I haven't tried the fingerprint without the protector, so this is just my assumption.

It was hard to get on by myself I had to Get help from a Best Buy employee. Was on it stayed on in my phone continues to look brand new.

My first screen protector lasted three years and took a beating. Bad BB installs? Maybe, but the adhesive always peels off in the corners. Unfortunate experience since I loved my original protector.
