Router showed very unstable intenet conection.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Router would suddenly disconnect and reconnect by itself on a daily basis since purchase just a little over a week ago. Had to change the unit at best buy and still got the same result. Thought this was a comcast line issue so had set an appointment for a technician to check everything. When technician came, he refused to do a troubleshooting because during that time, the internet reconnected by itself. So he rescheduled another visit to time during the internet disconnection which, for all all intents and purposes, cannot be guaranteed. Will be returning unit to best buy today and close my comcast account for good. Will transfer to another ISP provider.

seems to work great so far
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the only option to use with Comcast and a landline telephone service. It would be nice if there were more options available. So far, it seems to be working fine. I wish the router was a little stronger.

Why not own?!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the exact modem that Comcast uses and charges $10 monthly for. Since I signed up for a 2 year contract, it was better to own my own modem. Best Buy price matches as well if you can find it less expensive online. The best of all worlds.

Does what you need done
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The all-in-one router and telephony adapter is pretty much what you need to purchase if you are receiving telephone svc through Comcast. It is a bit large and clunky but does the job. Not hard to set-up.

Gets the job done!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using this modem/router since Jul and has been working well ever since. I don't use the router feature as I already have a router, but using it for a house phone has been great.

Disappointed!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My goal in purchasing this modem was to accrue long-term savings by avoiding Comcast's $10.00 monthly rental fee. In the end convenience and quality of service outweighed the financial savings. I expected setup would be a breeze; it wasn't! The physical installation was easy, directions were simple to follow. The first problem came with the activation process. Simply put, even though I followed directions explicitly the modem would not activate. I contacted Xfinity Tech Support. The technician with whom I spoke was knowledgeable, polite, and obviously interested in helping me to find a solution. Even though it took a very long time we were able to get internet services activated. That is when more problems began to appear. In spite of the fact that the Best Buy web site describes this modem as having "dual band technology" it turns out that the only option for wi-fi is 2.4 GHz. My previous modem provided both 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz. I had just paid $200.00 for a less capable product. Strike 1! When I connected to the internet via an ethernet cable I got lightning fast speeds, but connecting via wi-fi provided speeds much lower than I had previously experienced. Strike 2! Then came Strike 3! In spite of the valiant efforts of two Comcast technicians we were never able to get phone service up and running. Three strikes and this modem is out!

Don't waste your money!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this modem and had it for two months and it worked just fine. All of a sudden the wifi stopped working. Best Buy's return policy on modems is 14 days so I was out $200.00. I went back to paying the $10 monthly rental modem fee for Comcast's newest modem, the XB3. Computer is so much faster and I have no wifi issues. I know if something goes wrong with it I can exchange it for another one for free and if technology changes I'll get the latest and greatest for free (of course not really free since I'm paying the monthly rental modem fee). BUT...peace of mind goes a long ways.

Just purchased! Major hang up
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hello all, Loyal Best Buy guy and I'll tell you first hand I did a lot of reading up on this all in one gateway. You are stuck with this if you have triple play. Netgear has one coming out late March that is supposed to be great. Read the reviews about "bridging" the router part and you must do this. I did several tests with the gateway all in one. We have about 10 items on wifi and I get that slows things down. Duh right? However, we are PAYING for 200 mbps from Comcast and getting wifi tests at 10, 15, 20 is unacceptable in my view. I bridged and bought a netgear 6220 and my WIFI speeds are now at 150, 175, 160, 200 plus. AND video gamers Call of Duty was lame with the gateway. Much smoother and no glitches with bridged router. whether you rent their awful equipment or own the xfinity gateway like us, budget another $ 100 on top of that for a new router. We were pulling our hair out for a week and all of our different tabs/phones printers now run fast! I'm not going to "recommend" to a friend as if it was up to me, I'd ditch the phone part of comcast and just get a combo router modem and use my cell phone. But you know happy wife happy life

Slow connection
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So yes, you will be connected at all times but the speed is so slow. Can't even watch a YouTube video in 1080. Gaming is a nightmare or uploading anything. Would not recommend.

READ
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Please avoid using this item it doesn't work. Unless you need this for your landline phone this router is outdated. Using the xfinity gateway access point will give you weak connection and a low amount of device connectivity. If needed range extenders are recommended.

DON'T BUY THIS! SERIOUSLY
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Listen, I'm going to save you a lot of time and heartache, do not buy this modem. It does not work well with regards to sending signals to wireless devices, it only has one channel instead of the rental modem from Comcast which as two, it is also always at least one generation behind the Comcast rental modem. I bought this beast for $199 thinking that because it cost a lot it would be a great modem. I was getting upload speeds of 5 instead of the 45 I get now on my laptop. My boyfriend was totally unable to even run a speed test in the basement with this modem. This is after 8 years of having Verizon and having no problems in the basement. Once we went back to Comcast and picked up the rental modem....my speed more than doubled. So don't waste time like I did with repeated calls and chats to Comcast, THE PROBLEM IS THE MODEM.

Not a great product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wouldn't recommend this product unless you have to have voice services. There are so many options on the modem that doesn't work and the firmware is extremely buggy. It has an option for DDNS, but it doesn't work. It even says when you click on it "This page not supported yet". That's been the same message on this modem for years and it probably won't change anytime soon if at all.

No Battery!!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The modem came without a battery!!! I called & was told I would have to take it back to a store!!! I asked why they could not send me the battery?? They refused to do it the simple way!!! Last purchase with Best Buy online!!! If I took this back I would have been without a land line!!! How unfair!!!!

took a long time to understand
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Took a long time to understand how it works. I had the WD pocketbooks for years and this one is to consolidate all of them into one unit. But i didnt find it as intuitive as the pocketbooks.

Missing info
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had to drive farther than my local Best Buy store to get this unit. I opened the box and read the installation info. And guess what. You HAVE TO HAVE A COMCAST ACCOUNT!! I didn't see on this site I needed the account, it may be stated on the box but since I bought this online and picked up at the store a sticker the store put on the box may be covering it up. Don't buy this unit if you don't have a Comcast account.
