    An OK Dryer

I have now had my new Whirlpool dryer for six weeks, and it gets used probably twice a week. I like the 7.0 CF size of the drum in this dryer. Especially the queen size sheets tumble more freely than they did in my former dryer with a smaller drum. Because the drum is white and the illumination is better than in the old dryer, it is easier to see inside -- especially to see dark socks. For all the supposed benefits of the sensor determining when the clothes are dry, the dryer often overdries the clothes. After years of doing wash, I think I know approximately how long it takes to dry different kinds of items. I have been experimenting by setting a kitchen timer when I turn on the dryer, and then I check when the kitchen timer goes off. Generally the dryer is still on. Opening the door and feeling the hot items inside, I can tell they are dry, even though the timer on the dryer indicates the machine will run for another 10-12 minutes. I have called Whirlpool Customer Service to ask if I am following directions correctly, and I am. But the dryer usually runs longer than it needs to run. If the dryer does operate for the full length of the cycle, there is a chime that sounds to indicate the machine is shutting off. The chime is useless. Its volume cannot be adjusted to a level making it audible two rooms away. In order to open the dryer door, someone puts his fingertips behind a latch handle flush with the door and pulls forward. The angled space behind the handle is less than one inch deep, making a tight squeeze for a man with thick fingers or a woman with long fingernails. A protruding handle through which someone could fit two or three fingers and get a good grip would be far easier to operate. Finally, shoppers who are considering this dryer should be aware that the top is not horizontal, but slopes forward. Where the rear of the top meets the control panel, it is an inch and a quarter higher than at the front edge. The result is that anything smooth and lightweight which is set down on the top can slide forward and drop to the floor, including freshly folded laundry items. I question how well some features of this model dryer were thought through before the appliance was put on the market.

I bought this dryer (with matching washer) for my new house, single person use. I was specifically looking for something efficient and capable of handling large loads/items easily. This unit met all my goals. I had actually underestimated the size of the dryer drum and have yet to fill it. It is great for my large comforters that would barely fit in my old dryer and came out wet or required me to go to a laundromat, where the dryers don't dry anything. The size will come in handy when I have family over for holidays, as that would always tax the older washer and dryer. There are very many settings for drying, but they are fairly intuitive and explained in the manual. I set the dryness level one setting above default and the dryer does the rest. No more damp clothes or having to put clothes back in for another 15 minutes of drying. When the dryer says they are dry, they are dry. I think that if you're willing to look beyond the less expensive budget models, you do get your money's worth from this dryer. Great for single individuals and families.

We bought this dryer together with the matching washer. It works fine so far. I like that it can stop on its own when the clothes are dry. We used to waste so much energy with the old dryer because we did not have the time to constantly check if the clothes were already dry and stop it. The only issue that I have experienced with this dryer is the occasional power failure. I have used the dryer for two months now, and power failure has happened twice. The first time I thought the dryer was broken. The screen was dead, no indicators at all, the light inside the dryer was out. I tried resetting it by pulling the power cord and plugging it back in, but it did not work. I called Whirlpool support immediately, and they told me to turn off the circuit breaker, wait for at least 5 minutes, and turn the circuit breaker back on. I did those steps and the indicator lights came back to the screen. This procedure had reset the dryer. It happened again the other day, and I did the same reset routine. I really hope that this is not a serious issue with the dryer. However, it is annoying. Especially, since our circuit breakers are in the garage and not very conveniently located. In terms of performance, I think the dryer works great. I hope it will last.

Just as I was getting used to, but really annoyed by drying loads of towels for three cycles, we purchased this dryer to replace that one. It was a litle more money than we were wanting to spend but ever since it's been installed it's opened our eyes to what we've been missing out on. With a HUGE drum, this dryer can dry even the largest loads, and to top it all off, it automatically adjusts drying based on your settings. We're still figuring them out but what used to take us 3 hours on towels, now takes 50 minutes. It's quieter than our old one and stylish. Totally recommend, worth the money.

Dryer was on special so I was somewhat leary if it would work well enough. I was pleased with the ratings I reviewed so I ordered it. I have had it for a little under 2 months. This is the first electronic/digital dryer I've owned and it is taking a bit for me to get used to. I did not know what to expect on how this type of machine works. The top has a slight curve to it so you cannot leave anything on top unless you want to find it on the floor; shattered and leaked out. That's just something I needed to get used to. There are many settings to choose from, which is nice but sometimes difficult to decide which setting to use. I would recommend with some caution only because I do not have anything to compare it to.

We had our family dryer go to the happy hunting grounds on the weekend and I am able to fix minor issues (but don't guarantee my work). When I opened it, I found a broken wheel. This pushed me to start shopping for a new / scratch and dent model. Our travels took us to Best buy in Warwick RI and met the two ladies that run and sell appliances. They took us under wing and got us a great deal on a open box Whirlpool Cabrio 7.0 Cu. Ft. 24-Cycle Electric Dryer. I saved a ton of money and had my new dryer wrapped and in my car, within a total store time of 30 minutes from the time we stepped foot in the store to driving back home. Thanks for the super service ladies!!

Found this to be a very reliable and top performing dryer. It has a large drum inside to hold plenty of damp clothes straight from the washer. We found that it takes less time to dry the clothes than our previous Cabrio dryer. One great feature (called Wrinkle Shield) is that after the initial drying cycle is finished and the chime sounds (vice a buzzer) it won't let the clothes sit for too long before it starts up again for a short tumbling cycle to keep the clothes fluffed up to prevent wrinkles. It can do this for up to an additional 150 minutes of intermittent tumble cycles for those who forget to check the dryer status or don't hear the chime for whatever reason. All in all a great purchase for our laundry needs.

