Better than I expected
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThis watch replaced my Gear S model. I did not purchase the Gear S2 because it was too small and had some connectivity issues when I tested it. So far the S3 has performed flawlessly. It's not as bulky as the S model so I can easily access it from under my jacket now that it's getting chilly. The display is easy to read from any angle and there are tons of options for a watch face design to choose from (many of them are free). The pre loaded watch designs are good enough for any kind of everyday use. Haven't tested the waterproof capabilities yet, but I haven't had to take it off while washing stuff around the house or work. The watchbands that come with it are a little bit stiff and could be uncomfortable depending on how you wear them, but I found that Amazon carries all kinds of watchbands for it and I got a couple that feel super comfortable. The fact that this watch can take a regular band makes your comfort/style choices endless. Battery life is improved from my S model. I have it on the "Always on" display and have it set to give me all kinds of alerts and notifications throughout the day, after 10 hours of use I still have about 75% battery left. I always charge my phone and watch at night when I go to sleep so I don't know if it would be able to hold a charge for 2 days. The interface is easy to learn and you can master it in a few hours, the rotating bezel makes things easy. Typing on a small screen could be challenging; however, you have the little dictation icon on it so you can actually speak what you want to type. Voice recognition works great, I haven't had to re-dictate yet. The GPS is very accurate so you could use any program that would involve knowing your exact location, like Uber or Navigation. It also means that it tracks your distance and steps better than other wearables. Overall, a great looking watch capable of doing pretty much everything your phone does.

Great every day use watch
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThe watch is NOT big. Keep seeing reviews stating the watch is big. It is smaller than the Gear S, which this one replaced. Great battery life. 55% or better at end of day, with Bluetooth connected to phone all day. The rotating dial for controlling watch took about a week for me to get used to, then it became second nature. Gear App store has many great free dials, and many great free apps too. Bought several after market watch bands, watch looks great.

Beautiful
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThis was an early Christmas gift for sister -- she loves it! It looks like just a classic watch but it functions as a fitness tracker too. It's slicker and more functional than a regular fit bit. So far she seems to enjoy it. Even as a stand alone watch, it's pretty!

I prefer my Gear S2 Neo
|Posted .No, I would not recommend this to a friendMy husband got this for me for Christmas. I was not too thrilled when I hear we had to pay for a data plan for it. I am still having problems trying to get everything set up. On my Neo I would get my heart rate when working out, I don't on here and that was pretty important to me. I have looked at options and I haven't found anything yet, but that's the problem with this one, it is hard to find the options on most things. I wanted a face that showed me the weather and all I could find is the Weather Channel one which when you touch it it goes in to an hourly forecast but a lot of times it gets stuck and I have to reboot it. When I delete the alerts for email, even if I have looked at them, it downloads them again and beeps with every one. Getting 10 beeps in a row is very annoying. I have only used the phone feature once when someone called me. I don't know if it was Bluetooth from my phone or if it was the Gear itself but it was horrible. A lot of static. I never had that with my Neo. I also don't like that I have to carry around the charger. You have no other option and it isn't the smallest. And Samsung problem is that they never think of the woman that are using this. My Neo was big but this is much bigger and I have a very tiny wrist, so that is annoying. Plus on both there is a rubber type band. I thought it made it look cheap, so I bought a metal linked band. If you haven't had a product like this before, then you probably would like it's features because you have nothing to compare it to. There are a few options that are nice but I still like my Neo better.

Leave the phone behind
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendGreat smart watch - GSM 4G LTE connectivity without a phone. I'm using AT&T and have number sync with my phone's number, so *as long as the phone is off or in airplane mode* I get my texts and calls straight to the watch wherever I'm at. Thanks to the loop pay tech baked into Samsung Pay, I can use it to pay for things even when no NFC terminal exists - almost always to the delight of merchants. The downside is the glitchy nature of the software (Gear app on my android). My primary phone is an iPhone and use my Samsung phone primarily as a host for my watch. It's frustrating that even when you're connected the Gear store will tell you that you aren't and can't download apps or watch faces. The ability to control the way watch faces display info or apps share data, and even the limited apps available due to the fact that it's operating on Tizen OS makes for a slightly frustrating experience. I also own an Apple Watch (2nd Gen) and love it too - but the Samsung with Samsung pay and Independent LTE connectivity is much more capable. Bottom line, if you're a techie who can deal with a less than "Apple-easy" experience in order to have a true "unconnected" smart watch (that looks like a watch!!) that makes mobile payments (a much more secure way to pay as well) a cinch, go get the watch and you won't be disappointed.

