Can You Take Me Back ?
|Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This film is a modern day twist of a fantasy situation where the Beatles never existed to almost everyone, except the lead character and a couple of others. The writers included several references that die hard Beatles fans would pickup on. To name but a few, McCartney’s bare foot walk down to the stage in the James Corden interview scene, and the debut of Jack’s album in the concert on the Rooftop of the hotel on the beach. I was emotionally moved when Jack and Rocky go to Liverpool, having been to many of those sites almost 30 years ago in person. In a recent appearance on the Late Show with Steven Colbert, Paul McCartney said “It was a pretty good plug for me, and I thought it was a nice movie.” The story, the actors, photography and sound were brilliant. This was an absolute must own for my collection.

A charming love letter to the Beatles music
|Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed.Likely to be the best movie of the year. From the screenwriter of Notting Hill, About Time, Love Actually, Bridget Jones Diary. A romantic comedy with a twist.

Cute Movie Especially for Beatles Fans
|Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.I would recommend this to a friendCute movie. I appreciate movies like this one due to its having an original idea. I am weary of new movies coming out which simply re-hash the same old story-lines. Also, if you enjoy the music of the Beatles, you will enjoy this. The actors playing the key roles are not your typical pretty faces, but instead average looking down-to-earth characters, both in appearance and actions. Even the ending was not something you knew would happen when you were halfway through the movie (also refreshing in an age of re-makes). Note: the Blu-ray does contain an alternate ending in its special features. The only flaw I found was that a historical figure in the movie, although spot-on in facial appearance, was about 6 inches shorter than the character being portrayed. This is a minor grievance, but one that, for some reason, bothered me (especially when it could have been easily corrected with any of various techniques available). Again, it helps if you are a Beatles fan and know some of the history in order to fully appreciate some of the references in the movie.

Unexpected Surprise
|Posted .Owned for 1 year when reviewed.I would recommend this to a friendA friend dragged me to see this with her at the theater. It didn't sound interesting to me at all, and I'm not a Beatles fan. I went with her for her sake, and left the theater deciding that it is easily one of my favorite films of 2019. It's not perfect, but the sci-fi element is quite fun. I like the renditions of these Beatles songs more than the original Beatles song. Like I could actually listen to these versions of the songs on a random day, whereas I never will with the originals. I'd say this was a successful film in regard to trying to take classics and make them fresh for a new generation, as I believe this was a large part of the goal of the film - to keep the music alive. The story itself is mostly cute and sometimes funny with some mediocre stuff here and there. This original story had fantastic potential and some was missed, but the ideas still come across. Overall, I suggest you give this movie a try even if it sounds like you would never enjoy it. I thought I would hate it, and I like to put it on now especially on a gloomy day to cheer up the household.

Total Feel Good Flick!
|Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed.I would recommend this to a friendI missed this film when it was in theatres and was anxious to see it. I'm a huge Beatles fan and thought the premise was cute. I watched it on a premium channel and, even with it's flaws, could not get enough of the quirky, sweet story. There is alot that doesn't make sense about the screen play but the absolute "feel good" feeling plus endearing performances by the leads made me want to own this film. The added pleasure is that it comes with a digital download AND dvd version as well as the blu ray. The price was right too.

Guy Rips Off The World With Great Tunes!
|Posted .Owned for 6 months when reviewed. So there's this guy ... I can't remember his name. He rams his bike into a car (or maybe it was a truck) and it messes his teeth up. This girl who's liked him her entire life still hangs around even though his mouth is now a gaping hole. He finally gets his teeth fixed and then he starts playing songs by The Beetles and nobody knows the songs. Typical Millenials. Somehow, more people hear these songs and they're as dumb as his original friends. So now, Gappy McTeethmissing decides to become a huge star playing Beetles songs and acting like he wrote them. Some red-headed guy starts being his friend now that he has teeth. Finally, Captain Faketeeth starts feeling guilty about all this and goes to meet one of the Beetles (probably Ringo ... I'm about as clueless on The Beetles as his friends are) Ringo tells him to knock this crap off or he's going to sue him so Nothing But Gums quits playing Beetles songs and I guess he marries that girl that's always liked him. They definitely have sex, that much I remember. Then that song "Hey Dude" plays for like 30 minutes and the movie's over.
