The first single was InchDear Mr. PresidentInch, which bass player Christa Hillhouse told Songfacts Inchwas about the hierarchy of power and government.Inch The second single, What's Up?, became a #1 hit in several countries and went gold in the US. 4 Non Blondes was a rock band from San Francisco, California, formed in 1989. The group was formed by bassist Christa Hillhouse, guitarist Shaunna Hall, drummer Wanda Day, and vocalist and guitarist Linda Perry. Prior to the of their first album, Roger Rocha replaced Hall on guitar, and Dawn Richardson replaced Day on drums. They hit the charts in 1993 with InchWhat's Up?Inch, their only major hit single. In most parts of the world, Dizzy Up the Girl is the Goo Goo Dolls' most successful album to date, selling over three million copies (3x platinum certified). The success of Dizzy Up the Girl can largely be attributed to the rock ballad InchIrisInch, which was also included in the soundtrack album of the film City of Angels. InchIrisInch immediately reached #1 on the Hot 100 Airplay chart upon it's in March from the City of Angels soundtrack, and stayed on top for 18 weeks, setting a record that still stands as of September 2012. The song also reached #1 on the Billboard Modern Rock chart, the Adult Top 40 and Mainstream Top 40 chart, along with several other charts in the U.S and U.K, and included 3 Grammy nominations.
