under heavy use, ensuring consistent performance without overheating. Though, you may want to add additional cooling in high-performance systems, especially in small cases. 5. Price-to-Performance Ratio Competitive Pricing: While it’s not the cheapest NVMe drive on the market, the SN7100 strikes a balance between cost and performance. If you’re looking for PCIe Gen 4.0 speeds but don’t want to pay the premium of high-end brands like Samsung’s 980 Pro or Seagate’s FireCuda, this is a solid option. Cons: 1. Not the Fastest in Its Class Speed vs. Competition: While the SN7100 offers excellent speeds, it's not the absolute fastest PCIe Gen 4.0 SSD out there. High-end competitors (like the Samsung 980 Pro or Corsair MP600 Pro XT) can hit even higher read/write speeds (up to 7,500 MB/s+). The SN7100 is fast, but if you're after the top-tier speed, you may want to consider a more premium model. Real-World Impact: For most users, this slight difference in speed won’t be noticeable unless you're pushing the drive in highly intensive applications like 4K video editing or extremely fast game load times. 2. No Heatsink Included No Built-in Cooling: While it has thermal throttling protection, the SN7100 doesn't come with a built-in heatsink, which could be an issue if you're using it in a system that generates a lot of heat. You’ll need to add an aftermarket heatsink if you're planning on using it in a hot, high-performance system, particularly in compact cases with poor airflow. 3. Slightly Higher Write Endurance Write Endurance is Good, But Not Stellar: The TBW (Total Bytes Written) rating for the 1TB version is around 600 TBW, which is good, but it’s not the highest in the industry. If you're writing massive amounts of data every day, especially in workloads like video editing, you might want to look for a drive with a higher endurance rating. For the average user, though, this should be more than sufficient. 4. Software Support WD SSD Dashboard: The WD_BLACK SN7100 works with WD's SSD Dashboard software, which offers some useful features, such as firmware updates and health monitoring. However, some users find the software less polished or intuitive compared to software from other brands (like Samsung’s Magician or Crucial’s Storage Executive). 5. Limited Availability in Some Regions Stock Issues: In certain regions, the WD_BLACK SN7100 might not be as readily available as other brands. While WD is a popular name, there might be some stock limitations or slower restocks depending on the market. Conclusion: The WD_BLACK SN7100 1TB NVMe SSD offers solid PCIe Gen 4.0 performance at a competitive price point. It’s a great choice for gamers and general power users who want fast speeds without breaking the bank, and it brings the reliability that Western Digital is known for. However, if you're seeking the absolute fastest speeds or top-tier endurance for heavy content creation workloads, it might be worth looking at more premium options. Also, keep in mind the potential need for extra cooling in higher-performance setups. For most users, though, this is an excellent SSD for both gaming and productivity tasks at a reasonable price.

The WD Black series of internal and external SSD's have been amazing for me thus far. The amount of storage you get for the price, plus the performance (bar none). I plan on upgrading to bigger storages of WD Black SSD's in the near future!

I recently upgraded to the WD Black SN7100 1TB NVMe SSD, and the performance boost has been incredible. Installation was quick and straightforward, and the drive was immediately recognized without any issues. The speed difference is noticeable right away—boot times are almost instant, and large applications load significantly faster. File transfers are smooth, and overall system responsiveness feels much more snappy. For anyone looking to upgrade to a Gen 4 x4 NVMe drive, this model delivers excellent performance and reliability. It runs cool, stays consistent under heavy workloads, and offers great value for the level of speed and storage you get. Highly recommended for gaming, productivity, or simply giving your computer a major performance upgrade.

Worked exactly as expected—fast, reliable, and no surprises. The packaging was secure and professional, ensuring the drive arrived in perfect condition. Installation was smooth, and performance has been excellent so far. Great product from WD!

As a gamer, I can’t emphasize enough how important storage has become with games reaching massive sizes. This SSD has truly transformed my setup, offering plenty of room for my ever-growing collection. When you pair it with the right processor, RAM, and graphics card, the performance is outstanding—it’s truly a match made in gamer heaven! No more stressing about uninstalling older games to make space for new releases. This SSD is an absolute must-have for anyone looking to enhance their gaming experience!

You can't go wrong with a WD Black M.2 drive. These drives are some of the fastest on the market. They come with a 5 year warranty, but you'll never use it. I build computers for a living, and I have never had a WD Black drive fail in under 5 years. I have more then a few that have way surpassed the five year mark. These are some of the fastest, most stable, and reasonably priced M.2 drives on the market.

Just purchased tis touse as a second drive in my PC. Instalation was quite simple, and initializing the disk in windows brought it straight to life. Excellent read and write speeds and a massive TBW rating makes for a reliable and long lasting boot disk or storage media where speed cannot be compromised.

Super snappy quick storage. It works. It hold my data, transfers it insanely quick. Loads games in the blink of an eye. Can't go wrong,
