Not a bad product but it is old
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had no problems setting this up. However, I already have a router and network going so I wanted to turn the wifi off. This router does not have that options like newer ones do. I was able to set it to not broadcast the wifi. I also noticed that it has only 2.4 mghz band not dual band with 5.o mghz. It is slower throughput than the modem I replaced. I got this one because I added phone service. Rather disappointed that Best Buy would be selling outdated products.

Pay the $10, Keep your comcast rental
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works fine other than the wifi is garbage, called the product tech guy, he was very helpful, the settings, signal and connections were all good, wifi still sucked, plugged in my old belcon router, wifi works fine with that but still not as good as the comcast rental. So if if don't mind watching the working spinning circle in the middle of your screen this modem is for you.

phone modem did not work
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The ARRIS TG862G/CT “Phone modem” activation section in this model was broken. I had to get an appointment with a Comcast Technician twice to find that out and it had to be replaced with a Comcast rental unit. I would not recommend getting this model TG862G/CT unless you have the time to deal with the Best Buy return policy and the Comcast service technician time to repair. Comcast treats the ARRIS TG862G/CT modem as Customer Owned and will not provide compensation for its failure even though they recommend it as a customer owned alternative to their rental modem.

slower than the rental and phone did not work
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this to replace the rental. First, I couldn't get my land line to work. I personally reset the modem nothing. Called Comcast and they tried remotely to reset and the Tel 1 light flashed briefly then nothing. Second, speed tested the modem and it was much slower than the rental 30 mbps vs 80 mbps on dowmload and 3 mbps vs 6mbps on upload speed. I switched out and went back to the Comcast Ariss rented modem and all works great now. I need another solution. Comcast does not sell their rental modems and you can't get them anywhere else. Very frustrating....

Junk!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought only because it was the only setup that had the phone jack, go figure. Was a pain to deal with Comcast, this piece of junk kept resetting daily, didn't matter if you were in the middle of something, kept saying no connection even if the lights were all on. Don't waste your time with this, save urself the headache. Took it back a little over a month after getting it, got rid of phone line, went back to previous setup and happy I got the warranty so I could take it back with no hassle. If I could give it no stars I would

Warning: this gateway is different than the rental
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to end the gateway rental charge from Comcast. But even though it "looks" the same, it isn't...it's physically smaller, and the GUI doesn't include a setting for bridge mode. So I can't use my wireless/router in combination with this. Wifi speed went from 120 mbps to 7 mbps. Comcast won't support it, if something isn't right, they won't do anything. Probably fixable, but Arris support is zero. Had to return it and continue renting.

Died after 18 months

Terrible
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had chose this modem because I have the triple bundle thru Comcast and this is only modem that has a phone jack. This is junk! I threw the box away so I am stuck with it. All my tv's are smart tvs so I need my internet to work all over my house but it doesn't.$200 down the strain! Never ever again!

Worst Router Ever!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sorry but DON'T buy this, comcast gives them to you for your Internet service and it's HORRIBLE. My TV is 5 feet away, yes 5 Feet if that, and Netflix cannot stay connected all the time, it is consistently dropping. This thing is the Worst Ever...

Impossibly slow connection
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I took a chance with this, as my house is only 1500 SF. I thought the range wouldn't be a problem, but the connection is so incredibly slow I can't do anything online. Will sadly have to go back to Comcast and rent a new modem.
