The set up was easy and it worked great. Then the power went out on my internet modem and I couldn’t get it to setup afterwards. Maybe if I had more patience I could have fallen in love with this thing again.

You can try to relocate the Wemo Mini close to the router and use a different smartphone for isolation. Also, make sure that you have the latest version of the Wemo app installed.
