I didn't know anything about UglyDolls when I first saw the theater trailers and then the film, so it wasn't until later I learned it started as merchandise before becoming a film (as opposed to book then film then merchandise). The film itself is pleasant enough, but the plot isn't as "deep" as a Pixar or DreamWorks animation film. It does have a moral lesson: be accepting of all people. Adults without kids may not enjoy it unless they're "kids at heart" to begin with.
There's nothing of particular to note about the quality of the BluRay itself (typical picture and sound quality). There are some bonus features but not not a huge number of minutes, and they're more "fun" than informational.
I thought Ugly Dolls was way better than the reviews it recieved. I think it was pretty cute and had a great lesson for small children. The only thing is that the digital copy is strictly for iTunes so you won’t be able to watch it unless you use your Apple device or Apple TV. So beware if you use VUDU or have no way to watch on an Apple device.
Nice story. If you're a fan of UglyDolls before UglyDolls became a movie, you will probably like this. It is a more "kiddie" story, a toy-story for sure. Lots of songs, decent story of equality, and of course lots and lots of Ugly Dolls.
Warning: Fans of the popular Mij doll: she's in there, briefly, no speaking parks, just in the background.