Just perfect
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI had purchased 3 different samsung watches in the past but this on is by far the best one I ever own. It's design and craftsmanship it's just great. The fact that samsung pay is included is a plus. Liked it so much I decided to get the classic design as well

Looks great but...
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendMy biggest like for this watch is the looks. It really looks great and feels nice. The band is extremely comfortable, the case looks great and there are a lot of neat looking faces available. Oh and the charge will last for several days. My biggest beef? This is the "explorer" model yet it isn't waterproof? This was A HUGE bummer. Samsung has been kicking Apple's butt for generations now with their phones being waterproof but now the Apple watch is waterproof but the Samsung isn't. Shame really... I have an iPhone 6s so the pairing can be a little finicky at times and there are some apps like Here WeGo that aren't available for whatever reason but I didn't get the watch for its compatability or integration...I got it because it looks, feels and acts like a nice watch that also does some neat tricks. So overall a great looking watch that always gets compliments, feels nice to wear and holds a charge for several days. Again my only reason for not giving 5 is I can't believe this thing isn't waterproof at all. This is the first watch I've worn in A LONG time that I have to worry about jumping into the pool with which is a major bummer.
Q: QuestionIs this LTE model compatible with any carrier or only AT&T?
Asked by Pozzobon.
- A:Answer The OFFICIAL answer is that it is only compatible with AT&T. The UNOFFICIAL answer: 1) First check if the bands physically in the phone are compatible with your target operator's network. (Good tool at www.frequencycheck.com ) 2) Check if your operator supports E-SIM's (T-Mobile & AT&T do, VZW is working on it, others coming soon since many supported the development of the E-SIM standard) 3)Request an unlock code from AT&T (www.att.com/deviceunlock/) 4) After AT&T provides you with unlock code, follow instructions (https://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-s3/how-to/guide-gear-s3-frontier-765a-carrier-t3537382) to unlock Gear S3. 5) Provide your IMEI and SIM (ICC ID) to new operator.

Q: QuestionWhy should I buy this s3 frontier over the cheaper s3 frontier? I have an att plan already on my s7. Does buying this s3 open a new contract with att? Does my phone bill increase?
Asked by Max.
- A:Answer Of course I would double check with ATT located in the mobile department of the store to conform but here's what I know. If you pay the full retail price as I did it does not start a new contract you can just use the watch normally and connect to your phone but your phone has to be connected via Bluetooth meaning you'll have to have the phone near you for calls, texts, emails, samsung pay etc. If you do pay the discounted price it does start a new 2 yr agreement and you'll be paying $10 a month for the LTE service as the watch has its own connection. This is useful if you want to leave your phone at home and say go hiking 30 mile away and still receive calls and texts on your watch, use the gps tracking or samsung pay without having your phone. If you bought it full price you can still activate it with the monthly service just without a contract.

Q: QuestionMy dad is saying that I haven't given him a good reason to get this watch. I cant think of any ideas to tell him. he wants to know what the watch can do that my s5 cant. I need help to convince him
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer In an emergency instead of pulling out your phone which you might not have on you, you can click the button 3 times and it will contact 911 and any other emergency contact you list it aslo can show your location and it stays quiet so if you're hiding it does not give away your postion, it can be helpful to remember to do things for school and schedule things lime due dates and test at school. It also can use samsung pay which i found to be useful.

Q: QuestionCan i use my note 8 using an at&t prepaid plan with the gear s3 frontier lte? Will at&t provide me a sim card for my s3 even knowing that i have an prepaid plan?
Asked by Rik2.
- A:Answer The S3 has a virtual sim, built in, I think you just have to set up the line only for the watch. Your phones line doesn't really play a role, think of it as a separate device, that's how they see it, it's the same as a tablet to them.
Answered by Shadow
Q: QuestionDo you have to pay a separate plan if you get the watch or will you not have to pay at all
Asked by Angel.
- A:Answer They will charge a $10 per month fee for the watch but it will be on your current plan they just add it on like another line
