There aren’t many reviews out there yet for the Acer Predator 39" OLED Gaming Monitor, so I wanted to share my experience after testing several alternatives before landing on this one. I first looked at the LG 45" 2K monitor at Best Buy. While it’s undeniably impressive, the PPI was too low for desktop use—it just wasn’t comfortable for me. I then tried the Alienware 34" Ultrawide, which was incredible in terms of image quality and design, but ultimately too small for my taste. I even tested the Alienware 32" 240Hz 4K monitor, but my RTX 4080 struggled to keep up at 4K with high refresh rates. It was simply too demanding for my setup. Coming from an older Dell 32" 1440p 165Hz monitor, I wanted something that felt like a true upgrade without going overboard. The 39" size hits the sweet spot: not too big like the LG 45", not too small like the Alienware 34". The OLED panel delivers stunning contrast, deep blacks, and vibrant colors—perfect for gaming immersion. At 1440p resolution with a 240Hz refresh rate, it balances performance and visuals beautifully. My 4080 handles it with ease, and gameplay feels buttery smooth. Yes, the PPI is still a little low, but since I primarily game, it’s not a dealbreaker at this size. For desktop work, it’s still perfectly usable. Comparing it side by side with my old Dell monitor is almost laughable—the Predator is simply in another league. The Acer Predator 39" OLED Gaming Monitor really is the best of all worlds for me. It avoids the pitfalls of being too large, too small, or too demanding on hardware, while delivering incredible gaming performance. The curve is perfect and the size is impressive. When I saw this on sale ($799) I was like... why wouldn't I snag this. BB price matched the price on Amazon too which was great ($699). Saw some reviews knocking it for the pixel refresh that OLED's need during normal everyday usage. That's all OLED's and not just this one. If you’re on the fence and want something that balances size, resolution, refresh rate, and GPU compatibility, this monitor deserves serious consideration.

The display itself is decent but not fantastic. The real problem is the "image retention refresh" notification that pops up every couple of hours. You cannot turn the message off, it is forced on you regardless of what you're doing. Playing a game? Your bottom middle screen area is going to have a big red message displayed for 20 seconds. Watching a movie? Yup, big red message displayed over it. Absolute garbage decision and I will never suggest this product to anybody.

Dear JP,
The "Image Retention Refresh" popup on your Acer Predator X39 OLED monitor is a built-in maintenance feature designed to prevent permanent OLED burn-in. While annoying, allowing the refresh to run helps maintain the longevity of your OLED panel. We understand this can be annoying but it is necessary for the health of the screen. Terrible monitor. Panel or something fried after 6 months of gaming. Don’t waste your money or the hassle of going through the RMA. Tons of better ultrawide options out there for the same price if not cheaper