This was the first appliance I've every bought especially brand new and didn't realize how expensive they are. We looked 2 days online and then went to the stores looking and ended up back here at the first place we looked at in person. Everyone was awesome at the store. The main thing that I love about this product is all the different settings that it has. I work in the medical profession and wear scrubs everyday, so with that I wash and dry them separately from all other clothes. It made it so easy to get them dry in the least amount of time and the wrinkle guard it has is great. If and when our washer goes out we will get the matching washer!!

I've had this dryer for about 4 months, I grow more and more frustrated with each load. It does not dry near as well as the previous Cabrio I owned. A standard load of laundry takes double the amount of time to complete..The "Advanced Moisture Sensing" is a joke, clothes are still very damp when the dryer "thinks" clothes are dry, trying to dry towels on with this setting is completely ridiculous. I have to use the timer setting with each load if I want to be sure that the clothes will actually be dry at the end of an hour and a half cycle. I have two loads washed to each one dried. New is not always better...

Unfortunately, I didn't notice that the hinges on the dryer are on the wrong side so the washer had to be located further away from the sink than I'd like. Also, I don't like the lint filter being on the top of the dryer and the top of both the washer and dryer are curved making most things slide right off. At times I need to put clothes in the dryer to get the dog hair off but this dryer turns itself OFF because the clothes are dry. I know they're dry, I just need to shake off some dog hair!

This has been GREAT so far, but it may cause problems with older or neglected duct work! Make sure to use ONLY metal ducting (no plastic) and it would be a good idea to clean your ducts before installation. The dryer would run for 5 minutes and shutdown, this is because the sensors are suggesting there is a clogged lint screen. There were also puddles forming near the vent openings. After cleaning the ENTIRE length of the ducts and repairing the leaks, we're doing GREAT!

Dryer dries fine and is quiet. I really like that the last settings stay programmed when you turn the dryer off. Would have rated higher except for the fact that you must turn the dryer off to start another load. Wish it just allowed you to accept the settings and press start again. Also, the top is a bit sloped rather then completely flat. If you leave items that don't have a lot of friction on the top, the dryer"s vibration could cause them to fall on the floor. Lastly, the pleasant tone that signals when a load is done could be louder. There is an adjustment that says you can make it louder but it just changes the tone.

I purchased this dryer to replace our Kenmore Elite dryer that stopped working due to a problem in the control board. We needed a dryer fast, and got a great deal on this one!!! It is easy to use and does a terrific job in drying our clothes. It is cavernous and can dry large loads including our king size comforter. The settings are very flexible with all types of laundry. The only negative, and I might be "knit-picking"; is that the door opening is lower than my old dryer causing one to bend lower to load and unload the clothes.

we purchased this as part of a washer/dryer set when our existing machines either failed or had seen better days. Likes: the inside of the dryer is huge; it dries heavy loads easily; there are a big variety of settings so you can easily tailor the cycle to your needs; lint catcher is outside the machine, easier to clean; pretty quiet. Dislikes: not sure how to disable the electronic tune that plays every time you turn it on or off; electronic controls might feel daunting to some. For the price, which was quite reasonable considering some of the alternatives, it's great.

We went in looking at another unit as our dryer had just gone south, and while the online inventory was incorrect, we walked to the open box stuff and found this dryer for about 60% off! The capacity is larger than we needed but the upside to that is loads dry MUCH faster and more efficiently, cutting down on drying time. The unit is super quiet, with the exception of the musical times when starting or at the end of cycle, which can be turned off. The features are nice and we've noticed a difference in the softness of our clothes compared to the 15 year old unit we had.

This dryer has a mind of its own. In order to get my low-heat permanent press things dry, I have to use the timed dry cycle and guess. I don't like the top lint trap--gets dust all over when I remove it. The wrinkle-free feature isn't a continuous tumble--it just restarts every ten minutes and revolves once or twice. A positive is that the exterior style is very nice. I miss my old boring model that let me control the settings and did a better job. I wish someone had posted an honest review before I bought it.

    END OF CYCLE BEEP INAUDIBLE

    Posted
    Ronbo

Great dryer, but unless you're standing RIGHT IN FRONT of the machine, you WON'T hear the "end of cycle" beep. It supposedly has 3 levels of intensification, but they really all sound the same, a very mild beep. I guess that I am just used to my old Whirlpool that had a very loud buzzer that you could hear clear across the house. I tried using a kitchen timer, and synchronizing it to the timed display of the dryer, but for some reason, the dryer always finishes early. This is but a minor annoyance, but I just wanted to mention it to potential customers.

At first glance this machine looked great. But when you load it with wet clothes, you'd expect it to dry. But it doesn't. Maybe it's over loaded with clothes? But why this model? Other brands dry just as they should. I have to spend hours just to make sure my clothes are dry. Even the automatic feature doesn't work. Goes for like 2 minutes and claims the clothes are dry. Also the tub has "cosmetic issues" where the tub turnes blue!!! Best Buy says it's normal. Really? The only dryer that turnes blue is this one.

Purchased the item when it was on sale and it's definitely a must have. There's one model that's newer than this, but the only difference is that there are outlines around some of the buttons so you know exactly where to touch. I purchased the washer as well and the two pair perfectly, although the dryer is smaller than its counterpart. I didn't see the buttons as a huge upgrade so I opted for this model instead and I've had no disappointments.

Bought this dryer as a replacement for one that required running 2-3 cycles to dry clothes so anything was an improvement haha. But I have to say I’m very impressed by this dryers performance! Only complaint is my husbands frc work jeans the pockets always come out damp (not other jeans just these ones). So I always run that load for an extra 30 mins timed cycle I guess the dryness sensor doesn’t catch it on his bulky jeans
