The best-selling suspense novel by late author Robert Ludlum comes to the screen for a second time, following a 1988 made-for-TV movie. Matt Damon stars as Jason Bourne, a barely alive amnesiac with a pair of bullet wounds in his back, pulled from the Mediterranean by Italian fishermen. Bourne's only clue to his own identity is a bank account number etched on a capsule implanted in his body. He quickly finds the Zurich bank where money, a gun, and a few identification documents await, but after he's pursued by security goons at the American consulate, Bourne realizes he can trust no one and offers a German gypsy named Marie (Franka Potente) ten thousand dollars for a ride to Paris. Encountering more professional killers bent on his destruction, Bourne discovers that he possesses a surprising degree of skill in combat, martial arts, and linguistics -- handy talents that clearly indicate his past includes work as a spy and assassin, but for whom? With Marie's reluctant help, Bourne edges closer to the truth, something CIA officials want concealed at all costs. The Bourne Identity co-stars Chris Cooper, Clive Owen, Brian Cox, and Julia Stiles.~Karl Williams

Remember seeing a couple of Bourne movies on “over the air” tv long ago. Really enjoyed and remembered them. Surprised to see the 4K edition on Best Buy shelf, for a reasonable price. Still very entertaining. Now I’m looking for the 2nd installment-Bourne Supremacy. Not so easy to find in BluRay or 4K. Good storyline and action.
The best of the the Matt Damon Bourne movies. This is a movie that I have learned to appreciate more and more with repeat viewings. It's just so well made. The intriguing story just pulls you in.
The 4K blu ray is a mixed bag. While the picture is sharp in some places the color is very subdued. Its bland looking. I mean what happened. This suppose to be 4K. The sound, however, is excellent. The bass is deep and commanding, and the surrounds are loud and precise. Watch the 1080 for the picture, and the 4K for the sound.
That's why you by the Steelbook is because of the art. Then you get sucked into buying the rest of the franchise so it looks cool, but sometimes that could cost quite a bit. The Bourne series has started to gradually release them, so this is the second, when they release them, for some reason, these are much cheaper. Its not the glossy finish, its really kind of plain and sort of boring.
Here's my take on it. They are slowly releasing them at a great price when there first release because the covers are boring. Something tells me that this particular steelbooks will tell a story when you line up these steelbooks of JB. when the story is easily seen, they will jack the price up, because EVERYONE will want the set. So get in on it now at $5.99, both were released at this price, i'm telling you, somethings up...

Best in the Series!!
Being a guy who loves action movies, the Bourne films have always been a favorite of mine (yeah, we're not going to count Legacy). So when I picked up my 4K HDR player, this was one of the first films I picked up. You can't beat the overall amazing quality of this film's story, action, and characters. To add all these elements with the vastly improved picture and audio quality of 4K, this is a MUST OWN for all movie enthusiasts.
Now, I will admit: the greatest benefit I got from this 4K upgrade was the sound, but that is because HDR is really only most noticeable in picture quality when there are very bright colors on screen, i.e. Explosions, fire, etc... this was why Batman v Superman is a 4K movie that was worth every cent and vastly improved the movie watching experience in that regard.
The Bourne series is a must own for every movie fan. Is the upgrade necessary? No, not necessarily, but I think if you're a big fan of the series and will really look for the improvements, then this will be a satisfying purchase for you.
