Great wrap up to a 5-star series
Great wrap up to a 5-star series
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendLet's get a negative out of the way: there aren't enough episodes in this season, the series finale. When a show is this good, you just want more. Period. It's a great wrap up to a terrific series that I wish would have gone on longer, but nothing is left unresolved & the end is satisfying. Aaron Sorkin and his team give us great writing & the cast nails the performances again. Like "The West Wing", where we all wish people that smart & talented were actually in the roles presented on the show, "The Newsroom" gives us a great ensemble of flawed characters that still exceed any group we have in the real world. If only a news show were this intelligent & unbiased... Thanks again, Aaron! I can't wait for your next show.

Great Political Drama!
Great Political Drama!
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThe shame is that this was the last season of a drama that informed and enlightened the viewer - not only to the manipulation of the general public but it also cast most news and commentary programs in an extremely unfavorable light. Neither conservatives nor liberals appreciated its insight nor its showing them up The wonder is that the show lasted three seasons. Never-the-less it has set a high water mark for intelligent drama.

This show ended too soon

|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThe Newsroom is one of my all time favorite shows, but it definitely had a rough run, which is why it ended after only 25 episodes. Aaron Sorkin apparently decided he didn't want to do it anymore and HBO had him end the show. As a fan of the series and buying TV shows on bluray, this was an easy choice for me. Just know that this 3rd season only consists of 6 episodes when considering what price you are willing to pay. Man, after living through the first few months of this new administration, we could really use some more seasons of The Newsroom.

Geat series. Sorry to see it end with season 3.

|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThe whole series, 3 seasons, of Newsroom is a great review of recent, controversial events, starting with the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in season 1. A large issue in all the episodes was whether news reporting as done today is for entertainment or for enlightenment. I'm sorry the series won't continue. Jeff Daniels, as a conservative and celebrated newscaster, demonstrates all the tensions between news as information and news as entertainment or political statement. On the lighter side, the various romantic triangles and misunderstandings are fun. Olivia Munn and Alison Pill play their roles especially well in that context.

another Sorkin homerun

|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendAaron Sorkin cannot create a bad television show. First there was "Sports Night." Then came "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" and "West Wing." And now "The Newsroom." The stars (Jeff Bridges, Emily Mortimer, Olivia Munn, and others) superbly turn Sorkin's rapid-fire dialogue and heartfelt monologues into must-see TV!

Love this show, solid send-off

|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI've been a fan of Aaron Sorkin's series since I first saw 'Sports Night.' As a former broadcast journalist, I suppose I'm biased, but I thought 'The Newsroom' was fantastic – great characters, rapid-fire dialog and moving stories. There were a few beats in the final season that definitely seemed forced, but that may have been due to the shortened six-episode run.

Great Ending to a Great Show

|Posted .There are few dramas on television that make you think and feel at the same time more adeptly than Newsroom. It is truly unfortunate that it did not receive the viewership it deserved. Still, this series ends on an emotional but satisfying note.
