Sarah Polley's sophomore directorial effort Take This Waltz stars Michelle Williams as Margot, a 28-year-old Toronto woman who has been married for five years to Lou (Seth Rogen), a cookbook author who specializes in chicken dishes. One day she meets Daniel (Luke Kirby) her neighbor across the street, and there is a quick and lasting connection between the two. While she remains faithful to Lou, she finds herself drawn more and more to this seemingly perfect other man. Eventually, Margot is forced to confront the truth about herself, and share her feelings with her unsuspecting husband. Take This Waltz had its world premiere at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival.~Perry Seibert
Excellent story from director Sarah Polley, and a well made film to boot! Almost educational in it's telling of being in a happy marriage and falling for someone else----is it worth it? Is it something one should act on or stay away from. Entertaining, riveting and heart-breaking, this one will leave you nodding your head and ready to watch again. ALL married couples should see this film!
This film does a wonderful job portraying real-life relationships. Lots of people won't like it, but that's because the "typical" love story doesn't end this way. In reality, situations arise similar to this more times than one can count. It's battle between what others feel is right for you, and what you actually know to be right for your happiness. Michelle Williams did another fantastic job, and I feel the casting for Daniel (Luke Kirby) was spot-on. Luke Kirby plays such a great character, innocent, real, sexy, sweet, and honest. He's a good guy and knows what he wants, but is willing to wait for it. I look forward to seeing Luke Kirby in more films. I recommend this film!
