Excellent Strategy Game
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThis is the first time I have ever played a Civ game but I have always been interested in the series. I tell you this because I do not have any knowledge as to what has been improved or what new additions have been added to the game. This review is specifically for those that are looking for a strategy game to play. This game plays from a top down view although you are allowed to zoom in very closely. I'd compare this game similar to a board game but I want to be careful with that description as its really not like that. You start off with a choosing which leader you want to play as and must claim land to which to build your civilization. Every turn you make decisions as to what you can research to expand your knowledge of new tech or policies. Your cities must be expanded through addition of various buildings that grant benefits such as increasing science. You select what characters to create much in the same manner as rts games and must wait a set amount off turns before you can use them. You can move them around the map to either scout, claim land, or battle cities or other infantry. The game is a very long game though as you start off in BC and go well into the 2000s. It has lots of complexities, which I believe adds many exciting things to do within the game. I'm sorry if I'm confusing or not providing lots of detail but trying to explain how this game works is best left to a video. If you are looking for a game that has lots of replay ability and lets you build a civilization from nothing and see how far you can take them, then I recommend this game.

Was skeptical, but it's a decent port.
|Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.I would recommend this to a friendI was very skeptical that a game with as complex controls as Civ could be made to work on Nintendo Switch, but gave it a try after reading positive reviews. They mostly pulled it off, I must say. I don't even play switch that much, but I've been able to for the most part play this game just fine with the pair of joycons. There are a few cases of inconsistency or just plain confusion, and I've sometimes ended up selecting the wrong option, on some screens, but I suppose that's some what inevitable. The graphics are decent, yet it's reasonably snappy. Pretty good, overall!

Great for small maps and short rounds only
|Posted .Owned for 10 months when reviewed.I would recommend this to a friendThis game works great if you keep to smaller maps during the first hundred rounds. Even in the smallest maps it lags a lot in the latter part of the game. There's too much going on for the Switch to handle well so it slows down considerably. Also, I takes a long time to combine and move units because you don't have a keyboard and mouse. Great game though if you can keep to small maps and finish games relatively quick.

Worth buying if you are a Civilization series fan
|Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed.I would recommend this to a friendBought this for the switch because I love to play this game and is perfect game to play on long road trips or when needing to kill some time. However, if you are familiar with the Civ game series, the developers changed the gameplay just a enough that it gets confusing. It is not a show stopper though, if you happen to get stumped on something in the game, just reference what you need to know on You Tube. I promise you that you will find your answer on there. Overall, I am happy that I made this purchase

For $10? Definitely!
|Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.I would recommend this to a friendThis waa my first ventute into Sid Meier's universe. It's a really fun, thought-provoking game, but it did feel a bit tedious at times. However, it has slowly but surely lured me in! I can now see what the long-time Civilization fans enjoy this game quite a bit. It's a nice & relaxing game to play late at night.

Good Buy for Switch Library
|Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.I would recommend this to a friendGood port of Civ VI, especially for a portable system. Touch screen controls are great for navigating some of the menus. I played it entirely in handheld and the graphics looked good but after a few hundred turns the game did start to lag and lose frame rate from time to time. Other than that it preforms admirably. It is priced quite well too.

Great Port
|Posted .Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed.I would recommend this to a friendI think they have done an admirable job of porting this over. Graphics are good, text is easy to read, and the controls aren't bad at all...you can even use touch screen for a few of the commands. I took off one star because I read many reviews stating the game slows down between turns ad you get further in. I'm not there yet, so I can't confirm. So far I'm loving it.

Can't stop playing
|Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed.I would recommend this to a friendInitially playing this game was a rough start. It appeared to have way too many options to build your civilization. After a dozen "turns," I started to get the hang of it. I finally had to stop playing because the Switch's battery was low and I then realize I had 4 hours left before having to get up for work. I can see this game having good replay value.
Q: QuestionBesides this being a hard copy, how is this version different from the $60 digital version?
Asked by Drew.
- A:Answer This is the same full game you get with thr digital version.

Q: QuestionCan you get a download code?
Asked by Wicked.
- A:Answer Nope! You can in other countries but US sales didn’t allow it. So don’t get sucked into buying a UK code and having it not work. But the cartridge it works just fine!
