    I've had my Zmodo for about a year and a half. The only trouble I ever have with it is when my cable internet goes out - sometimes I have to go thru many steps to get it back up and running. Not camera's fault, cables fault. I went to N Ireland this summer and as long as I was on Wi-Fi I could use my Zmodo app on my phone to talk to my husband in the states to tell him to put his laptop camera on so we could video chat. (Seeing how there was a 5 hour time difference I like that my app alerts me when the camera sees movement - it meant hubby was home!) I love, love, love my Zmodo camera! Wish they made one for outdoors - I don't like the doorbell one, I want a regular camera like the one I have in the house. I'd say I gotta good buy with this one!

    I have a security system but the cameras do not have sound. That's why I purchased these zmode cameras and they are wonderful!!! I have one at my door where I can see who is out there and also speak with them! I have a couple of these cameras and I'm so impressed by them and the companies customer service and support I am purchasing more!!

    2 way audio? More like 1 way only

    The only reason for 3 stars is because it advertises as two way audio capable. I own 3. They have AMAZING quick lag free HD video and they do broadcast sound equally well, but when it comes to talking to thru the camera you cannot be heard. If it only advertised as HD, Configuration Free, listen capabilities, I woukd give it 6 STARTS because at that price it performs better than $150 cameras.

    I had problems getting customer support when my camera went offline and no way of knowing how to fix this issue. The phone had a 45 minute wait time and another 55 minute wait time the second call a day later, and I needed this up and running again before i went out of town, and couldn't get through for support. So I basically paid 40.00 for a camera that was useless to me. its only been 5 hours since I sent for email support, and chat was not working.

    Purple hue

    The camera was just ok for what I needed it for. I purchased it in May, it is now the beginning of July. The night vision isn't very good but for the price, it was fine. The problem occurred when we had a power outage during a storm. When the power came back on the daytime video has a purple hue to it, the night vision remained the same. I unplugged it, used another outlet, I deleted app, installed again but it isn't changing. If you have problems with power outages, I would not recommend.

    This little camera is AMAZING for the price. The picture quality is great and the fact that it has 2way communication is a game changer! For less than $40 you couldn't ask for a better camera. We are definitely buying more!!!

    I am exceedingly disappointed and I'll aspects of service from this company. I would give them zero Stars if I was able to. The customer service is deplorable at best when you're able to reach them. The supposed 24/7 online chat is absolutely useless as far as I'm concerned, I've had multiple issues with them not responding at all and when they do respond it is usually very delayed. I don't feel that the technicians are helpful and troubleshooting the equipment. The most upsetting thing to me is a tie for awful customer service, sub par equipment, and a hidden agenda in the terms and conditions. After a particularly horrible experience I bought these cameras hoping to add a little security in my home. I've had multiple issues the entire time, the most distressing of these being that the cameras will just disconnect from being online for no apparent reason, and even when they are online they miss quite a bit of activity that is perfectly in range. Since I was unaware of these problems, I signed up for the one year cloud service. After the problems began to arise and I was getting very little help from customer service, I attempted to cancel my contract asking for a prorated refund for the time I have not used. I spoke with managers three levels up for my initial call, and they became progressively more rude and disrespectful. The last person I spoke with told me that I agreed in the terms of service to a one-year contract and there was no way I could get out of this, and no way I could obtain any refund for time unused. When I asked to speak with her manager, she became extremely indignant telling me there is no one above her. Now I'm stuck with a useless product for another six months. I think that any company confident in their product and services would not hide these in the terms of conditions, which I admittedly did not read in full detail, and not offer any way out after multiple calls and complaints. I have worked in customer service for many years, and would be ashamed to have my name associated anywhere near this company. I suppose this is a lesson learned, I will now pay more attention to the terms and services that I agree to prior to signing. I would not recommend this product or company. I am much happier with the replacement cameras from SimpliSafe, who is extremely easy to reach and also very polite and easy to work with for the very minor issues I have had.

      There could be more than one reason you're having trouble connecting to your network. Our tech support staff is available Monday through Friday from 8am-8pm CST. They would be happy to help you over the phone get the camera connected. If for some reason the fault lie with the product, it is under warranty and we can replace it for you.

    Based on the reviews I wasn't expecting much out of this WiFi camera but wanted a simple no frills camera with "fair" video and easy to use. After spending hours working with Zmodo support getting it working, they gave up but I figured it out myself. Should be easier. The video quality, when well lit is ok but any darkness and it simply poor poor quality. If you want a usable camera, then spend a few extra dollars and get something you know will work well.

      I'm sorry that you had trouble setting up the camera and our support wasn't able to identify the issue. The most common issue is that there is a typo when entering the SSID (network name) or WiFi password. These credentials are case sensitive and must be entered as they appear on your phone's WiFi settings menu. The second common issue is that the camera is compatible with 2.4GHz networks, and if your router broadcasts a 2.4GHz and 5GHz network, you have to make sure that your phone is connected to the correct network. Regarding the poor night vision, could you tell if the IR lights would come on in dark lighting? If not, the camera may be defective and we can replace it under the warranty. If the IR lights are turning on, try adjusting the angle of the camera slightly so the IR lights have something to bounce off of. This can help the camera create a better nighttime image. We are listening to our customers, and we appreciate your feedback regarding the setup process.

    What a pain in the butt this turned out to be. Never could get it to connect with my internet... had to end up returning it. Such a shame. Just spend a little more for a device that will actually work.

    The physical camera seems fine. However the app constantly crashing is not okay and there doesn't seem to be any access to the camera without it. Cannot view the camera from a PC either since there doesn't seem to be a windows version of the terrible app. The camera is useless without it.

      Thank you for your feedback. The mobile app is required to view the cameras. We are always releasing update to improve the performance of our app. Please make sure you have the latest version. You can view the cameras from a computer through any web browser that supports Flash. Go to user.zmodo.com and enter the same login credentials that you use in the mobile app. You will be able to view the live video of your cameras there. If you continue to have issues with the app crashing, please call our support team at 217-903-5037 from Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Central time.

    I wanted a simple camera to watch my pets

    I just wanted a simple camera to watch my pets. I cannot connect it to my WiFi. And when I got an account with zmodo, I received an email I a different language. After researching the problem, it will be easier to take it back than try the complicated ways to fix it. Definitely not for a beginner like me.

    Monthly subscription to use basic features

    We need to have monthly subscription to use basic features like smart alert, video playback etc. No internal memory to keep or review shots/videos! No wonder camera are cheap cuz it will end up being way more expensive than others.

      Dear Alex, the camera has free 12 hour saving for motion clips, and you do not need to subscribe to use the functions mentioned. Best, Customer Care

    DID NOT WORK / BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE

    Camera would not sync after multiple attempts. Called Tech Support and was on hold for MORE THAN 90 MINUTES. After troubleshooting with the Technician, he told me the camera was defective.... NEVER AGAIN.

    Did not pair with my Wi-Fi. All that was in the instruction happened (referring to light indicators) but unsuccessful. I did not call customer service. I don't think it will be worth it.
