Seagate is better if you have a Mac
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Tried to install it on a recent Macbook Air, went to site for directions and then had to click another link to get the Mac directions, would not partition/format the drive for unknown reasons, would not "enable journaling" and finally would not erase the drive. Returned it to the store which was super easy, very helpful staff, got a Seagate Backup Plus Slim which worked fine. Seagate is the way to go.

drive constantly falls offline

I was recently testing it using approved WD utilities, and it locked the drive!! Now I have to backup the entire drive and reformat it... I'm VERY disappointed.

Months go by, I try to access the data - the disk cannot be recognized by any computer. Boo. I trusted this device, my fault. Do not make my same mistake, use a cloud solution to store your digital life.
