I bought this HD for my security camera system after first trying a Seagate, which failed within one week. So far, so good. I'm running it in a Vantec Nexstar JX enclosure and it is doing a great job of handling the stream from 7 high def cameras

I needed a bigger drive for my NVR. WD Purple is a tried-and-true drive. Best Buy had it in stock (delivered via FedEx), and the price was better than Amazon's, which also had a 2-week delivery backlog.

It’s a Western Digital hard drive. It works, and that’s it. Set it and forget it; there is no other option besides the purple one for surveillance systems.

I have a Reolink NVR and installed a 8tb WD Purple hard drive and it failed me within a few days. I ended up ordering a seagate and so far it’s been great

They shipped this device like amazon ships things that might not get broken. Zero packaging inside of the box to hold the drive in place. Sure the box has its own packaging but still it is a very sensitive piece. Woupd not purchase this again as it could lead to early failure.
